morning. just remember that when you head out today. >> heather: yeah, make note. we do want to head over to meteorologist jason brewer. as we mentioned temperatures really cold out there. temperatures in the teens right now. >> jason brewer: yeah, a couple spots out to the west wind chills in the teens. most of us in the 30s. when you factor in the wind, gusting 20, 25 miles an hour. we're feeling the wind chills. right now it feels like 21 in worcester almost into the teens there it feels like 27 in st 29 degrees as you start the day. let me show you the forecast. good news is sunshine will be with us today. and temperatures will be gradual until the lower 40s around noontime today. and then try to peak in the middle 40s there. and in boston today, our normal is 53. a little cooler than normal. we're going to need our jackets and sunglasses for the day. today brings milder air, i've got that for you straight ahead. >> right now, up to a dozen

morning fire in methuen. crews on the scene right now to make sure hot spots do not reignite. >> heather: crews out there right now and stephanie coueignoux is live on the scene. we know a mother and baby had to be treated for smoke inhalation. >> reporter: yeah, heather and jason, mom and baby actually lived next door, but the smoke from the fire was so thick that they had to be hospitalized. taking a look behind me, you can see the fire still on scene. we're talking about the in fact, maybe you can see some of the firefighters going around in flash lights. they're finally able to get to take a look at what happened. i do want to show you when this fire was still happening. from the photos you can see the flames shooting out of the roof. deputy chief scott sullivan told me the fire started on the second floor. thankfully the second floor was

there on the first floor get out safely. as you can imagine, people were sleeping at the time. one firefighter here on scene told me that he doesn't believe the smoke alarms were working. sullivan told us, that it was thanks to the action of two police officers that allowed everyone to get out safely. >> officers went in and got 10 to 20 people out of the building before our arrival and structure was pretty much involved in the second floor into the the attic area head start. >> reporter: again, they've been able to get out those flames. three dogs were also inside. they were able to get out safely. but this building has several unique features. coming up in 30 minutes, the challengers firefighters say they saved when trying to maintain these flames. in methuen, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> heather: all right. we're following breaking news this morning, one person has

oregon. >> [ chanting ]. >> heather: portland police began tweeting about that at 4:00 a.m. our time. it marks another night of violence as they march through the city there. at this point, we do not know if the person was part of the protest. we do know it was in the same area as the march. police ordered anyone who did not notify them immediately. people began throwing objects at police and at cars. >> jason: we're mont toring that situation, meantime, this was the third night, last night, the third night. all around the nation. look at this in new york city last night. where they went to the source of their frustration, right outside of trump tower. >> heather: and in philadelphia people standing in the streets there, blocking traffic. streets shut down. we're also seeing our share of protests right here in boston.

but more of peace and unity. fox 25 was there as demonstrator braved the bitter cold with the message love trump hate. how to come together under a president the group did not vote for. trump supporters on hand for the event as well but started a conversation about overcoming anger. over all, the night was effective and plan on holding similar events in the future. >> jason: a teenager a bike path on the mattapan milton line. they're still investigates and have not made any arrests. fox 25 crews on the scene when they taped off the area where the 16-year-old may have run for helpful he was shot on the bike path around 5:30 last night. he is expected to survive. police have not released any possible motivation about that shooting. >> heather: police in worcester are hunting for three people connected to a hobble home

police were called to the scene around 8:00, and the victims say three people forced their way into the apartment with a gun. ransacked the home and made off with cash. no one was hurt, police now are still investigates. >> jason: four days after the election and president-elect trump is building his administration. this is a look at the hand picked team that will help build his team in the next few weeks at the top mike pence. the next three faces should be familiar former mayor rudy giuliani chris christie and retired governor michael flynn and his three children, ivanka and donald, jr. are on that tip. the washington post is reporting she could be tapped to be the next secretary of defense. two sources with inside knowledge are calling her a top contender for the job. fox 25 reached out to ayotte for comment but we have not heard

was riding his bike when he was hit by a gray toy yet quota venzsa. al fan know remains in critical condition in the hospital. >> heather: a woman caught in the middle of a multistate crime he spree is now recovering. she was driving in taunton connecticut on thursday when they spotted the crash. what they didn't know was the man and woman involved were wanted by police for stealing the car. when she slowed down at the scene she says the barbara is a marshal arts instructor and she says her training might have saved her. >> i had my instincts taught to me that it just took over when i no longer felt safe. >> she says she punched and kicked the man but eventually he got away with the car. they're due in court on monday. barbara's mother was also hurt

