8. we have complete coverage throughout the morning of everything you need to know as you head to the polls. good morning, i am daniel miller. >> good morning, i am julie grauert. first a check of your weather. meteorologist shiri spear in the fox25 stormtracker weather center. shiri, i had to get out my scraper to scrape the frost off my windshield. >> shiri: a little deceiving because the temperature bug in the corner that reads 40 degrees. the suburbs colder. 31 29 in fitchburg. 28 in nashua, new hampshire. 27 in new bedford. obviously a cold start to the day and the problem is calm winds, clear skies and a formula to see temperatures continue to drop through about 6:00 this morning. so 6 a.m. temperature here for somerville this morning, 34 degrees. we will get up to 40 at 8 a.m. 51 by 10:00 in morning. we are seeing a giant drop in temperatures even by late

degrees. a lot in the low to mid-60s. i will show you a cool spot in 10. julie is back with live drive time traffic. we want to update you on breaking news. crews are dealing with a water main break in boston in front of the t stop. because the station is above ground, the water not flowing into the station. the water now shut off and we will share any new details as we learn them. heading to the traffic maps, remind you a closure 290 westbound started last night at 5 p.m. traffic is being detoured at exit 18. route 1, 93 south moving along fine. expressway looks good from the braintree split to columbia road. live drive times. 13 minutes on route 1, 29 monies on 93 south. 22 minutes on 128 southbound from peapody to the weston tolls. 4:02. in a matter of three hours the polls will hope in massachusetts at 7 to o'clock and early as 6:00 in new hampshire.

a trio of tiny towns in the granite state. with under 100 voters can open their poles at midnight and close them once everyone has voted. >> julie: the mores famous and smallest is dixville notch. the town only has eight voters and hillary clinton won over half emthem. two votes for donald trump. one to gary johnson and a surprise write-in for mitt romney. in millsville, 16 trump backer backers, 4 votes to clinton and one write-in for bernie sanders. >> the final town is hurts location. 17 votes for clinton, 14 for trump and johnson got three votes. as for the write-ins. bernie sanders got two votes on his own and one is john kasich's vice presidential running mate. >> daniel: add them up, trump came out ahead 32-25. coming off a late night after a late rally in michigan julie julie this morning he is heading to new york where he

in terms of the security. the big apple will look like times square on new year's eve. 5,000 police officers will work a special detail for election and some streets closed. the first time in more than 70 years that boats presidential candidates will be in new york city on election night. security is on the mind of leaders here in massachusetts. boston mayor marty walsh promising your safety the top priority at the polls. blames rhetoric for making it >> donald trump is revved up gotten people angry talk being a rigged system, but we will see what happens and we are prepared in boston for whatever happens. unfortunately we shouldn't say that. >> daniel: the mayor is expecting high voter turnout so get ready for long lines. not just the presidential race that has people lining up at the polls in new hampshire. the senate race between maggie hassan and incumbent senator kelly ayotte is already tight.

eight ballots in dixville ended in a tie. in litchfield, ayotte over hassan. polls are opening in just a few hours, and fox25 has team coverage all day long. our michael henrich is in nashua, new hampshire while catherine parrotta is live in framingham. they will be monitoring early morning turnout as well as the big races that voters will decide in each state. plus we have a team in new york city. we go to fox25 for a live report in our next hour. 4:078. this morning brockton police investigate a violent robbery. the suspect is still on the loose. the home owner attacked by a man wielding a sledgehammer on old farm lane. the victim came home to find a stranger in his house. chris haskins tell fox25 that the rob her a sledgehammer and he grabbed an ax hammer and chased after him. >> i got to crack it a cup of

marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev will be back in court. ropel phillipos washtion was convicted of lying but they say his confession was coerced by a federal agent. he himself will not in court. we will tell you the outcome once it happens. keith lashawn herring pled not guilty to murder an other charges in district man during a drug deal on ferry street sunday night. the herald reports that prosecutors used a gps bracelet he was already wearing to track him down. it was a condition of his bail in an attempted murder case out of middleton county. a georgetown police officer is recovering at home after his cruiser was hit in a construction zone. video from the scene on 95 north from route 193. the officer's cruiser was

stories of a case of animal cruelty. weymouth police say a woman was drunk when she stomped her cat to death but the woman has a much different story and shared it only with fox25's malini basu. >> reporter: fox25 got this video of pumpkin from the kitten's owner. pumpkin was a loving 3-pound kit head-on is dead. the story that is out there -- kitten that is dead. >> reporter: the story that is out there. they say you killed it.

