suspect in a deadly des moines shooting. the shooting is one of three to take place in the area over the weekend... we hear arguing, and then we hear a car alarm go off for a good 20 minutes. and then, all the sudden, it sounded like fireworks - pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. polk county deputies were called to the 43 hundred block of northwest 6th street yesterday morning. when they arrived... they heard several gunshots at "evolution nightclub"... then found a victim nearby. 20 year old dashwan smith was he died. a little later... three more at hospitals. their names and conditions aren't being released. the incident has residents pushing for change... we want to make that clear, there's consequences to your actions. and at the end of the day, no one wins. you know that person goes to jail, that person's in the ground. all families involved - just shattered lives. anyone with information on the case is asked to call polk

county crime stoppers... at "5-1-5, 2-2-3, 14- hundred." des moines police say a teenager is in custody for another fatal shooting... this took place at the intersection of 13th street and jefferson avenue friday night. police say 17 year old josue socop shot 28 year old jose lopez... lopez died at the scene. socop is a north high school student... and is charged with first degree murder. no word on a motive behind the shooting. a man is behind bars for a deadly shooting in waukee... 42 year old brendan mcguinness is charged with first degree murder. police say he shot and killed 41 year old gino risola saturday morning. it happened in front of risola's home on southeast carefree lane... as he returned with his wife. mcguinness fled the scene before officers arrived... but was eventually arrested. the department of criminal

a des moines woman charged in her daughter's death will be sentenced today. tionne bloodsaw is facing child endangerment, neglect, and drug charges. bloodsaw was set to stand trial last month... but instead reached a deal with prosecutors. police say she and her boyfriend... deshaun trombone... left morphine within the reach of 5 year old jayda canada... who died at their home. deshaun trombone pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing death and several drug offenses. he was sentenced to 65 years in prison. there will be extra eyes on polk county roads this morning... officers will increase their presence in the western part of the county. it's for a traffic enforcement project... put on by several safety agencies. they will be looking for impaired drivers... while enforcing all traffic laws. officials say these projects aim to raise awareness... and save lives. ames residents can soon weigh in on the future of a major road... the city is holding a meeting to

13th street... from the "union pacific railroad"... to the "furman aquatic center." the project includes street improvements... and the addition of a sidewalk on its north side. it would take place sometime next year. officials will answer questions and hear opinions on the project at "bethesda lutheran church" tonight. it runs from 5-30 to 7-30. davenport leaders are planning for the city's west side... two years in advance... "kraft heinz" is set to open a new plant in 20-17... across town from its current one. the state is handing the company nearly five million dollars to complete the move. it will free up seven blocks... that have been occupied for nearly seven decades... many leaders say they're excited for the possibility of new development in the area... i would like to see some more retail come in. the west end is lacking quite a bit. it would be nice to have substantial stores in the area. this was always kind of the ugly way into town, and now we have an opportunity

a louisiana community is preparing to say goodbye to a young boy... killed by police. the funeral for six year old jeremy mardis will be held this afternoon in mississippi. he was shot to death in the front seat of his dad's vehicle in marksville last week. the officers were pursing his dad... chris few... when the chase stopped and they opened fire. few was taken to the hospital... and mardis died at the scene. we took some of the body camera footage and let me tell you something it was the most disturbing thing i've seen. police say no gun was found in few's vehicle... but details of what occurred before the shooting haven't been released. the officers... norris greenhouse junior and derrick stafford... are charged with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