death of a marlboro baby continues this morning. that baby boy found unresponsive thursday alongside his parents. fire department officials tell fox 25, they treated two adults for a possible drug overdose. neighbors and class mates identified the parents as 19-year-old delagos and sergei kravtiz. they've not identified the person involved in the case, though. the baby was only two months old. children and families is now involved. >> jason: right in the middle of lunch, cameras captured a car smashing into a building. >> reporter: security cameras caught a scary moment in a restaurant. a man lifted from the seat as the car drives into the window into his booth. >> drove right into the building. >> reporter: watch from this angle and you can see the car go

>> it was again the booth, thank god, he didn't get hurt. >> reporter: jimmy opened jimmies in 1967. >> it was a bomb. >> reporter: debbie was behind the counter. after the initial shock she went outside to check on the driver. >> i was panicking, i thought she was hurt. >> reporter: the woman was not injured neither was the man in the booth. the manas going to that restaurant for nearly 50 years. >> she was very calm. >> she came inside. she ordered food she and her family. >> the truck driver says her foot got caught on the break and she couldn't stop. still ahead in 30 minutes this morning. the change the restaurant just made that likely prevent add much serious situation there in danvers. >> heather: breaking news

>> jason: 1,000 and documenting the number of deadly heroin overdoses fentanyl, is 50 times stronger than heroin. it's also putting first responders in danger. >> he looks at me and he says heroin, mom. i says, do i need to call someone? he says, no, mom, i'm fine, i know what i'm doing. >> as it turns out, it wasn't heroin, that was the last time she spoke with her son.

>> i dread christmases. i hate christmas. >> reporter: she wanted to know what happened. so she had an autopsy done. the cause, acute fentanyl intoxication. a powerful opiate commonly used to ease pain for patients near the end of life. >> he said the amount of fentanyl in his blood system, they were surprised he didn't >> he takes two milligrams of fentanyl as a lethal dose we're talking about a couple of grains of sand. >> reporter: special agent has been tracking the fentanyl here in new england. he says the drug on the street is different than the drug used in hospitals. he says this fentanyl is not only deadly for the users but also to people who respond to overdoses. >> the danger with fentanyl is that if you touch it or you

>> heard the update on that, but the person was turning blue. >> reporter: we ran along with the brewster ambulance in quincy, typical overdose response can be chaotic, which is why the dea is warning first responders that coming in contact with street fentanyl can have fatal consequences. >> we've been advised, it's going to take a lot more than narcan. number two, there's an affect even for the rest of us. >> reporter: paramedics tell us that now an overdose, knowing that fentanyl can be absorbed through the skin, they have to take extra precautions like wearing gloves. >> an overall view of the job to get done, we still have to go in to do what we do. >> reporter: the street drug being made in mexico and smuggled across the border. they first discovered fentanyl in rhode island in december of 2014 and quickly spread throughout new england.

that we encounter or seize, that most likely there's fentanyl mixed in or in fact, it's just fentanyl. >> he says that fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin. and it's hard to tell the two apart. the vial on the left is a fatal dose of heroin. the right, a fatal dose of fentanyl. which is why the dea is encouraging not to do field tests, current sentence to go the atlantic. >> there is no second chances with heart. there wasn't nothing he wouldn't do for you. >> reporter: richard's phone, a reminder of her son, his facebook page, a place dorothy frequently visits. >> i get on there every night and tell him good night. >> fentanyl took the life of her son and left her grandson without a father. she hopes his death will serve as a warning to others about this deadly drug. >> you have to fight for your child. this is the hardest fight you will ever have in your life.