anybody who did do that, i would be on top of them. >> reporter: weymouth police say elie campbell killed pumpkin friday night. campbell spoke with us exclusively outside of her home. >> reporter: this is completely wrong. >> oh, my god -- >>reporter: won't out of a drunken rage. >> i had a reason of being crazy and mad, not at the cat -- because of the cat i flipped out what i saw. >> reporter: weymouth officers were called to the saunders street home after street home after a disturbance. they say camp belle was throwing things on her neighbor's car. campbell said she flipped out claiming her neighbor ran pumpkin over in her driveway. >> he ran the cat over by mistake. >> reporter: billy was with his girlfriend. >> accidents do happen and all he had to do was explain that he ran our kitten over. >> reporter: weymouth police say i observed a small kitten with what and to be a broken neck with blood out of its head and next area. the kitten and to have been stomped and flattened by someone.

degrees. we have been steadily dropping since the middle of last week. normal is 54. today we are not just going to be back to normal but back into the 60s. it will feel like it did in the middle of last week which a nice little treat. boston at 40 degrees. all the suburbs are colder, 20s and 30s as you get up and go. fitchburg at 29 degrees with clear skies. not much to report as far as the winds go that will awill youed this giant drop this focus on any wind chills for you. straight-up temperatures will sufficient fy 'fies. at 6 a.m. the temperatures in fitchburg will be in the upper 20s. i don't see temperatures warming up by 6:00. by 8 a.m. lower 40s. 10 a.m., 56 degrees. by noontime, 62. and get those highs well into the 60s here during the afternoon. so, yeah, will end up feeling like may here for the second half of the day with 61 in boston and plymouth, 63 in

62 in manchester, new hampshire. and cool spot of the cape. upper 50s for you folks. same sunshine, same nice calm wind. the same comfortable day ahead. futurecast nothing to highlight. clear skies and no weather woe s at least from the weather department as far as the weather goes today. 7 a.m. tomorrow. starting to see spot showers popping up. best chance of rain during the morning commute tomorrow will be north and west of boston. and western mass. so more prone locations. showers filling in by lunchtime in the boston area when your showers peak. late morning through early afternoon and eventually this front along with scattered showers get into southeastern massachusetts and will end up winding down during the evening but at least the evening commute is not looking wet for everybody. i think travelers south of the city probably encountering showers tomorrow afternoon but to the north and west, we will have breaks in those clouds. tonight pretty quiet yet with

fifth worst city for veterans detroit, solution and memphis. they looked at employment, economy and quality of life. some of the top cities are in arizona, texas and california. new parents in amesbury are hoping to track down the person that saved their baby girl within she stopped breathing. they were still on the phone with the middleton 911 dispatcher when a neighbor heard them screaming and ran for help. the couple shared the ne fox25's bob ward. >> my whole world. i love her to death. >>reporter: there is raylyn over a week old and she survived a life or death drama. early saturday morning raylyn's mother riley noticed her daughter had trouble breathing. >> arched her back and flailing her head side to side and her eyes were -- she looked very panicked. >> reporter: raylyn's dad rushed to help and in moments

>> turning purple, bluish, her eyes were popping out of their head. >> reporter: the couple called 911 and she rushed outside and begged for help. >> i ran outside and i started screaming for help. my baby is dying. she is turning blue. she is not breathing, can somebody help me. >> reporter: seconds seemed like hours and then before emergency crews arrived, some call what happened next a miracle. >> one nice lady came running out of nowhere in the dark and just grabbed her from me and started doing cpr on her, and soon after, i heard her start crying so i was really relieved. i knew she was getting air and the ambulance came a few minutes after that. >> reporter: cory and riley still don't know who the mystery woman was, they only know she made all the difference. >> if the neighbor didn't intervene, what would have happened there? >> she would have died. she would have died. so thankfully to the next-door neighbor she was there and really saved her life.
