stepped in. monte morris was there for today's send off. the trucks should arrive in flint tomorrow. today, health officials are talking about the next steps in flint's ongoing health challenges. u-s secretary of health and human services sylvia burwell will visit a flint health center that is providing lead testing and health care services to those who have been affected by lead-contaminated water. flint's mayor has recently called for quick action to remove and

but, governor rick snyder announced a plan yesterday to coat the city's pipes with a protective film and conduct an infrastructure study first. despite having water tainted with lead, a new report shows people in flint were paying the highest water rates in the nation. the study by "the food and water watch" found flint residents paid, on average, close to 900 dollars a year for water service. that's nearly double the national average. one of the study's authors says the united nations recommends water and sewer service shouldn't be more than three percent of a household income. i n flint... those charges add up to about seven percent... here in iowa, college students will soon have to pay more. officials at all three iowa universities want to increase the cost for room and board. proposing a 3-percent increase. the plans will be discussed at next week's board of regents meeting at iowa state university. and

it has some students wondering if college is still worth it.. are you getting ahead... or is there financial incentive in going from high school to the work force. we'll show you the numbers in a special report tonight at ten. a man wanted for attempted murder was arrested at a walmart after fighting a police officer. fort dodge police arrested 36 year old jeremy werenburg at the walmart on first avenue last night. authorities had been looking for him since sunday after they say he hit a man with a car on purpose. jail where he faces additional charges for assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury and interference with official acts causing injury. authorities say the victim from the hit and run was taken to a des moines hospital with serious injuries. police arrested a parent who made a threat to school staff members. they arrested 46 year old ortan haywood who was wanted on a warrant out of texas. he has

threat incident and is currently in the davis county jail. a threat was made by the parent yesterday morning. that prompted the collins-maxwell high school and middle school to go on lockdown. the lockdown has been lifted but remains under investigation. hundreds of high school athletes and thousands of fans will make their way downtown the next few days for the state wrestling tournament. officials from the iowa high school athletic association expect 80-thousand fans will attend. so getting there maybe a little bit of a headache. there is no direct skywalk access to wells fargo because of the construction of the new hotel attached to the convention center. event organizers say if you're going there today or tomorrow plan ahead of time for traveling. high.. iowa has one point four million acres.. nationally.. there are 23 point five million acres.. and it all caps at 24 million. in recent years.. the f-s-a says contracts have stayed steady.. but acres have slowly declined.. this could be a year where net acres go up.. iowa could add another hundred thousand.. and depending on if you're a cash-rent farmer or a landowner it could be good or bad. "if you're a producer that's losing acres to crp, it's bad. that's just the way it is. if you're someone that's trying to address a resource concern, which a lot of producers are doing that for water quality. it's a good thing." the decision to put more land into c-r-p would also be an important business decision.. the iowa f-s-a uses the average crop rental rates from the u-s- d-a.. the latest are from 2013.. so higher than usual.. since crop prices have fallen.. it might make more sense to put land into conservation.. but there will be heavy competition..