>> jason: that was mark ockerbloom reporting this morning. more than 6 people in our area alone die a day from heroin. right now we're on pace last year's death toll but experts don't know if we've seen the worse of it yet. >> heather: well, the wind of change came in yesterday. and this morning really really cold. >> jason: it was breezy and this morning, more of that. >> jason brewer: blustery cond close to 40 miles an hour. the good news the winds coming down, sustained at 12 miles an hour. but that's enough to give the wind chill of 27 degrees. the good can news, look at that sky from our boston cam. it's clear out there. and we only have clouds linger around the outer reaches, nantucket, currently running 35, to 40 degrees. 30 in worcester, 25 in keene. you see that chilly northwest

water out here over the ocean. you see how the clouds form that instability we talked about, no ocean sprinkles, just a couple of clouds. check out the temperature change we're feeling this morning. we're running 10ta 15 degrees chillier than we were yesterday at this time. and winds, again, not as bad as they were. but still enough to give you the brisk feel in the air. generally 5 to 10 even 15 miles an hour with fewer gusts up to 20, 25. so your wind chill right in worcester, the coldest one on the map. feels like 25 in beverly. and portsmouth too. feels like 26 now. hour by hour, good news, we've got the sunshine here's framingham out look. 40 degrees, by 10:00 in the morning. middle 40s by noontime. and upper 40s by 2:00, 3:00. and then by 5:00 p.m. as the sun is setting. temperatures begin that slide back down. here's lowell. mostly sunny to sunny skies

and similar to framingham, you see numbers in the middle 40s by noon with the high temperatures in the upper 40s today. beverly, lawrence, fitchburg, all of the upper 40s, even near 50 degrees, norwood, you could easily do that, providence new bedford as well. worcester, in the middle 40s. and boston hitting very close to 50 but probably just coming up short. tomorrow's high temperatures, we're going to tack on about 10 degrees to what you're going to be feeling today. it will still be breezy and we'll have plenty of sun around. bu tailgate out at gillette tomorrow. middle 50s at 4:00. by 8:00, we're about 44 degrees. not going to be much wind of the skies will be clear there after sunset. here's your seven-day forecast, the weekend always in view. for tonight, it is chilly, down to 40 degrees. and then a nice recovery tomorrow afternoon. monday, it starts cold but look at this, back to 61, on tuesday,

out to get the paper, you're going to feel it. it hit me when i went to my car this morning. >> heather: wear your winter coat. >> jason: definitely that time. wear a hat. let's go over to jason brewer at this time. tracking windy temperatures too. >> jason brewer: there's that breeze in the air. it does feel pretty crisp and cool. lower and middle 30s right now. with the winds gusting up to around 20, 25 miles an hour, especially the cape and islands, well, there's the wind chill. it feels like 21in feels like 27 in boston. feels like 25 in portsmouth right now. nashua, your forecast today is nice and sunny. and temperatures out of the 30s into the 40s by 10:00 in the morning. noontime, upper 40s and we won't get much higher than that. some spots in the southern areas of grandfather greater boston hit 50 degrees today. but keep it in the 40s especially as you go to the north and west. good news is, winds tapering down, there's plenty of sunshine and there's milder readings not

i have more on that coming up. >> jason: following breaking news from portland oregon. where police say one person was shot during an antitrump protest early this morning. this marks the second night of violent demonstrations in that city. police reporting that people were throwing things at officers there just trying to keep the peace. right now investigators are not saying whether the shooting was tied to the protest or just close to it. but we do know it happened where people were marching in portland. this is people blocking traffic in oh limp pia washington. the state's capital city. groups rallying all day friday, chanting no trump, no kk, no fares u.s.a. in georgia, hundreds there gathered in the streets in atlanta, some of them, as you can see right here, burned an american flag, before trying to make their way on to a highway. president-elect trump has not said anything about last night's

commend thursday night's protesters for their passion. >> jason: also following breaking news overseas where a suicide bomber killed four people at the biggest military base in afghanistan. four people heard at bagram air field as they were getting ready for post veterans day fun run. the victims not identified yet but they say all of the injured are afghan nationals and all of the people killed foreign nationals. the base had several layers of security so it's unclear how someone go suicide vest. >> heather: happening now, crews are on the scene of a fire in methuen. a dozen people evacuated and a mother and baby taken to the hospital. fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is live for us this morning on the scene at the corner of pleasant and broadway streets. stephanie, we've been told this is notten a easy battle for firefighters. >> reporter: yeah. that's because the firefighters say the building that caught fire is historic.

