the donald denying ugly allegations involving women who he blamed at a rally in florida. i'm keith cate. >> i'm jennifer leigh. thank you for joining us, we begin with break news. a deputy on the wrong side of the law accused of pawning his service weapon and stealing drugs. let's get to peter bernard in pinellas county. peter? >> reporter: this is the sad case of a guy apparently addicted to drugd the sheriff fired that deputy yesterday. he had been with the agency since october of 2012. here are pictures of what went on. 32-year-old steve smith had worked as a patrol deputy and a narcotics deputy. the sheriff tells me he had been assigned desk duty after his performance had been falling off.
stealing pills and pawning his glock. he pawned it at a pawnshop in new port richey. this kind of addiction can affect anybody and his former deputy's life was spiraling downward. >> he is broken. and you know, he said that he just didn't have any money. needed to pay and, it was his way of being backed into a corner. he needed help. >> reporter: the sheriff says it was smith's girlfriend who actually tipped off investigators. she sent a picture of the pills which we now know possibly numbered in the 300, perhaps even 400 in total. he could face additional charges in pasco county because ha is where the supposed crime
thank you peter bernard. a bomb threat at lego land hours ago caused the park to shut down for the entire day. it sent police combing through every inch of the park. rod, authorities now say this is a hoax right? >> reporter: yeah, they do, but they are taking it very seriously. winter haven police are still here. they are just leaving now. there are officers still there. this bomb threat discovered ar in the park evacuated. the general manager told us he believes this is a hoax, but they are treating it very seriously. fernando and his family are visiting from venezuela and eating lunch at perkins was not on their agenda, but it is where they ended up after a bomb threat forced them out of lego land and their hotel.
>> reporter: they took cell phone video along the way. >> they said, it was okay, we could go up to our room. we went up to our room and five differents later they are pounding on the door saying you have to evacuate. >> reporter: we know someone left a note at the park claiming claiming there was a bomb and they don't believe the threat is real now. >> at the time, we think this is a hoax, but we take all threats seriously. >> reporter: with that, they will stay closed the rest of park goers are not happy, but very glad park officials moved quickly to keep them safe. >> they say it is the first time it has ever happened. things happen. it stinks but we will try to make it up to them tomorrow. >> reporter: just got off the phone with the winter haven police department. they tell us they are still here going through this park. they will know exactly when they will be finished going through each inch of this park, but i can tell you this keith, it is 150 acres so it could take a little time.
note? >> reporter: very good question. they have not told us exactly what was said in the note. but, we do know that it was serious enough for them to move very quickly today around noon and just usher everybody off the property. >> uh-huh. all right, rod carter live at lego land in lakeland. thank you. right now, a killer is on the loose after running over a 17-year-old girl in tampa last night leaving her to die in the street. her family spent time with our melanie michael today and she joins us mel, this family is enduring unimaginable heart ache tonight. >> reporter: jen, good evening to you. i have to say this is one of the most intense moments i have spent with a family sitting in their living room. the mother of ashley perdomo crying out to her daughter begging for her to come back. >> come back. come back. ashley ...
ashley ... call me! call me! call me! ashley! >> reporter: a mother cries out for her daughter in a moment so intense, you could physically feel the grief in the room. this is the last video of ashley alive. it was taken less than 24 hours before she was killed. her mother wept telling us with her daughter's death, the family's happiness is gone. >> my daughter, anymore. i'm very sad. i'm not alive. ashley. >> reporter: ashley was only 17 years old, a senior at hillsborough high school working at this grocery store trying to earn extra money for college. she left work wednesday night around 8:00. as she crossed hillsborough avenue to cross the bus, a driver ran her over and took off. the family tracked her phone to the hospital where officials
dead. >> they said she died. they said my daughter died. the doctors said my daughter died, ashley died. >> reporter: ashley's family is begging for help in finding their daughter's killer. the person who left her to die on hillsborough avenue pleading for the public for answers and hoping for justice. and you know, jen, we want to thank the family today for sharing that very personal moment an anybody out there, who knows anybody about this case, who knows who the driver is, please turn that person in. do the right thing. the family told me moments ago, they are going to have a vigil in this parking lot tonight at 7:30. for now, our prayers and our thoughts go out to them in this time of need. >> melanie michael live for us in tampa. thank you. another tragedy tonight, this one in polk county. a truck plowed through a

