new details this morning after a double shooting in milwaukee. one person is dead and another is in the hospital. hospital.the shooting happened near 76-th and glenbrook. cbs 58's julie parise is live this morning... with the latest on the investigation. police have identified a suspect in this shooting -- we're told police are looking for that person this morning. the shooting happened last night around 9:30 near ridgewood apartments, a senior living facility. police say they responded to the and a 57-year-woman had both been shot. the younger victim died while the older woman was taken to the hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery. police tell us the circumstances leading up the shooting aren't yet clear but the investigation is ongoing. live in milwaukee im jp cbs 58 3 now to a developing story... brendan dassey-- whose case was made famous by the netflix

from prison as early as this week.a judge ruled yesterday that he should be free... while the state figures out if it will re-try him for the murder of teresa halbach. cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live in studio with a closer look at the details. kyle? 3 dassey and his uncle... steven avery were the subjects of the netflix series making a murderer. and now have an international following.for last decade- dassey, who is now 27 years old, sat in prison - a sentence that could come to an end any day now. dassey's conviction was overturned in august- after a federal judge ruled dassey's because he was 16, had diminished mental capacity and didn't have an attorney or adult present during questioning. monday, that same judge said dassey should be free during the appeal process in part because the state does not have a "likelihood of success on appeal." the order also states that without that confession "retrial, re- conviction and re- incarceration are unlikely" the judge says the state "failed to demonstrate that dassey represents a present

record and an almost flawless prison record. in my opinion, a 16 year old kid with no crimnal record, which are things they talk about. a benin record while he has been in prison for almost 10 years, this is a textbook case of someone that should be and must be released pending the appeal. 3 so when will dassey be released and what's next for him? we'll take a look at that coming up in our next half hour. live in studio. kyle 3 brendan dassey's attorney says she hopes he'll be re-uinted with his family by thanksgiving -- if not sooner. and in a statement.. she urged quote-- "everyone to respect brendan's privacy during this time of transition." saying..."as we give thanks this holiday season for family and friends... our food will taste all the sweeter because we know that for the first time in ten years... brendan will be celebrating in freedom with his family, too." 3 stay with cbs 58 for continuing coverage of brendan

at cbs 58 dot com. 3 looking ahead..the milwaukee man accused of drowning his 3- month-old son in a pond last month... will be in court today for his final pretrial. pretrial.sean flowers junior is charged with first degree intentional homicide. according to the criminal complaint... flowers was upset with how the baby's mother was dancing at a family party. witnesses say he held his 3-month-old son underwater in a pond and drowned him....fighting off attempts from others to free the baby from his grasp. court records was accused of domestic violence against the baby's mother. 3 milwaukee police are investigating why an 8-year-old brought a gun to school.police say a staff member at la follette elementary school found the unloaded gun on the boy.they say he brought it from home. police took the gun. the d-a's office will now review the case. police have arrested a 21-year- old man suspected in ?three? sexual assaults on milwaukee's northwest side. side.we showed you this composite sketch last week... of a suspect related to ?two? assaults near 76-th and acacia.

the federal judge overturned dassey's conviction based on his confession... which he believed could not stand in cou. court.cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live in the newsroom with a closer look at when dassey will be free. defense attorney alex flynn- is not working this case-but theres still a number of hurdles to overcome...before dassey could actually be "free" flynn says-this is just a fight to get brendan dassey out of prison-awaiting the decision of the states appeal. but the state has every reason to release him. hes not a flight risk criminal and his family and support system are all in the area. its going to take time though-days-or even weeks- before they let him go. he has to register as a sex offender and the court has to check out where he's living...and who hes lving with. ???4220 there are conditions you must comply with while youre out. and he has a laudnry list. must be monitored by probation office, a social worker he'll be working with on a daily basis.