this building is on a hill. you can see that hole in the roof area. that is where the building caught fire. firefighters say they couldn't get the ladder truck very close. and had to drag all of the hoses up this hill making it very challenging. i do want to show you what it looked like when they arrived earlier this morning. you can see from this photo, flames shooting from the roof right there. two boston police officers were actually the first to respond here. and they were the ones who evacuated dogs managed to get out safely. but the smoke was so thick that a mother and baby next door ended up going to the hospital for smoke inhalation. another challenge to firefighters is that roof of this historic building is made out of metal making it hard for them to fight the flames. and that wasn't all. >> i was told that this used to be a church it's wide open on the second floor, which gave the fire a head start also, because

anything like that. >> reporter: thankfully the second floor where the fire started was empty at the time so that allowed everyone to get out safely. but this fire still under investigation this morning as you can see behind me, firefighters are still here on scene monitoring for hot spots. in methuen, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> heather: stephanie, thank you. the friday rush lunch at jimmies in danvers was in full swing when a car came into a window and into a booth where a customer was eating. check out the video right here, you can right through the glass. wow, you see the table moving. that table was pushed. that customer barely able to hop out of the way. the owner had just put a new pain of safety glass in the window which might have saved people in that restaurant. >> we changed it two months ago, thank god it happened and saved the guy's life and everybody else here. >> heather: the driver tells us she had gotten her car detailed, she told police the floor mat

and she was unable to stop. no one was hurt. >> jason: homeowners in franklin are still feeting this weekend after someone went around spray painting houses, cars and signs. more than a dozen homes on elm street. police are not investigating some of it as a hate crime at this point. some of the graffiti is racially charged. one woman had something painted on her front door against of all things the chicago cubs. >> the cubs flag hanging. we used that ammunition to write stuff about the cubs. the cubs won the world series who is mad about that? >> they do think it's kids responsible. >> heather: a man wanted for stalking left his two-year-old alone in the car when he tried to avoid police. anthony neely from salem new hampshire got out of his car and ran off when officers stopped him on route 128, they were able

he's charged with endangering a child and resisting arrest. >> jason: a teenager expected to survive after becoming impaled at a fence. sky fox showed a crew cutting through the brought iron fence to help rescue that 16-year-old girl. the young girl was impaled through her thigh. police are still trying to figure out how that happened. >> heather: aside from the new wynn, boston casino now approved by the gaming commission. some increasing the rooms from 679 to 621. it's in response to how busy hotels in the city are right now. another change eliminating indoor swimming pool and adding exercise equipment. the official opening date of the casino was also decided it will be june 3rd of 2019. >> jason: new england's biggest donut chain is in trouble, the battle over sugar substitute that's taking dunkin' donuts to court.

>> jason: donald trump is not breaking down on immigration plans. those could have big implications for massachusetts. he could give a program for temporary work permits brought to the country, illegally as children. there are more than 12,000 dreamers in massachusetts that could lose their legal status. >> heather: 6:42 now. and bill cosby expects to be cleared of sexual assault charges and restart his show business career. working a defamation lawsuit filed against cosby by seven women in massachusetts. cosby's attorney wants the judge to now seal information about the comedian's pay and personal finances so his career won't be damaged when he returns to it. prosecutors argue cosby has no future in show business. though, he won't be hurt if that information comes out. he has pleaded not guilty to sexual assaulting a woman in pennsylvania. and about 50 women claim cosby

>> 6:42 this saturday and the company that makes splenda is now suing dunkin' donuts. dunkin' donuts used to use splenda but cut ties this year. now they offer the chinese made off brand sugar that comes in yellow packets like splenda. the company behind splenda says the staff was falsely indicate splenda used in its products. the dunkin has not filed a response to the case yet. >> heather: coming up of the glitch that's telling people they're dead. >> jason: plus 15 vets getting a special thank you for their service. >> i had gotten an e-mail about it. i didn't believe it. but it was true.

making sure the hot spots is do not reignite. >> heather: we find stephanie coueignoux live on the scene. stephanie, a mother and a baby had to be treated for smoke inhalation on the scene. >> reporter: yeah. and heather and jason, mom and baby actually lived next door. but the smoke from the fire was so thick that they did have to be hospitalized. taking a look behind me, you can see the fire department still blocked off pleasant street. and just about 30 seconds ago, two investigators still trying to determine exactly what happened. i do want to show you some photos, though, of when the fire was still going. and you can see from the photos, the flames shooting out of the roof. again, the cause this morning, still under investigation. but deputy chief cut sullivan told me the fire started on the second floor. thankfully the second floor was empty, which absolutely helped everyone living inside get out. they were all on the first floor. but, again, this started very early in the morning.

