for someone else's solar. to stop unfair subsidies, vote yes on amendment 1. . this morning one nypd sergeant is dead after a shootout with a home invasion suspect in the bronx. officers roseless, who opened fire on them. the 19-year-old veteran on the force passed away at the hospital and another officer is stable at the hospital. the gunman is dead. a terrifying day at rutgers university. a former student is accused in a double stabbing at the business school. a student and staff member are being treated at the hospital along with the suspect. the campus was on lockdown but is now open.

colder shot. at 8:00 this morning, the sun is already up, 67 degrees to get you started. by midday, the clouds will scour out a bit, staying breezy and temps still above normal, topping out at 82 for today. it will be hard for us to tell we have a frontal boundary sliding through. there's a lot of dry air ahead of it and behind it. there are some showers. we had a few drops in our area so you may notice a few drops on the windshield this morning. there's the front sagging off to the south. colder air working in, 57 in jacksonville, 69 in tampa, still fairly mild. but the core of that cool air is way off to the north and looks like that is where it's going to stay here.

downtown tampa before the sun comes up this morning. thank you for joining us this morning. the fight for florida is on. hillary clinton is in broward county today and thousands are expected at a donald trump rally this morning in tampa. in a moment we'll go live to the fairgrounds where supporters are already lining up. and a hit-and-run suspect appeared in court for killing a woman and injuring 71-year-old charlie lewis admitted to investigators that he drank four beers at a party before driving. a pasco county teenager is behind bars, accused of breaking into the home of gerald mccoy. mccoy's father came face to face with the intruder and there was a scuffle before the teen took off. time now 6:31.

weather? >> you know, we actually have a cold front. it's not going to change our weather much. we had a high of 87. won't be that warm today but still slightly above average. it's mild out there this morning, 65 for brooksville, 66 lakeland and for brandon. a little cooler to the north, 61 in crystal river and 57 in jacksonville this morning. we have some showers on the east have had a couple springs overnight. we have some breezy winds starting to set up shop across the area and we'll get gusty through the day today. we have a small craft advisory in effect. as mentioned, temperatures are slightly above average, topping off at 82 degrees. overnight fairly seasonal as the clocks go back one hour
