3 we begin with breaking news from new jersey where a suspect in this weekend's bombings was arrested this with police. ahmad khan rahami was found sleeping in a doorway in linden new jersey...and when police approched him, he opened fire. one officer was hit in his protective vest...another shot in the hand. rahami was loaded into an ambulance with his right shoulder bloodied and bandaged. he was wanted in connection with several bombings including the one saturday night in manhattan's chelsea neighborhood that injured 29 people. we've got much more on this breaking story just ahead...

news, the capture of a suspect for this past weekend's bombing attacks in new york and new jersey. ahmad khan rahami was captured this morning after a gun battle in linden, new jersey....cbs' brook silva-braga has the details. emergency personnel loaded bombing suspect ahmad khan rahami into an ambulance after a shootout with police in linden, new jersey. it happened hours after the fbi raided the 28 year old's last known address in nearby elizabeth. sources say rahami - a naturalized u.s. citizen from afghanistan -- wa in surveillance video from saturday's bombing in the chelsea section of manhattan. (potus)we are extremely fortunate and grateful that no one was killed(nats)the search for rahami comes after a robot detonated a bomb in a trash can overnight in elizabeth. it was one of five devices found near a train station.(sot chris bollwage/elizabeth mayor) the speculation from the elizabeth police department is they were not timed to go off so therefore whether they were being investigated or followed, they were disposed

(track) surveillance video shows people running for cover after the pressure cooker bomb exploded saturday night, 29 people were hurt. (photo) a second pressure cooker bomb was found four blocks away but did not explode.earlier on saturday a pipe bomb detonated in the jersey shore town of seaside park, before a charity run to sailors. no one was hurt in that attack. authorities say rahami is a suspect in both the jersey shore and chelsea bombings. brook silva braga, cbs news, chelsea, new york. 3 meanwhile in minnesota, authorities are calling saturday's stabbing attack at a shopping mall in st. cloud, a "potential act of terror". terror". they say a somali college student named 'dahir adan'.. entered a sears store, asked people if they were muslim and stabbed those who said they were not. 9 people

the victims mom and sisters spoke at the sentencing, all expressed compassion and forgiveness for adam nehaus. they asked for no more than one year of jail time plus work release and community servicehowever the victims wife and kids both want nehaus to get the maximum 5 year sentence.mr nehaus could barely keep his composure. when he took the microphone, he expressed his remorse. 3 the judge said he wanted to send a message to the community about doing the right thing, which he said adam nehaus did not when he left the scene of the crime.

the former choir director at brookfield central high school made his first court appearance today on theft charges. phillip olson is accused of stealing more than 47-thousand dollars from funds earmarked for the choir over a five year period. olson was fired by the school last year. today, he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on october 20th, and told not to have any contact with the elmbrook school district administration or staff. the house was vacant, but the da w early morning fire on milwaukee's north side. side.fire crews actually responded twice to the house near 53rd and custer...once just after 12-30, and again after 5-30 this morning when embers rekindled a fire.the fire caused an estimated 260- thousand dollars in damage. no one was inside...and no firefighters were reported hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation. last night, police noticed smoke coming from this house near 23rd and hadley. when

found several 'spot fires' burning inside. damage here was placed at about 18-thousand dollars....no injures...again, they're still trying to determine how the fires started. a lot of people who drive for online ride sharing services like 'uber and lyft'... are watching a federal court case now underway in chicago. chicago.the question before the judges is -- should ridesharing drivers be held to the same standards as taxi drivers? this has been an issue in milwaukee too.a coalition of taxi drivers sued milwaukee to h taxi permits declared unconstitutional back in 2011. the drivers won, but the taxi industry also filed a lawsuit arguing that allowing more competition is unconstitutional. the taxi industry says it's lost 30 to 40 percent of revenue to the ridesharing apps... but is also held to higher 'licensing standards and costly fees.' coming up on the cbs 58 news at noon... next at noon, a check on the presidential candidates, now with just 50-days left before