on monday. the investigation into the death of a baby in marlboro continues this weekend. that baby boy was found unresponsive thursday alongside his parents. a fire department official tells fox 25, they treated two adults for a possible drug overdose. neighbors and classmates identified the parents for us, as 19-year-old grecia gallegos and 23-year-old sergei kravtiz. the district attorney has not identified those people, though. according to was only two months old. we're told the department of children and families is involved now. >> jason: this is pretty scary, cameras capture a car slamming into a sandwich shop in danvers. a very close call for a man trying to enjoy his meal. >> reporter: security cameras capture the scary moment. a man lifted from his seat as the car drives into the window and into his booth. >> just drove right into the building.

body of a missing gloucester fisherman. it was discovered near shore drive in gloucester yesterday. police say de-santos was swept out to sea tuesday by a big wave while fishing on rocks with a friend. that other man was able to cling to a rock and he was rescued. this as the coast guard suspended its search for three missing boaters from new bedford. the group left the cape cod marina for a fishing trip tuesday. a friend reported them the coast guard covered nearly 4,000 nautical miles in cape cod bay. but never found the fishermen or their boat. >> jason: we have video showing the pitch black conditions crews were up against. sky fox up in the scene over the daylight hours. the coast guard says the man were sailing when they ran aground yesterday afternoon and radioed for helpful a choker was sent to get the men off of the boat. the good news, they were not

the doctor at boston children's hospital, he says you shouldn't use a discolored epi pen, an expired epi pen may be -- fox 25 found a recent study that tested two years after their expiration date and found 94% or more retention in the epinephrine dose listed on the label for all go ahead and use it but should always call 911 and go to the hospital afterwards. >> allison, says if the choice of saving her kids is clear. >> if that's all you have, it's better than nothing. >> heather: beyond the expiration date, the product may not remain safe for use. the company also announced it's making a generic epi pen, $300

they were getting ready for the post veterans day fun run. the victims not identified. but all of the injured are afghan nationals and all of the people killed are foreign nationals. the base had several layers of security. so it's still unclear how someone was able to get inside with a suicide vest. >> heather: time now 7:32. happening now, crews on the scene of a fire in methuen. about a dozen people evacuated including a mother and baby who had to be taken to the hospital. fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is morning on the corner of broadway streets and stephanie this wasn't easy for firefighters. >> reporter: yeah, that's because this is a historic building. it used to be an old church. take a look behind me, this is firefighters here. this is the blue building we're talking about. you can see it's on a hill. firefighters say they couldn't get their ladder truck very

hoses up this hill making for challenging situations. i do want to show you video of early this morning and you can see from the photos flames shooting from the roof. two police officers were actually the first to respond. they were the ones who evacuated everyone. all 10 to 12 residents and three dogs were able to get out safely. the smoke so thick that a mother and the baby next door went to the hospital for smoke inhalation. now firefighters tell me that the roof is made out o the second floor wide open, which caused those flames to spread so quickly. and i just spoke with one man who witnessed this entire thing. he says that he woke up to a loud cracking noise and raced outside. >> i heard all kind of racket. and i went outside, and on the right-hand side of this building here, the flames were sky high. they fought hard and tried to contain it. they did a pretty good job. because it was up pretty good. >> reporter: thankfully no one

so she couldn't stop. fortunately, as you saw, no one was hurt. >> jason: homeowners in franklin still seeding this weekend after someone ran around their neighborhood, spray painting homes, cars and signs. it happened to more than a dozen homes in franklin. police do not believe it's politically motivated and right now they're not investigating as a hate crime. but some of the graffiti there is racially charged. one woman had something offensive painted on her garage chicago cubs. >> a cubs flag hanging so they obviously used that as ammunition to write things about the cubs. the cubs won the world series who is mad about that? >> jason: police do not have suspects, but they do believe kids were involved. >> heather: a man wanted for stalking left his two-year-old alone in a car as he tried to evade police. he got in his car and ran off when officers got to him on route 128.

