first on 13... des moines police are investigating the city's 21st homicide of 20-15... officers were called to 5201 south union street on a report of a shooting. that was around eleven last night. they found two people with gunshot wounds inside the apartment building... the man was pronounced dead at the scene... while the woman was taken to a hospital to be treated. police say they're interviewing witnesses... but haven't made

arrests yet. more information is expected to be released later this morning. des moines crews are hoping to tame some of the travel headaches... 7 o'clock, we'll go two shifts, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. - around the clock - until the streets are 100% back to normal winter driving conditions. salt brine was laid on each of the city's 17 snow routes yesterday. the material prevents snow from packing on the roads. and crews had plenty to work with... only 300 thousand dollars of the city's 3 point 2 million dollar budget has been used so far. it's a similar story in the suburbs... where officials say residents play a big part in the removal process. all streets in west des moines need to be clear with the snow

routes are already no parking but a lot of the residential streets can wait to the last second and get their driveways cleared out and vehicles in the driveway so that snowplows can come through. several more cities have issued snow ordinances... and parking instructions vary between each. the friendly skies aren't looking so friendly today either... as you can see... there is one cancellation at the "des moines international airport" so far.... officials are anticipating several more because of severe weather

and heavy rains brought massive flooding to missouri... causing at least 6 deaths. the iowa red cross assists victims of natural disasters... and now its asking for help in return. we help people when they are in their most time of need, when they are typically not expecting and we are also a donor driven organization so we need people to support the red cross so we can continue the work we do in our communities officials say iowans responded to 176 major disasters this year... the highest number in 3 years. and that statistic climbs dramatically within the state... more than 700 iowans impacted by fires, flooding, and tornadoes received red cross assistance. if you'd like to help the organization keep up its operations... visit

another person is behind bars for their role in a davenport house fire... police say 27 year old christopher knepp was manufacturing a drug... when the home at 500 south concord street caught fire last week. 4 kids were inside at the time... but managed to get out safely... while knepp was taken to the hospital. he faces arson charges. 24 year old megan ray is already facing drug and child endangerment charges in the case. newton police are asking for your help finding a missing girl... 12 year old charlene rachelle brown was reported missing christmas eve. as you can see.. she has brown eyes and hair.. and weighs about 135 pounds. she was last seen at her home and is believed to be with "non-custodial family." anyone with information is asked to call police at the number on your screen. the city of des moines wants to help you with your christmas

the last week of 2015 is going to go out with a blast. along and south of i-80, the winter storm warning from 3 am monday until midnight. north of i-80, the winter storm warning begins at 6 am monday until 6 am tuesday. snow is expected to lift into southern iowa early monday morning and should arrive to des moines and the i-80 corridor by 5 am. the snow will
