took several major battleground states like florida, ohio, pennsylvania, north carolina, michigan and of course wisconsin. all key states where both candidates spent quite a bit of time... with the exception of clinton in wisconsin. she hadn't been here since the primaries. one interesting note to point out-- both wisconsin and ohio have voted ?with? the winning candidate in many recent elections.wisconsin voted 7 of the last 10 correctly. including fo only voted with the losing candidate ?once? since 19-44.... and that's when they picked nixon over kennedy in 1960. now clinton did win a few major states.. like new york and california... neither of which came as a surprise. but as we know... it wasn't enough to put her over the edge. 3 final electoral numbers are here...trump with 289 to clinton's 218. again trump beat that 270 threshold when

morning about wisconsin's role in the outcome of the election. wisconsin helped take trump to victory -- the first time in three decades the state has supported a republican for president. cbs 58's julie parise is in waukesha this morning.she has more on what voters are saying today. julie? there is that element of surprise this morningeven the people who voted for trump say they can't believe he pulled off the win. the last time wisconsin elected a republican president -- it was 1984 and ronald reagan was the president elect. at a watch party here in waukesha last night, excited trump voters watched the results come in.his supporters told us this is a win for everyone who felt the last eight years of the obama presidency were filled with broken promises. one trump supporter told us she made

people to come together.. :20-39 feingold wrapped up his 3 minute concession speech by saying that our country is heading into one of the most challenging times but supporters who were here tonight it's now up to them.at the feingold watch party in middleton, mike strehlow for the cbs 58 morning news many are calling ron johnson's victory in wisconsin.. ?surprising.? 3 in the state.feingold was leading in the most recent marquette law school poll... which separated the two by just ?one? point. in the previous poll, feingold was winning by 2 percent.... in september- by five. and in august by ?eleven.? the results last night.. of course.. were much different. johnson took over 51-percent of the vote... compared to feingold's 45-and-a-half. leading some to wonder... how trustworthy are polls before election day? i spoke to assistant professor of political science at marquette... paul nolette... about the issue here in the

we knew wisconsin was a battleground state going into the election.but until early this morning... we didn't know just how crucial it would be. but according to the associated press.... the badger was was ?the? deciding factor in donald trump's win. win.wisconsin's 10 electorial votes... put trump ?over the number? needed to win.check it out.this is a breakdown of how ?counties? in our state voted. voted. you'll notice trump captured ?most? of the counties in wisconsin.in our area--- that includes the conservative "wow" counties---

washington.clinton won 13 counties in the state--- but ?only? milwaukee county in our area. 3 let's take a closer look now at how wisconsin voted.men overwhelmingly voted for trump. 54 to 43-percent.compared to 57-percent of women who voted for clinton. we can break that down further... white men... made up 42-percent of the vote.... and picked trump 51-percent compared to 31 for clinton. white women... who made up 44-percent of the overall to 44 percent between the candi. candidates.african american votes.. however.. went almost entirely to clinton.according to exit polling.... ?zero percent? of black women voted for trump. only 1-percent of black men voted for trump. moving on to ?local? races. imcumbent "paul ryan" easily won the congressional race in the first district. district.here's a look at the numbers.paul ryan won with 65 percent.ryan solen got more support than some expected.he took home 30 percent of the
