his innoncence.now the case is the hands of the jury.they will deliberate on the nine charges he faces, including two counts of reckless homicide. things got heated in the courtroom yesterday.thursdays proceedings started with morgan on the standduring closing arguments, prosecution argued that morgan set the fire as a scare tactic against his estranged wife. defense said there was no evidence to put morgan at the scene of that fire, which killed his step son and another child. when you doused that bed, get that bad, right?i never did that that's why went to go call 911, you went to a pay phoneno sir that's why you went and talked to mr cathy, and said i need to call because kids over there need help, right?i never did that sir because you realized, you'd taken it too far, you set something on fire, you wanted to send her a message that how dare she prevent you from being in your bed but then when that wall went up, when that house started to go up, you realized at least five kids, two of them who were yours, that you were

sir the family of the two children killed have been watching this trial since it started earlier this week. they say its been a rough year. morgan's parents did not want to comment on camera.live in milwaukee jp cbs 58 a 13 year old is recovering this morning...after a milwaukee police officer's gun went off during a struggle at s. school.some parents told us... they were frustrated that they found out through the ?media.? others got a ?voicemail message?--- but they say... it was lacking details. details. "earlier today we had a serious incident at the school involving a student and the police department." 3 milwaukee police were at (tha-row) elementary school near 60th and bradley talking to the student... police say she became combative.as they tried to control her.. an officer's holstered gun went off.the teenager was grazed by the bullet and taken to the hospital.investigators were on

home and garage burglaries in oak creek... in the last four months!check out this map from police.it shows areas where burglaries have occured. cbs 58 spoke with a woman whose home was broken into earlier this week.the woman and her family were home as the person broke in.she went to bed with the front picture window open just a touch. that's when she says ......the burglar popped the screen, got in and out with her realize it until hours later and called police... :53 woman, victim "they took a lot of things from me, material wise, but i think the worst thing that was taken from me is just my sense of sec" security." 3 the woman said her car was found near 27th and locust in milwaukee...the thief was not. all of the 40 or so burglaries from over the summer are still being investigated. 3 a man shoots his dog after it was fighting with three others.

were fighting on buchanan street near barker street. there is no update on the condition of any of the dogs. investigators are looking into two separate crashes involving school buses yesterday. yesterday. milwaukee police say this bus was empty when it collided with two other vehicles near 64th and villard. two people were hurt, including the bus driver..they were taken to a hospital but are expected to be okay.. 3 and three people were hurt in waukesha county, when a school bus and a car crashed at about 7-30 yesterday was the scene at bayshore circle and lake drive in the town of okauchee. children were on board... but they're all okay.injuries to the two drivers were described as not life-threatening. the first case of west nile virus this year has been confirmed in waukesha county. the virus was found in three crows in waukesha and one crow in new berlin.people are encouraged to take precautions to limit their exposure to mosquito bites.the county's public health officer says even though summer is nearly

afternoon at east capitol driver and north humboldt boulevard. 3 milwauee's health deparment.... is inviting the community to the "day of family health" open house.ti's today from 10 a-m to 4 p-m at the northwest health center. the event will offer free services including diabetes and cholesterol screening, blood pressure checks, hiv testing, and mammograms?, as well as immunizations for those without insurance or children on badgercare. 3 molina healthcare will be providing hundreds of families in racine with free groceries along with free medical & dental screenings. molina healthcare is sponsoring an upcoming food pantry event in partnership with feeding america to provide more than 200 individuals with free groceries.food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. all people need to bring is a bag or box for their food. the event starts at 10 am.at racine kenosha community action agency. on 2113 north wisconsin street in racine.

making news around the nation...a group of young children in miami are okay after a pickup truck slammed into their daycare bus. bus.rescue crews raced to the scene yesterday.all seven children on board were wearing seat belts.. and were released to their parents.the bus driver was hurt and taken to the hospital.the truck driver was also hurt.police say he was trying to make a left turn when he t-boned the bus.no word on any charges. a six--year-old girl -- abducted from her home in wilmington, north carolina... is ?alive.? ?alive.?police say... she was taken from her yard wednesday night and was found ?chained to a tree? about two miles from her home.sheriff's deputies arrested "douglas edwards." he's now charged with first degree kidnapping. public record shows edwards was convicted in 19-96 of first-degree sexual offense and ?indecent liberties? with a minor.that victim was also six-years-old.

new this morning... milwaukee police are searching for a suspect involved in a hit and r. run. police say a car hit a man and took off.. around 1:30 this morning near atkinson and capitol.a 45-year-old man who'd reportedly been drinking.. was walking in the street when he was hit by a car.we're told that car did not stop. the man was responsive when officers got to the scene. local hospital and is expected to be ok.police are now looking for the maroon or red four-door vehicle responsible. now to developing news--- the family of a milwaukee county ?jail inmate?... can't understand how he ?died inside his cell.?the medical examiner ruled... terrill thomas' death a ?homicide?--- saying he died from "profound de-hydration." hydration."thomas was in jail for nine days... before correctional officers found him ?unresponsive? in his cell. according to the medical examiner's report--- he was

reportedly gave 29-year-old adam peterson narcan... but it didn't work.one organization working with men in recovery.. says this is all too common. a report shows there were more than 70 overdose deaths in milwaukee county -- just in the last 7 weeks. hearing this morning. morning.cbs 58's julie parise joins us live from the court house with a closer look at the case. police say gregory rounds and burt johnson were behind an armed robbery and officer-involved shooting at an o-reilly auto parts back in may. it happenened at the store on 76th and mill road. burt johnson, rounds' accomplice, was killed by police during the robbery after he fired his gun at the officers.now rounds is facing charges in his murder. johnson's girlfriend, la toya me purchased the gun used during the robbery.johnson told james which guns to buy. a week after purchasing the guns she gave them to her boyfriend. now the city wants to send a message that you don't need to be the one to pull the trigger to be held responsible for a shooting. the time to crime between legal purchase and someone being shot or caught with it illegally has decreased every single year rounds' plea hearing happens this morning at 830live in milwaukee im jp cbs 58
