victoria warren joins us on the phone live from worcester with the very latest. >> reporter: good morning, jadiann. police confirming for us there's a fatality out here in worcestur and what we've been able to piece together is just before midnight last night worcester officials responded to a call for a car fire on swan avenue, off a dirt road in this section of worcester. and that's when, as they were fighting the fire, they car. worcester police got called to the scene. they put the fire out but clearly there's a police investigation as well as a fire investigation that's taken over. what they have done is blocked off an entire section of road up here, keeping us pretty far back but down further on the road where the road turns into a dirt road, that's where this car was located. it's in the woods behind washington heights. so they'll be out here all morning long working to try and figure out what exactly

happened, what led to the fire, where this body came from. so very active scene, very active investigation at this point. we're hoping to get an update from police this morning but what we have learned so far is just before midnight, a car fire and then they discovered a body inside of the car. we're live in worcester, victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: thank you. developing this morning, the faa expected on the scene of a deadly plane crash near queens, new york and nypd says they've recovered one body. debris from the care aircraft was registered in new hampshire. john cuoco is at the airport in portsmouth. week. >> reporter: sources say the plane was registered in new hampshire and took off in portsmouth tuesday morning, landing in philadelphia the same day. the plane took off again from philadelphia last night.

for more parts of the plane in the harbor near queens. investigators recovered debris last night, including what appeared to be the fuselage and wing after receiving 911 calls about a small plane going down by breezy point. one body has been recovered. according to the new york daily news, investigators will be coming to portsmouth today to try and identify the victim. >> we just uncovered part of the wing and we're searching for more parts. >> reporter: the search was called off after midnight. it's unclear at this point when it will resume. we're live in portsmouth, new new new hampshire, john cuoco, "7 news today in new england." >> jadiann: an elderly woman

dead and another injured after hit by an suv in boston's south end. the driver is telling police solar glare made it impossible to see the women. the two were friends, in a crosswalk at tremont and west boylston streets. the grandmother of six lived a few blocks from the scene. people who live and work in the area say it's a dangerous spot. >> that's what the lady kept saying, i couldn't see anything. the sun was in my face. you just can't see, especially -- at this crosswalk here, a lot of cars always -- people trying to cross and -- it's always like that. like people trying to cross and cars going by. >> jadiann: the driver of the suv was also taken to the hospital to be checked out. so far no charges have been filed. happening later today, jury selection is set to resume in philip chism's murder trial. the selection process stopped three weeks ago so chism could

undergo a mental evaluation. the judge declared him competent to stand trial. jurors who have already been seated are expected to be questioned about whether they kept their pledge about avoiding coverage. philip chism was accused of killing colleen ritzer. >> christa: metro jet airlines is grounding all airbus 23 jets. the same one that crashed over egypt. meantime u.s. and british officials have reason to believe a bomb may have brought down the plane. let's go to nick emmons. intelligence. >> reporter: that's right. this bomb theory is not confirmed. officials say it's based on intercepted communications that can sometimes be misleading. this morning officials are investigating whether isis got to ground crew or baggage handlers at the airport.

a body inside the car so worcester police got called out as well. the fire has been put out but we have a very active police investigation. they're going to talk with folks in the area to see if they heard or saw anything unusual. but this is a dead-end street. at the end of the street it's somewhat wooded and there are not too many people around once you get further into the area so they'll be here for some time and hopefully update us with more details. again, this was something that was breaking news overnight just before midnight, this report of a car fire then a discovery of a body inside of that car. live in worcester, victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: police in wareham searching for a robber on the run. surveillance images captures the man walking into a store with a knife. police say he demanded money from the clerk and then the clerk suffered a small cut when he tried to grab the knife. the robber got away with cash.

discovery in a burned car. >> christa: firefighters found a body in this charred wreckage. there's go to victoria warren in worcester right now to let us know more. >> reporter: good morning. police are still on the scene here and where we're talking about is behind me. you can see where that police car is. this is swan avenue in worcester. if you continue up this street, it turns into almost like a dirt road and it's pretty -- nor more desolate and that's where this car was found just before midnight. worcester fire officials got the call for a car fire so they came to put out the fire and then called for worcester police to come to the scene as well. we've been told there is a death investigation going on and there are reports a body was found inside of that burning car. so police have been out here all night. the fire clearly out at this point but a lot of questions remain about the circumstances leading up to all of this.

even though there are plenty of homes down here where the police have the street blocked off and where i'm standing, when you get up there, there are far fewer people so it's a little bit more work for police to try and see if anybody heard anything out of the ordinary or saw anything out of the ordinary. so we're hoping to get an update from worcester police at some point on this death investigation that resulted after firefighters got called to a car fire. victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> jadiann: also breaking news out maine. police say a gunman has shot and killed three people in a home in oakland in the central part of the state. they say the 43-year-old shooter then turned the gun on himself. the victims are two women and a man between ages 28 and 30. police say they also found a four-year-old girl inside the home. that girl is unharmed. investigators are trying to find a motive.

took off from portsmouth yesterday morning landing in philadelphia safely that same day. flight records show the plane took off again from philadelphia last night but crashed in waters off queens. officials say one body was recovered but the search for other victims was called off last night because of weather. they're expected back later today. crews in new york are searching for more parts of the plane in the harbor near queens. investigators recovered debris last night, including what appears to be a fuselage and wing after receiving 911 calls of a small plane going down by breezy point. crews on the scene say the plane is a four to six seater but it's unclear if anyone else was onboard. the faa is also investigating. investigators will be here in portsmouth trying to identify this victim today. live in portsmouth, john cuoco, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: an elderly woman is dead, another seriously injured after they were hit by an suv in boston's south end.