have to be hospitalized for motor vehicle inhalation. taking a behind me, the fire swept through, a number of fire investigators standing outside. that investigation into exactly what caused this fire just getting underway right now. i do want to show you photos from when the fire was still going earlier this morning. from that photo you can see flames shooting out of the roof. the cause is still under investigation. told me the fire started on the second floor. thankfully that floor was actually empty. which certainly helped all residents get out safely. people of course were sleeping at the time. this happened very early in the morning. one firefighter actually told me that he doesn't believe the smoke alarms were working. sullivan says it was actually thanks to the quick action of two police officers that allowed everyone to get out safely. >> officers went in and got approximately 10 to 20 people

election and president-elect trump is hand picking his administration. this is team picked by the next few weeks. mike pence, the vice-president. and everybody else should be pretty familiar by now. rudy giuliani, chris christie and retired lieutenant general michael flynn. and three of trump's children, ivanka, eric and donald, jr. also on that transition team. also getting affairs in order when it comes to his businesses. the trump organization in the process of putting his company in the hands children who you just saw, ivanka, eric, jr. and eric trump. it's not clear how much distance that would move between the administration and the company. since as we just reported the trump children are also being tapped to be on their father's transitional team. it's not illegal for a u.s. president to keep control of private assets. trump's position follows the path of most president. but trump does have a stake in

night. is expected to survive. no possible motive released. >> heather: a home in worcester home invasion on fielding street while four people were home. police were called to that scene around 8:00 last night and the victims say three people forced their way into that apartment with a gun. they ransacked the home and ran off with cash. no one was hurt but police are still investigating. >> jason: this morning, a man is hospitalized with a critical head working to track down the driver who hit him. on washington and broadway in taunton. 36-year-old michael alfano riding his bike when hit by a gray 2006 toyota. officers looking for that driver and alfano remains in critical condition in the hospital. >> heather: a woman caught in a multistate crime spree now talking about her ordeal as she recovers from her stab wound. she was driving in taunton connecticut on thursday when they spotted a crash.

man and woman wanted in that crash were wanted by police for stealing the car. when barbie slowed down, she says the man reached into her car and attacked. she is a marshal arts instructor, though, she says it's fortunately her training that likely saved her life. >> i had these instincts taught to me that it just took over. when i no longer felt safe. >> heather: barbie says she punched and kicked the man. but ultimately he did manage to get away with the car. caught, though, in worcester. they are now due in court monday. barbie's mother also hurt. she's now scheduled for surgery on monday. the investigation into the death of a marlboro baby continues this weekend. that baby boy was found unresponsive on thursday alongside his parents. a fire department official tells fox 25, those two adults were treated for a possible drug overdose. neighbors and classmates identify the parents to fox 25

upper 20s. look at worcester, feels like 20 at the observing station at the airport. there you go around the common. 25 to 50. normal 53. a little cooler than that. the wind subsides we need our sunglasses. i do expect sunshine all day. heather and jason back to you. >> jason: following breaking news in portland oregon, where police say one person was shot during an antitrump protest. and we can tell you that police was s person who got into an argument inside of a car. that person shot the man and took off. that victim expected to survive. this marks the second night of violent demonstrations in the city. also reporting that people were out there throwing things at officers that were just trying to keep the peace. >> heather: the third night of antitrump marches not limited to part land. this is video of people blocking

washington. no trump, no kkk, no fascious u.s.a., they were chanting. in atlanta, burning an american flag there. and protesters trying to make their way on a highway. trump right now hasn't said anything about last night's demonstrations. but he did commend thursday's protesters for their passion. >> jason: the taliban is now claiming responsibility for their attack in an in afghanistan. four people killed and 14 hurt. and it happened at 5:30 local time. the attack was being planned for several months before it was carried out. victims not identified yet. but afghan officials say those killed are foreign nationals while all of the people hurt are afghan knee. the base has several levels of security. so it's still unclear how someone was able to get inside with a suicide vest.

