the timing, coming up. thema: flight for life is called in when a 25-year-old woman is severely burned after an accident at a backyard fire pit. according to the germantown fire chief, the woman and some friends were sitting around a fire pit at a home on kings way. someone threw gas on the fire, and it splashed onto the woman, and she caught on fire. two people tried to drive her to the hospital, but stopped at the mcdonald's on county line road to call 911 for help. this was around 1:00 in the morning. flight for life took the woman to the burn unit at st. joseph's -- at st. mary's hospital in milwaukee. we're told she has second and third degree burns over 40% of her body. a second woman and a man are also in the hospital with serious burns. happening now, a manhunt in washington state after police say a suspect killed four women inside a mall north of seattle. within the last two hours, the police have announced the man

investigators say around 7:00 last night, a man walked into the macy's store and started shooting. 4 women died last night. police were able to safely evacuate the mall in burlington, which is about 65-miles north of seattle, but were unable to catch the shooter. investigators have released this surveillance photo of the man they think carried out the attack. >> we are actively looking for the shooter. we caution people to stay indoors. stay secure if you see something, stay some -- if you see something, say something. stay in your houses until we can get this guy caught. thema: this morning, the fbi and the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives have stepped in to help local police. developing overnight, a fourth night of protests through charlotte's business district remained peaceful. groups are urging the police department to release body and dash camera video of the deadly officer involved shooting of keith lamont scott earlier in the week.

but many stayed on the streets beyond the midnight deadline. because the groups were peaceful, no arrests were made. there have been no reports of damage or looting. today, the hbo documentary "beware the slenderman" makes its midwest debut at the milwaukee film festival. the documentary is based on the real life case of the two, 12-year-old waukesha girls accused of stabbing their classmate to please the fictional character slender man. the movie director reportedly received exclusive access to the families involved for 18-months. both girls are still awaiting trial. their victim survived and continues to recover. the film screening is at 2:00 this afternoon at the oriental theatre. there is also a screening of the documentary "can you dig this?" which explores urban gardening in the food deserts of los angeles. a food desert is a neighborhood with limited access to stores with affordable fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat. areas on milwaukee's west side a

u.s. department of agriculture. the director, along with alderwoman milele coggs, will lead a panel discussion after the movie, which is at 10:30 this morning at the oriental theatre. the panel discussion starts at 12:30 at the milwaukee film festival lounge on prospect avenue. later today, the milwaukee police department is holding an open house for teenagers interested in joining the police aide program. it's open to 17 to 19-year-olds who are considering a future in law enforcement. you can get more details at an police academy near mill road and teutonia. the open house runs from 10:00 until 1:00. the waukesha county sheriff's department offers a similar program called the explorers program. it's for young adults 15 to 21-years-old. they get hands on experience of what it's like to be in law enforcement. >> it inspires me more.

until 4:00 at the milwaukee brewing company. today, the archbishop of milwaukee will help mark the 150th anniversary of st. stanislaus catholic church on milwaukee's south side. a benediction is at 5:30 tonight, followed by a celebration dinner at the church. anyone is invited to attend. the church is on fifth and mitchell. a church older than the city of milwaukee itself is celebrating a big anniversary this weekend. 175 years. to st. paul's lutheran to find out how the church stays relevant in a changing community. ? >> some people ask me if i have been here all my life. i say, not yet. adrienne: 88-year-old earl walter spent 50 years as choir director here at st. paul's lutheran church. now he's the unofficial historian, and what an

>> we say that before milwaukee was a city and wisconsin was a state st. paul was the , congregation. adrienne: this is a cornerstone from one of the earlier buildings. germans fled religious persecution and moved to wisconsin. that's when the church started on september 26, 1841. while several congregations moved out of the city, st paul's stayed with the motto "in the city for good." there's no better example of that than kim's clet free once or twice a month. >> we have of the same folks coming in and bringing in requests for their families, neighbors. i think it has opened the church to diversity in the neighborhood. adrienne: students with st. pauls and from amazing faith ministries are painting murals for the anniversary showing that diversity and celebrating it. >> the big thing is lutheran faith has remained the same. there have been a lot of

