center of the basketball court has caution signs as kids practice around the buckets and trash cans full of water. water. 3 "my life changed instantly, when i walked through the doors at phillis wheatley." samuel dotson is the artistic director at the center he also attended it when he was younger. he says the dancers are working in tight and precarious quarters because of the buckets. buckets. 3 "you're scared like when you're doing some movements you're going to slip up and fall over water, or a puddle of water is going to fall on your head, it's difficult but we get the job done."just last year the director stood on the roof for 8 days in an effort to collect donations for the center.
