split and how much people won in iowa. house fire... firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in west des moines. the two problems that made it difficult for them to fight. the news at noon starts now. news at noon front door open joining us. i'm megan reuther. west des moines firefighters continue to put out a fire they say caused significant damage to a home. it happened around 10-30 this morning in the 6-hundred block of juliann road. authorities say the fire started on the second story of the home...but are unsure how the fire started. the home sits in the heavily wooded "brown's woods" park area. firefighters say not only was the home difficult to access but the area also does not have any fire hydrants. two people were home at the time of the fire. they were able to make it out

from the beginning of bush's campaign he has fought for people with disabilities as a major part of his pitch. he regularly tells the story of working with the republican legislature when he was governor of florida to secure millions of dollars for people with disabilities. chris christie also released a new campaign ad in iowa today called "strong and clear." "there's no one else who's running for president of the united states who's actually been responsible for prosecuting and investigating terrorists. he went on to say quote "hillary clinton will be nothing more than a third term barack obama." christie accuses clinton of being the designer of barack obama's failed foreign policy. as for democrats the top two presidential candidates are close in the polls for the number one spot. according to a new des moines

morning. it sustained winds of 85 miles per hour and is headed toward portugal. alex is the first hurricane to form in january in 78 years. the atlantic hurricane season officially begins june first. isis claims the attack that 19 others in one of the most populated muslim countries. it started inside a starbucks in jakarta, indonesia today where one of the attackers set off a suicide bomb inside the coffee shop. the blast shattered windows and hurt one of the customers. it all happened close to the presidential palace, the u-s embassy and the united nations. police say the attackers had guns....grenades....and suicide belts. all five of the attackers were found dead at the scene. a rally is scheduled tomorrow for a woman who was murdered. 68-year old shirley carter shot to death in her home in lacona last june. so far, authorities haven't made

on friday... friends and family will hold a justice for shirley rally outside the marion county courthouse... carter's husband isn't waiting for police to make an arrest.. bill carter says his youngest son is the killer and this week he filed a wrongful death lawsuit... one of iowa's largest career fairs returns to central iowa... the 2016 iowa career expo hosted by the "central iowa chapter of society for human resource management" took place a hy-vee hall this morning. people can interview for a range of positions, from entry level to professional. professionals will also be there, for resume critiquing and help with online applications. it goes until 2-30 p-m. admission is free. we didn't have a big winner in iowa, but three tickets in three different states hit the jackpot in last night's historic powerball drawing jennifer bjorklund has the story...

food trucks have become a popular place to get a meal in des moines. now, one non-profit has plans for a food truck with a purpose. as people look forward to the sizzle of the grill... a metro non-profit plans to offer a new place to grab food on the go. @13:58 "we are going to be launching a program, hopefully this spring/summer. it's going to be called food truck with a purpose." easter seals iowa helps people with disabilities live, learn, work and play in the community. the organization is looking for a truck and developing a menu. the goal is to provide job

it's one of the biggest days of the year in hollywood as oscar nominations were announced this morning. mark barger was there.. and has a look at those who made the cut. "the revenant's momentum from the golden globes on sunday continued this morning at the oscar nominations. it lead the way with 12 nominations overall, including best picture, best director, and best actor for leonardo dicaprio." for dicaprio it's his 5th career nomination, but he's still looking for his first win. his competition includes fellow globe winner matt damon for "the martian", michael fassbender for "steve jobs", emmy favorite bryan cranston for "trumbo" and last year's best actor eddie

geiger. a bill that would shut down a controversial water rule passed yesterday.. twelve democrats joined republicans to disapprove the e-p-a's waters of the u-s rule in a vote of two hundred 53 to one hundred 56.. from iowa.. only congressman dave loebsack voted against it.. the bill was originally drafted and passed the senate in a 53 to 44 vote in november.. however.. both vote totals are short of the two-thirds majority needed to override what will likely be a presidential veto. supporters of wotus argue getting rid of the rule would leave an unworkable one in its place.. weakening environmental protections.. opposition to the rule say it is an e-p-a power grab.. the iowa farm bureau says the expanded definition of the water rule would make 97 percent of iowa land under e-p-a jurisdiction. with the production report behind us, analysts are looking at some other underlying factors moving the grain markets.. the chinese ministry of commerce announced the investigation of u-s... d-d-g's with solubles exported to china this week.. the u-s gains council says it's disappointed in the announcement.. to start anti-dumping and countervailing duties.. its c-e-o thomas sleight says the allegations are unwarranted and unhelpful.. and could have a negative effect on u-s ethanol and d- d-g's. adding u-s trading practices are fair throughout the world.. however.. he says they stand ready to cooperate fully with the investigations. d-d-g's are concentrated.. ground up corn.. usually a co- product of ethanol plants.. they're use as a supplement of protein and energy in feed rations. the u-s-d-a announced a three to help producers transition into organic farming.. the money will support research, education,