lewd behavior. newschannel8's national correspondent mark meridith is watching from our dc bureau. he will perhaps take some legal action over this new york times story. >> reporter: he is certainly threatening that. whether or not it goes further than a threat is still up in the air. you know, after all, he is spending so much time, energy, and resources going state by state, specifically in florida where he was in west palm ac it was at the rally he had to share the pulpit over the allegations of misconduct. he wanted to address it with the crowd but it was in the only way he can do a speech. the big question we have to answer now, is this going to matter to voters? sexual misconduct in politics is certainly not anything new. but we are not used to seeing this at a presidential level this close to a general election campaign. as i have talked about, while

threats popping up across america have some halloween stores say enough already. >> one charity in particular in the bay area is yanking clown costumes off of their racks completely this holiday season. 8 on your side's mary mcguire explains why goodwill stores made the decision to go clown free. >> reporter: goodwill sun coast stores have hundreds of options for people who want to dress up for halloween and save money, but if you are looking for a clanks out of luck. creepy clowns have terrorized the country and with three weeks until halloween, these stores are responding. >> we had a customer saying they are really freaked out about this whole creepy clown phenomenon. and so, we thought about it and we want today be sensitive to that. in a way, we could be protecting people, if somebody unknowingly dresses as a clown. i mean, i love clowns. but if somebody dresses as a clown, and unintentionally

nice and quiet thursday. nothing on the radar just yet. and we are going to keep the rain chances low for the rest of this evening. here is the view from the lakeland auto mall. 83 degrees currently with winds coming in out of the northeast around 5 miles an hour. veteran's ford in tampa, 84 degrees as well. no rain at this location. it has been pretty much dry for all of us today. not to say we couldn't see a sprinkle as we head into the next couple of hours or so. tomorrow, a similar story. but as we head into this weeken so, a little bit more likely you see a passing shower or a storm at your house. but at 9:00 p.m. tonight, just a few clouds around. temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s . when you wake up tomorrow morning, a lot of sunshine to start the day. pleasant, we are in the low 70s to begin with. and then, by the afternoon hours, it is when we start to heat back up again. we will top out in the mid to upper 80s so a little bit toasty, but not bad.
blitz. a small 10% chance for rain during the games tomorrow night. and by halftime, we are comfortable in the upper 70s . the final play will be dropping back into the mid 70s . at this point, a little breezy at times. we are seeing the winds coming out of the northeast anywhere from 5 to 15 miles an hour. but it can be a little dusty. so keep a light breeze around. temperatures, mid 80s for most of us. we are still sitting at apollo beach. 83 bradenton. 84 in weeki wachee. and, the humidity, that dropped from that cold front is really what is making it feel nice. the humidity has dropped back. we are in the not too bad range. we are generally where we will stay for the week ahead. so no big changes coming, we just don't have a large front bringing the major changes. so for the rest of the evening the high resolution model shows you how dry it will be. barely any rain at all expected for the rest of tonight.
at less than 10%. when you wake up tomorrow morning maybe a few clouds around. not much rain through the the day. this weak front rolls through, but this is really not going to impact our weather. the rain chances will stay near 10% and our temperatures will stay about the same. in the mid to upper 80s as we head into friday afternoon. and friday evening. by saturday, a little bit more moisture start to creep back in from the south. so, saturday morning should be mostly dry. we will be in the low 70s . then by the afternoon hours we will bring up the rain chances a hurricane nicole has a little 5:00 p.m. advisory. 110 miles an hour winds moving to the northeast. fairly rapidly now as it is moving away from bermuda at 21 miles an hour. and you can see, well, now a category 2 storm and expected to continue to weaken as it moves off toward the north and east. so, for us, for the rest of this evening temperatures will stay this the low 80s . it will be partly cloudy. comfortable. winds out of the northeast all the way for the week ahead.
