officers. >> kris: some of those bullets striking a police vehicle in the area. nicole oliverio is live with more on these breaking details. nicole, what have you learned? >> nicole: kris, the good news is we know no officers were hurt. nobody was hurt. they say it ended peacefully. this all happening when the norton police department say they received a call around 9:30 last night to an incident on john scott boulevard. they say it was a domestic incident where man had gotten into an argument with a woman inside of the home. when police scene, that woman managed to get out of that house. she had a young child with her. they say the suspect inside was irrational and barricaded himself inside the home. they say at one point that suspects claimed he had over 500 rounds of ammunition. officers staged that area. again, there were shots fired from inside the house. it hit a police officer's patrol car, but we're told that no officers were injured. they finally managed to get that

her bus stop last week. >> i think it's great they have an arrest. obviously if somebody does that to a person, it could happen to somebody else. they didn't have much to go on. >> jennifer: police say allen grabbed her by the neck from behind and threw her to the ground. a witness was able to intervene and save her from the attack. >> this is a fairly closely knit neighborhood. people watch out for their neighbors. >> jennifer: police say allen lives on puritan road, the same area where the attack happened. officers saying what evidence led him to the teen, but they say they hope the arrest will make the community feel safer. police haven't commented on a possible motive for this case. allen heads to falmouth district court later this morning. live in bourne, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: happening today, a suspect is set to face a judge after a deadly shooting that happened in dorchester. police say two men were arguing inside of a home on westcottage westcottage -- west cottage street on thursday morning.

investigators say this 59-year-old was hit right near wellesley square around 6:30 last night, the accident forcing matt bush officials to shut down the framingham-worcester line for more than an hour. >> you could hear the engineer scream, "emergency, emergency," and then we came to a sudden stop. so it's an unfortunate situation. you don't want to... you know, you're not worried about yourself anymore. you're concerned about who they probably hit. >> kris: right now police do not suspect foul play. >> christa: and a teens facing hate crime charges after they allegedly harassed and assaulted a woman on the "t." all 15 years old. they were arraigned in court thursday. prosecutors say the victim boarded a red line train last monday, and that's when the teens started verbally harassing her and mocking her accent. then when the victim tried the leave, they allegedly blocked her. one of the teens allegedly struck her in the face with a cell phone. the suspects are all due back in court coming up later this month. boston mayor marty walsh is

15 degrees warmer across the cape and about 15 degrees cooler in the low-lying areas. you feel pretty chilly this morning. right now mostly sunny skies. a few additional clouds across the cape. and the cape is going to be breezier than the rest of us here today, as well. but everybody is looking at some nice friday sunshine here. temperature-wise, your travel forecast showing minneapolis in the low 30s. you can see we're going to be looking at actually that system moving our way. that's currently going the track through the ohio valley. so today is the last warmay temperatures in the mid-40s there. then we're looking at low pressure pushing into our neck of the woods. so low pressure is just tracking in from the midwest. that has already brought up to six inches of snow to duluth. the system does push in from our west, bringing us the chance for mostly rain, but we could see some snow actually in western massachusetts, across the berkshires. as well as potentially into the worcester hills. you can see the low pressure system does push further to our north. we're getting some winds associated with that here.

making a startling discover inside a nashua high school, a loaded gun. it was in a backpack in nashua south. it all started when a 17-year-old started having a seizure. school officials searched his backpack and found a gun inside. that teen was taken to the hospital for treatment. >> christa: about 1,100 tickets sold to the canceled grand prix in boston race have been refunded and more are on the way.?maura healey says $650s been refunded. the race was scheduled for labor dayke april. an electrical worker is doing okay after being stuck for more than an hour in cambridge. the worker was installing christmas lights at raymond park on thursday when the controls on his bucket truck failed. coworker tried to lower him, but the truck wouldn't work. firefighters had to reach a bucket of their own to reach the man and brick him back to solid ground. >> kris: police in hingham reminded why they go to work after receiving thank you noted from a young resident.

