>> yes, i did. i'll tell you what and it was quite an experience. 3 words that strike fear in the hearts of bay area commuters are howard frankland bridge. well the ferry is now an alternative to commuting but would it save you time and who does it benefit? so i compared the 2 commutes and here's what i discovered. i began by timing the commute from downtown tampa. i included parking at the silver lot walking and boarding. it took just over 4 minutes. i checked the during my journey i scoff a few things it's a relaxing ride. i here's a plus i don't have to deal with distracted drivers. my only distraction was this rainbow that appeared. i arrived in st. pete a little wind blown and hit the timer. 55 minutes. okay so now it's time to compare the ferry ride

starting at channel 8. so i've got into stopwatch. let's get going. 0 the drive across the howard frankland bridge was good which is typical in the morning and to the ferry parking. with the added time just over 33 minutes. >> so if driving is quicker what commuter would this benefit? >> if you work in tampa and live in st. pete it's a way of getting to work in 50 minutes without having to worry about accide >> so i checked my traffic data from yesterday and heading to tampa took 40 minutes just on the interstate and that's with zero crashes so comparing the commutes driving was actually a bit longer than the ferry. so i found the ferry could be an alternate commute. now, obviously you have to factk to the office and

. a break in the case of a hit and run crash that killed a woman and injured a deputy. >> good morning. a tip into the polk county sheriffs office is what led authorities to the suspect and his pickup truck in this case. let's go to a new mug shots of charles lewis that just came in. he's aed saturday morning and hitting and killing otero. the deputy who previously stopped to help her was also hit along state road 60 in lake wales but survived. he's still in the hospital today. investigators explain lewis confessed and claimed he knew he hit something but never stopped. he's due in court here in polk county at 1:00 this afternoon.
