it's expected to crest at 27 feet tomorrow afternoon. that means moderate flooding in the area. it's the same situation at fleur drive... where the raccoon river sits at 16 feet. that's about 4 feet above flood stage. it will likely crest at more than 18 feet overnight tomorrow. flooding made its way into the homes of many central iowans... in luther... many of them are completely surrounded by water. the town is one of the few in the state without a sewer system... and the record rain revealed the problem with that. they have their own individual private septic systems and a lot of those are inundated and their not able to use the restroom in their houses. basements are full of water and they are having issues with furnaces.

dealing with that exact situation... several crews from ames are helping to pump out water... and get services in the town restored. ames residents are dealing with their own flooding problems... an apartment complex and mobile home park look like islands. they're both near 190th street.. which is closed because of water. there's no word of any serious damage in the area. authorities are looking for the driver who killed an iowa state university student... emmalee jacobs was found at the corner of lincoln way and ash avenue yesterday. jacobs was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. police say a vehicle hit her.... then took off.... sometime before 7 a-m. jacobs was a freshman.... and recently graduated from the center point-urbana school district. the news hit her hometown hard.. and hope that cameras were out there and that this was caught on camera and its just nothing that you could ever imagine. somebody needs to just step up and own up to what they did.

condolences and asked people to cooperate with the investigation. if you have any information.... call story county crime stoppers at the number on your screen. polk county deputies are trying to find a missing des moines teenager... police say 17 year old sam kemp went to a party saturday in granger. he hasn't been seen since. he's a black male... standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. he was last seen wearing a black nike sweatshirt... blue jeans... and blue shoes. anyone with information about his location should call the polk county sheriff's office. the man accused in a white powder scare at the state capitol is now admitting to it... 28 year old michael mcrae pleaded guilty in federal court. the charge was "conveying false information concerning a biological weapon." mcrae admitted to writing a letter with racial threats to

he was serving as abdul-samad's legislative clerk. police say mcrae opened the letter... spilling white powder on the house floor back in 20 - 12. that prompted an evacuation. mcrae spoke to channel 13 shortly after the incident... when i opened the mail, the letter, white powder just went in a lot of different directions mcrae faces up to 5 years in prison. he will be sentenced in march. the deadline to sign up for health insurance through "healthcare dot gov" is approaching. and local officials are fielding last- minute calls from those who need help with the process. that's the story at evelyn k. davis center... where we find channel 13's

it's official... hundreds of waukee students will head to a different school next year. the waukee school board unanimously approved its new school boundaries last night.... nearly 600 elementary students are impacted by the changes. the board says the move was necessary because of incredible growth within the district. families in need can get help with their holiday shopping tomorrow... that's when the salvation army's "toy shop" opens. each year the shop allows parents to pick out gifts for their kids. families are chosen through an application and interview process. the "toy shop" is made possible by the organization's "red kettle campaign."