through colorado. they've grabbed up to a foot of snow in wyoming and montana. so some pretty impressive system. it's going to bring us some moisture, but for your friday forecast, we keep that high pressure. that scoots off as we head into saturday. we'll see some increasing cloud cover even by saturday afternoon. you can see that low pressure system off to our west pushing on in. and as it does so, i do think we're looking at the chance for some snow in western massachusetts, the berkshires seeing some of that snow and then as you can see, lots of green through most of massachusetts. so that's really what we could see a couple flurries in the merrimack valley, worcester hills, as well. and most of that snow staying significantly to our west. but we do have a push of cold air headed our way into the start of next week. as the jetstream does change its pattern. so we've had very warm weather, but take a look into next week, the jetstream does dip and ushers in some chilly canadian air for us with highs into next week in the mid-40s. so some cooler weather headed our way. >> kris: wren, thanks so much.

officers. >> kris: one of those bullets hit a police vehicle. nicole oliverio is live with breaking details. nicole? >> nicole: chris, the good news is no officers were hurt and police say the standoff ended peacefully with that suspect under arrest. this all happened around 9:30 last night when north whereon -- norton police responded to a call on john scott boulevard for a domestic incident. the suspect inside had a handgun. a woman and young child were also inside that home and but they say that suspect barricaded himself inside of the home, claiming that he had 500 rounds of ammunition. that's when police staged an area around the home. shots were then fired at the officers. some of the bullets actually hitting a police car. police, though, did not return fire, instead they used a negotiator who finally managed to get that suspect out of the house. they managed to put him under arrest. he was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. but he's now facing a number of charges.

7news "today in new england." >> kris: new this morning a rhode island youth football league has lifted a ban on a providence team that allowed a 19-year-old to play in a youth game. the team was kicked out of the league after the man took the field the play with 13 and 14 year olds last month. the coach of that team has been fired. two men are facing murder charges after a gruesome discovery that was made in new jersey. police found the body of a 26-year-old connecticut man stuffed in a suitcase then buried in jersey. officers arrested two men thursday after they allegedly stabbed the victim in a new york city apartment building. >> you don't expect this to happen to anybody that you know or to any friend that you have, but especially a guy like him. >> kris: investigators believe the suspects were at a party with the victim last weekend. >> christa: also this morning, federal prosecutors resting their case for the execution of convicted killer gary lee

thursday. family mention of sampson's victims took the stand and they described their pain of losing their loved ones. the father of one of the victims says the jury really needed to hear their stories. >> that's what this is about. it's not about anything else except jonathan and eli. >> he was a good kid. he did a lot of things. i think he had a lot of promise. i think people should just know that. >> christa: sampson was convicted of killing three people. he was initially sentenced to overturned because of juror misconduct. a vermont man pleading guilty to the drunk driving crash that killed his best friend. 20-year-old joseph cassano admitted to motor vehicle homicide and o.u.i. on thursday. he was sentenced to three and a half years in jail in addition to three years of probation. police say he was behind the wheel when he crashed into a utility pole in beverly, killing 19-year-old craig sampson, who had been sitting right there in the passenger seat. the victim's father says he

yourself? >> jennifer: allen jumped into the car while a female driver tried to hide her face. bourne police arrested allen after officers say he tried kidnapping a 14-year-old girl as she was walking to her bus stop on puritan road last week. >> i think it's great they have an arrest. obviously if somebody does that to a person, it could happen to somebody else. i'm surprised. they didn't have much to gon grabbed her by the neck from behind and threw her to the ground. a witness was able to intervene and save her from the attack. >> this is a fairly closely knit neighborhood. people watch out for their neighbors. >> jennifer: police say allen lives on puritan road, the same area where the attack happened. officers aren't saying what evidence led them to the teen, but they say they hope the arrest will make the community feel safer. and police aren't saying anything about a possible motive in this case right now. allen heads to falmouth district court later this morning. live in bourne, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england."

is on the hunt for the so-called "spelling bee bandit." he's a serial bank robber who investigators say is passing notes that have a distinct misspelling i guess to the teller. 7's victoria warren is live in peabody with more on how this man got his nickname. vicki? >> victoria: good morning, kris. the f.b.i. gave him his nickname because he apparently has some trouble spelling the word "robbery." the last bank they believe he hit washi peabody, and that was last sunday around 1:00 in the afternoon. he's on the f.b.i.'s most wanted web site. now, in peabody this bank was robbed and it's a rash of robberies over the last two weeks. in every case this man is wearing sunglasses. he writes the word "robbery," misspelling it by leaving out a "b." that's why they're calling him a spelling bee bandit. he's wearing a baseball cap. the f.b.i. is concerned because he's getting more aggressive.