methuen working to figure out how it started. this after dozens of people had to be evacuated including a mother and baby who had to be hospitalized. fox 25 stephanie coueignoux monitoring the situation all morning long and joins us from the corner of pleasant and broadway streets. this was a tough fire for firefighters. >> reporter: yeah, that's because it was a historic building. and it was actually a church. take a look behind of fire trucks just showed up likely switching shifts right now. we're talking about this blue building up on the hill. that's one of the challenges. one of their fire trucks fire ladders couldn't get very close to pour the water on. they had to carry those hoses up the hill and up all of those steps right there. i do want to show you some photos of what it looked like when they arrived earlier this morning. from the photos you can see the flames shooting from the roofer. two police officers were

respond. and they were the ones to evacuate everyone inside. all 10 to 12 residents as well as three dogs able to get out safely. however, they told me the smoke from the fire was so thick that a mother and baby living next door ended up going to the hospital for smoke inhalation. firefighters say this old historic building had a metal roof. they also said that the second floor was wide open. and that actually caused the flames to spread very quickly. earlier we spoke with one who says that he woke up to a very loud cracking noise and ran outside. >> i heard all kind of racket. so i ran outside. and on the right-hand side of this building here. the flames were sky high. they fought hard and they tried to contain it. they did a pretty good job because it was up pretty good. >> reporter: yeah, and when we showed you the close up of that building. you could see that part of that second floor was destroyed by this. luckily no one was actually living on the second floor at the time.

ladder truck. and we are expecting them to start pouring water on to that area. i do want to show you photos of when the fire was still going this morning. from the photos you can see the flames shooting out of the roof. that's where the worse of the damage is. the cause still under investigation. but deputy chief scott sullivan told me that the fire started on the second floor. now, thankfully the second floor was empty, which helped all of the residents living there get out safely of a lot of people were sleeping. one firefighter told me that he doesn't believe any of the smoke alarms were actually working. sullivan says he thinks it was thanks to the action of two police officers that allowed everyone to get out safely. >> officers went in and got approximately 10 to 12 people out of the building before our arrival and the structure was pretty much fully involved from the second floor into the attic area so it had a pretty good

it does mark another night of violence as demonstrators marched through that city and across the nation. it comes on the heals of chaos thursday night when protests turned to riots as people began throwing objects at police and cars. >> jason: staying on on of that situation in portland. in the meantime, look at this situation in new york city as protesters went straight to source of all of their frustration and gathered at trump tower. >> heath people standing in the streets there in protest, blocking traffic. we're also seeing our share of protests in our area as well. today another one scheduled to happen this time in worcester. more than 400 people plan on gathering on the worcester common and in front of city hall today to demonstrate against the president-elect. the protesters plan to be there between noon and 3:00 p.m. >> jason: a teenager hospitalized after being shot on the mattapan milton line on a

arrests. cameras on scene as police taped off the area where the 16-year-old may have been running looking for helpful he was shot were and 5:30 last night on the bike path. he is expected to survive and police have not released any information about a possible movengs there. >> heather: police in worcester are looking for three people in connection to a home invasion on fielding street while four people were home. police were called to that scene around 8:00 last night. and the victims say thr forced into the victim's apartment armed with a gun those people ransacked the home and made off with some cash. fortunately, no one was hurt and it's under investigation right now. >> jason: donald trump is slowly hand building his administration. at the top in the far left is vice-president mike pence, the next three names and faces you know, rudy giuliani, chris

driving in taunton connecticut on thursday when it spotted a car crash. what they didn't realize, no way of knowing, the man and woman involved, were actually wanted by police for stealing the car they were in. when barbie slowed down at the scene, she says the man reached into her car and attacked her. the good news, she's a martial arts instructor and she says her training likely saved her life. >> i had these instincts taught to me that it just took over. when >> heather: so fortunate for that. barbie says she was able to punch and kick the man. but ultimately he did get away with the car. the man and woman were eventually caught in worcester. they are now due in court monday. barbie's mother was also hurt. she is now scheduled for surgery on monday. the investigation into the death of a baby in marlboro continues this weekend. that baby boy was found unresponsive thursday alongside his parents.

the pair were treated for a possible drug overdose. neighbors and classmates have identified the parents to fox 25 as 19-year-old grecia gallegos and 23-year-old sergei kravtiz. the da hasn't officially identified those people. but according to neighbors the baby was only about two months old. we're now told the department of children and families is investigates. >> jason: right in the middle of lunch. cameras catch a car slamming into a popular danvers. a man just trying to enjoy his meal. >> reporter: security cameras capture a scary moment inside of a restaurant of a man lifted from his seat as a man drives into the seat. watch again from this angle and you can see the glass, forcing the customer to his feet. >> there was a guy in the booth thank god he didn't get hurt.