thema: welcome back. right now we're checking out some of the stories you're sharing online. new this morning, your kids can now build their own drone made out of legos. a company called flybrix just started selling a build-your-own drone kit. inside are lego bricks and special motors that don't require soldering. once assembled, the lightweight flybrix drones are meant to be flown indoors. they are so-called "crash-friendly," meaning they can be re-assembled as kids experiment with their designs and learn how to fly them. according to the flybrix site, a basic kit costs $149 and a

burned while trying to help the woman put out the fire. right now, a massive search is underway in washington state for this man, wanted for shooting deaths of five people at a mall about an hour outside of seattle. witnesses say he walked into a macy's store and opened fire at the makeup counter. police say 4 women were killed. one man died this morning after being taken to a nearby hospital. lockdown and eventually evacuated. state troopers are now searching for the suspected gunman, who was last seen heading toward a nearby interstate. they're warning residents that he is armed and dangerous. everyone is being asked to stay inside and avoid the area around the mall. police say a motive for the shooting is still unclear. we'll continue to follow this developing story throughout the morning. protests continue this weekend in charlotte, north carolina. for the 4th straight night, hundreds of people marched

the deadly officer-involved shooting of a black man from earlier this week. the city is under a state of emergency, and the mayor issued a curfew until further notice. yesterday, the family of keith lamont scott released video of the shooting, recorded by his wife, begging police not to shoot her husband. >> keith, get out the car. keith. keith. don't you do it. don't you do it. keith. >> drop the gun. >> keith. keith. keith. do [gunshots] >> did you shoot him? did you shoot him? thema: leading up to the shooting, she can be heard on the video saying he doesn't have a gun. she tells police he has a tbi, traumatic brain injury. police say he was armed, but the family, who has seen the police video, says it's not clear what was in his hand. police say the officer bodycam and dash cam shouldn't be released during the

in light of these police shootings, we wanted to know what the next generation of law enforcement thinks. only on wisn 12, adrienne pedersen spoke with teenagers in waukesha county already hoping to wear a badge someday. >> i get a lot that are like, why would you want to do that? friends at school and stuff, and other people who know that i want to be a police officer do ask a for this? 18-year-olds jazmine luther and taylor weiss get that question a lot. they're part of the waukesha county sheriff's explorers. the group is made up of young adults from 15 to 21-years-old. they get hands on experience of what it's like to be in law enforcement. >> in any profession, there are bad and good people in. adrienne: despite the unrest luther saw in milwaukee and what's happening now in charlotte, she still wants to be a patrol officer. >> police officers are human, too.

that's what's being brought into the light. that's what everyone is seeing is all of the mistakes. even if they're not mistakes, they just don't look good. adrienne: the explorers are selling "back the badge" signs as a fundraiser. the slogan is something they already take seriously. >> i know that even one more police officer on the road can make a difference and help the society become the best society it can be. thema: that was adrienne pederson reporting. the expl wisn 12 news numbers for the program are down, but she thinks that's because kids are in so many different activities, not because of the recent police shootings. later today, governor scott walker will get an up close look at some of the damage left behind by storms this past week. torrential rain led to landslides and flooding in the western part of the state. the governor has declared a state of emergency in 13 counties. the flooding is blamed for two deaths.

now, republican presidential nominee donald trump is coming to wisconsin. trump will appear at a campaign event at the waukesha county expo center on wednesday night. it will be his first visit to wisconsin since the middle of august. trump and hillary clinton will meet with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu tomorrow. netanyahu is in the u.s. after addressing the u.n. general assembly this week. the separate meetings will take place in new york city. right now, trump and clinton are getting ready for their first head-to-head debate on monday. they'll square off at hofstra university in new york. you can watch it live right here on wisn 12. abc news live coverage starts monday night at 8:00, after a new "dancing with the stars." also on monday, early in-person voting begins in milwaukee. residents can cast their ballots on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the zeidler municipal building next to city hall. two more locations will be added

later today, there is help available for people having a hard time paying their energy bills. the wisconsin home energy assistance program is opening two new locations in milwaukee county. the program will now be available at the miracle mile shopping center on south 27th street, as well as at 69th street, and brown deer road. you can learn more at a grand opening event today and apply early for the state program. also happening today, children's conducting a free car seat and booster safety check. it's from 9:00 this morning until noon at the station 1 waukesha fire department. you should allow 40-minutes per car seat. there will also be car seat that you can buy while you are there. you have a chance to take your kids on the bus for free later today. it's the first-ever milwaukee county transit system take your kid on the bus day.