fallen. as we head into the rest of our forecast, we're just looking at high pressure through today. this starts the lose its grip on us as we head enter our saturday forecast. into saturday afternoon, cloud cover thickens up, you can see this frontal system headed our way. that's going the track further to our north. we do get some moisture associated with this system. auburn you can see some blues soak the berkshires. we're looking at this potential for flurries, a bit of a mix. we start to usher in that cooler air. that could allow changeover from showers to a built of snow. sunday once we day, you can see we're really looking at mostly just showers here. scattered showers throughout the day. throughout eastern mass, a couple flurries mixed in with those showers potentially into late sunday night. but again, most of that will stay to our west. worcester hills potentially seeing a couple flurries. all of that melting as soon as it hits the ground. you can see as we head into next week, we usher in cool canadian air. the jetstream changes it pattern after that upper-level low moves through. we put very cool air in place

police. a check of your friday morning top stories now. a teen from born is set to face a judge after police say he tried to kidnap a young girl. officers say 18-year-old john allen attacked the 14-year-old as he was walking to our bus step last week. according to police, he grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. a witness was there and did manage to intervene and this morning the girl is still recovering. and three teenage girls charged with hate crime after police say they attacked a who they thought was an imgrand. a prosecutor says the victim boarded the red line train when the teen started verbally harassing her, mocking her act accent. when the victim tried the leave, one of the teens allegedly struck her in the face with a cell phone. >> kris: trouble video of several hard hits and two key players on the sideline. nancy chen has more of what

watch. the this is first time the umass boston men's soccer team has made it to the sweet 16, but two players will be forced to miss this weekend's game after they delivered illegal hits during sunday's game. both players received red cards, which means they were ejected and suspended for the next game. in the first half of sunday's game, a player pulled down brockton native joshua khan. he responded by kicking the ball in the opponents' face. then in the second half, just moments after scoring the tying an opponent for throwing down another opponent. as you would expect, the referee called a foul on william, but moments after the ref issued a red card on him, he responded by delivering a head-butt to the official. you can see the ref holding his head as he tries to keep his balance. and at another point in the game, it appears a different umasss be player head-butted an opponent. the referees did in the call a foul on that contact. umasss be went on to win that

of ammunition. that's when norton police along with swat team members surrounded the home, created a staging area. they say the suspect then opened fire. some of those bullets actually hitting police cars. again, fortunately no officers were injured, and police did not return fire. and finally, they managed to get that suspect out of the home after negotiators spoke with him. he was taken to a nearby hospital, but he also faces a number of charges. we're live in norton, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: this morning an arrest has been made in the assault and attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in bourne. the teen is facing some charges today. 7's jennifer eagan is live in bourne this morning with the latest. >> jennifer: kris, people in this area were glad the hear police made an arrest. it's a troubling case. 18-year-old john allen facing charges of attempted kidnap, strangulation and assault and battery. he was booked at the bourne police department yesterday and then released on bail.

allegedly grabbed a 14-year-old girl as she walked to her bus stop, threw her to the ground and had his hands around her neck. a witness intervened and the attack her ran off. this all happened on puritan road. allen lives on that road. police haven't said anything about a possible motive in this case or what led them to allen. allen was placed under arrest yesterday here at the police station. he heads to court in falmouth later today. we're live in bourne this morning, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: right now the so-called spelling bee bandit. a serial bank robber who investigators say passes a distinct note over to tellers. let's go to's victoria warren. she's in peabody with more on how he got his nickname. vicki? >> victoria: well, christa, the f.b.i. gave him his nickname because apparently he has trouble spelling the word "robbery." and they believe he's responsible for several bank robbery, including the latest one here in peabody at this td bank. the f.b.i. has his picture on

the td bank in peabody was robbed at 1:00 sunday afternoon. and it is the latest in a rash of robberies over the last two weeks. in every case this man is wearing sunglasses. he hands a note with the word "robbery" on it, but misspelling the word by leaving out a b. that's why they're calling him the spelling b ban did. he's often wearing a baseball cap, and the f.b.i. is concerned because they say he's getting more aggressive with each successive robbery. they believe he's responsible for at least four, one in arlington, one in reading, one in burlington, and one in peabody. so if you have any information about who this man may be, they want the hear from you. there is an aware being offered through the mass most wanted tip program. live in peabody, victoria warren, 7news "today in new england." >> kris: three teenage girls charged with a hate crime after an attack on the "t." police say they targeted a woman who they thought was an immigrant. two of the 15 year olds were arraigned in court yesterday
