good afternoon i'm kyle avermann.. mike strewlow is on assignment... our top story at noon -- school is back in session. this morning students in milwaukee public schools who follow the di calendar went back to class... class...check out how the kids from siefert elementary were welcomed back this morning... professional men from milwaukee came out in droves to welcome these kids back to the classroom. including one of our own. cbs58 sports anchor earl arms was among the men giving out high fives, hand shakes and encouraging words as the kids walked into the brand new school year... after the unrest in sherman park last month.... many are looking to shift the energy... and get the kids off to school with some positivity...

sherman park multicultural arts school on 51st and locust. cbs 58's lindsey branwell is there live to explain... lindsey? kids walked up to sherman multicultural arts school for their first day ... you can see the red white blue decorations behind me... there was a lot of excitement and energy. just hours ago they walked right up to the school with a balloon arch, greeted by mayor barrett superintendent driver and bango the buck. but the recent events and thstudents. dr driver says this will be discussed over the school year. and students will have a safe and supported environment. dr. darienne drivermps superintendent"you can already see around us healing is occuring here. it happens. kids are playing on the playground, it you look at the tot lot things are already russled around because our kids are already playing here. this is a safe space this is a very special community. i do believe that our parents our

the walworth county fair is back open --after officals had to shut down early and evacuate last night because of a bomb scare. elkhorn police say someone called security around 8 o'clock to report a suspicious package. but after investigating... it turned out to be drumsticks. if y were at the fair yesterday and have a wristband for carnival rides -- you can return today for two hours of free s. now to an update on the slenderman stabbing case.the attorney for one of the two waukesha teens accused of trying to stab their classmate to death.... wants the high profile trial to be hed in erent county. county.morgangeyser's attorney is requesting a change of venue.anissa weier's attorney is seeking a venue pool of jurors from a different county. it's ultimately up to a waukesha county judge to decide.that's expected to happen in a motion hearing set for october 13th.

not yet voted on a new ?public safety? action plan for the city. but that didn't stop a local group from making their voices heard about the issue at a meeting this morning. cbs 58's julie parise is live in dntown milwaukee with the details... julie? today's city council meeting was interrupted by protestors more than once.two different groups showed up -- one dressed all in black, refusing to be quiet. one of the men with that group said the injustices facing parts of the community need to stop, calling his "we will make a change by any ans necessary." another group, ublack which stands for uplifting black liberation and community, oughabout 25 people or so. they held up signs and booed several of the alderman that were present, especially the chair of the public safety committee bob donovan. afterwards, they marched to the mayors office where they stood outside yelling things like "we want justice!" i spoke with one of those protestors afterwards. she