degrees. thunderstorms return on sunday. i will go over the timing, coming up. thema: we continue following is out of germantown. light for life was called for a 25-year-old woman who was severely burned after an accident at a backyard fire pit. according to the germantown fire chief, the woman and some friends were sitting around a fire pit at a home on kings way. someone threw gas on the fire, and it splashed onto the woman, and she caught on fire. two people tried to drive her to the hospital, but stopped at the mcdonald's on county line road to call 911 for help. flight for life took the woman to the burn unit at st. joseph's -- st. mary's hospital in milwaukee. we're told she has second and third degree burns over 40% of her body. a second woman and a man are -- a second woman also has burns over 40% of her body and is in the hospital, so is a man that

washington state after police say a suspect killed four women inside a mall north of seattle. investigators say that a man that was in article condition died in the hospital. around 7:00 last night and man walked into the macy's department store and started shooting. for women died and the police were able to safely evacuate the mall in burlington, which is about 65-miles north of seattle, but were unable to catch the shooter. investigators have released this surveillance photo of the man they think car o >> we are actively looking for the shooter. again, we caution people to stay indoors, stay secure. if you see some think, say something. -- if you see something, say something. stay in your houses until we get this guy caught. thema: this morning, the fbi and the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives have stepped in to help local police. developing overnight, a fourth night of protests through

>> some people asked me if i have been here all my life, and i say, not yet. adrienne: 88-year-old earl walter spent 50 years as choir director here at st. paul's lutheran church. now he's the unofficial historian, and what an incredible history he shares. >> we say that before milwaukee was a city and wisconsin was a state, saint paul was the congregation. adrienne: this from one of the earlier buildings. germans fled religious persecution and moved to wisconsin. that's when the church started on september 26, 1841. while several congregations moved out of the city, st paul's stayed with the motto "in the city for good." there's no better example of that than kim's closet. neighbors pick out clothes for free once or twice a month. >> we have of the same folks -- we have some of the same folks coming in and bringing in requests for their families, neighbors. i think it has opened the church

we're told she has second and third degree burns over 40% of her body. two other people were also burned while trying to help the woman put out the fire. right now, a massive search is underway in washington state for this man, wanted for shooting and killing four people at a mall about an hour outside of seattle. witnesses say he walked into a macy's store and opened fire at the makeup counter. police say 4 women were killed. one man who was in critical condition died this morning. the mall was immediately put on lockdown and eventually evacuated. state troopers are now searching for the suspected gunman, who was last seen heading toward a nearby interstate. they're warning residents that he is armed and dangerous. everyone is being asked to stay inside and avoid the area around the mall. police say a motive for the shooting is still unclear. we'll continue to follow this developing story throughout the morning.

for the 4th straight night, hundreds of people marched through the streets protesting the deadly officer-involved shooting of a black man from earlier this week. the city is under a state of emergency, and the mayor issued a curfew until further notice. yesterday, the family of keith lamont scott released video of the shooting, recorded by his wife, begging police not to shoot her husband. >> keith, get out the car. keith. keith. don't you do it. don't yo keith. >> drop the gun. >> keith. keith. keith. don't you do it. and dash cam shouldn't be released during the investigation. in light of these police shootings, we wanted to know what the next generation of law enforcement thinks. only on wisn 12, adrienne pedersen spoke with teenagers in waukesha county already hoping to wear a badge someday. >> i get a lot that are like, why would you want to do that? >> friends at school and stuff, and other people who know that i want to be a police officer do ask that a lot. ad for this? 18-year-olds jazmine luther and taylor weiss get that question a lot. they're part of the waukesha county sheriff's explorers. the group is made up of young adults from 15 to 21-years-old. they get hands on experience of what it's like to be in law enforcement. >> in any profession, there are bad and good people in. adrienne: despite the unrest luther saw in milwaukee and