allison's bag had turned color. not even this one, which expired in 2012. according to mylan's website, discoloration changes indicate the effectiveness of the drug may have decreased or been affected. fox 25 contacted dozens of labs and hospitals in the area to test allison's expired epi pens for their effectiveness, but all of them declined. >> that's a common misbelief. >> reporter: dr. john lee a clinical director of at boston children's hospital. a discolored epi pen, an expired injection may be better than nothing. >> and actually, most epi pens that are expired won't have any discoloration. so you really should just rely upon the expiration date. >> reporter: fox 25 found a recent study that tested 35 injectors two years past their expiration date and found that 90% or more effectiveness.

antitrump marches not limited to portland by any means. video of crowds blocking traffic in olympia, washington state's capital. groups there rallying all day friday. chanting things like no trump, no kkk, no fascious u.s.a. meantime, this is the scene in georgia, hundreds gathering through the streets of that city. some even burning the american flag, which you saw in that photo right there. in the meantime, trying to make trump hasn't said anything about last night's protests, but he did commend thursday night's demonstrators for their passion. >> jason: breaking news overseas taliban claiming responsibility for the deadly attack in bagram air field in afghanistan. 4 people killed, 14 injured, during a veterans day fun run 5:00 a.m. local time. the attack was planned for several months before it was carried out.

killed are foreign nationals while other people hurt are afghan. the base had several layers of security, so still unclear how how somebody was able to breach the outside layers with a suicide vest. >> heather: here at home, happening right now. crews on the scene of a fire that happened overnight in methuen. after about a dozen people had to be evacuated. including a mother and a baby rushed to the hospital. fox 25 stephanie coueignoux live for us this morning at the scene at the corner of pleasant and broadway streets. for firefighters? >> reporter: yeah, that's because this is a historic building. so the way it was built it was very challenging for firefighters. now they just poured water on a hot spot. there was smoke we showed you 30 minutes ago billowing from the roof. that has since dissipated. we're talking about this light blue building on a hill. one of the reasons it's so challenging is because it's on a hill. so the ladder truck couldn't reach it very well.

there. i do want to show you some photos from whenever ifs arrived earlier this morning. and from these photos, you can see the flames there shooting from the roof. two police officers were actually the first to respond. and they were the ones to evacuate everyone. all 10 to 20 people living inside and three dogs able to get out safely. but the smoke was so thick that a mother and baby who were actually living next door had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation. now firefighters say and the second floor is wide open. so, again, part of that design, making it challenging and allowing those flames to spread very quickly. we spoke with one man earlier this morning who says that he woke up to a very loud cracking noise and then raced outside. >> i heard all kind of racket. so i went outside and on the right-hand side of this building here, the flames are sky high. so they fought hard and they tried to contain it. they did a pretty good job.

enough to give you a chill. feels like 29 in boston. 23 in worcester and some of those colder spots dealing with the breeze along the coast in particular. ipswich, sunny here for today. looking just fine out there. just a little on the breezy side. but with that sunshine. we're in the mid and upper 40s today. same thing around framingham. temperatures by 11:00, recovering into the lower 40s. at 1:00, into 47. high temperatures close to 50 in between hours. and then we begin to slide ba we're slipping back down to the lower 40s. there are your high temperatures today. a couple of 50s as you go southward norwood, the south coast. upper 40s along the north shore and around fitchburg. and we see high temperatures tomorrow right back into the 50s or better. i think a couple of spots could even get to 60 degrees on sunday afternoon. so that sets us up for a great tailgate. sunny skies. we'll still have a breeze tomorrow. but it dies off after sunset.

degrees under clear skies. then there's this next storm to watch. we have low pressure developing down here over the carolinas and now over the georgia coastline making its way toward us. on monday, we're still dry, we're still bright. by tuesday morning, a few showers already pushing on to our coastline. and then they build up northward throughout the day. tuesday, it's a likely rain day, we'll have some wind we'll also have minor coastal flooding concerns because we have the super high astronomical tides and any on shore winds we get will add to that problem. that's one thing to keep close tabs on. as far as the rain amounts best to say lower amounts west. higher amounts to the east. you see that dividing line between the green and the yellow illustrating that for you. here's your seven-day forecast. with the weekend always in view. at 50 today and sunny. a bit on the breezy side. but not as windy like yesterday. tonight is chilly again at 30 degrees.
