age of 90. he was born in cuba. as a child was eeducated at private catholic schools and studied law. castro was an activist for the poor. but ruled cuba with an iron fist. >> i feel honored of being a communist. reporter: in 1960. castro joined forces with the union. the u.s. retaliated breaking off relationships with cuba. j.f.k. had 13 cuban exiles. castro was able to fend off for theivation. in 1962 american spy planes showed coatial missiles in cuba.

midwest. a big rain maker for us in southeastern wisconsin. here is the forecast now, 12:00 noon today, still cloud cover across the area. and also pockets of sunshine. expect a mix of sun and clouds. especially around midday and into the afternoon. for tonight, could have patchy fog develop with the milder air starting to flow across the colder ground here in southern wisconsin, the clouds will start to fill in beam sunday afternoon. you notice it is still dry across the entire badger state. that will change once we get past 6:00 p.m. watch for light rain or drizzle to develop. this 10:00 p.m. and steadier rain, moderate to downpours in the area driving through sunday night and monday morning. and maybe a break. hopefully timed out like this throughout the morning commute. still, i encourage you to set the umbrella out this weekend. needed sunday night through tuesday with on and off showers.

student: most of the support groups are for caregivers. >> it tips and the tricks. and it can make a huge difference. >> if you understand the disease. you can avoid the significant amount of the pain and heartache that comes with the disease. reporter: one of his toughest challengeses was moving elaine to a care facility. >> there was no way that help rate a 24/7 nursing care facility. so now elaine is in a setting with assisted living and -- she's more relaxed. she is more comfortable. i now can get a decent night's sleep. and spend more time with the grandkids and children. reporter: now, 77, he visits almost daily and homes he will get another dance with the alone he fell in love with when they were 14 years old.

and lacrosse and prairie declean and a lot of clouds in between. we break sunshine here in the southern part of the state, but closer to midday and then a little milder. look at that, this afternoon we warm to 47. and talk about 50's in the seven-day forecast coming up. andy: jeremy, thank you. breaking news from overnight. the former leader of cuba, fidel castro, has died. niko on his leadership. reporter: he was a ravlution air who was revered and renounced. >> i don't envision power. only to serve my country. reporter: fidel castro, known to most cubans as ( speaking foreign language ). >> the greatest legacy, i would safe, this figure that today, this small country that stood against the united states. reporter: cuban leader attended

morning. he tweeted simply, fidel castro is dead. and more breaking news overnight. milwaukee police are investigating a homicide on the city's north side, around 9:30 on north 16th street. and officers responded to a shot spotter call in the area and found a man who was shot. the victim died despite milwaukee fire department's lifesaving efforts. police tell wisn 12 news a suspect is in custody. depth this morning a father a in a crash in racine county. police have a suspected drunk driver in custody. the crash happened last night along 4-mile road and old farm road. police are saying a truck slammed into the back of a car making a left turn. inside of the car, a 39-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter died. a 6-year-old in the car survived and was taken to the hospital. investigators work to determine how fast the truck was traveling. the driver of the truck.

was arrested on two counts of homicide. and in hales corners a police sergeant was dash cam captures a crash near sphinxth after the driver refused the drop. and adrienne pedersen reports. adrienne: early wednesday morning a car speeds past hales corners police sergeant on west forest home. he starts to follow before turning on his lights. the driver exits, but refuses to stop. direction towards 76th street. moments later, the suspect runs a red light and slams into an s.u.v. taken out a sign, and a retaining wall. >> contact greenfield, vehicle just made contact with another vehicle on 76th and latent. contact -- the vehicle started on fire. adrienne: the suspect jumps out the passenger side. >> hey. stay down. stay down s safe down. get away from the vehicle.

flames. the sergeant chases the suspect, jumping over a wall. >> get on the ground right now. adrienne: greenfield officers then arrive to help and arrest the driver who started the chaos. sergeant helps two men hurt in the s.u.v. >> i'm going to try to get you out of here, all right. the vehicle is on fire. adrienne: the two men are going to be okay. police tell us the suspect in custody is a 20-year-old man from andy: that is adrienne pedersen reporting. more than two weeks after the presidential election, wisconsin is back in the political spotlight, the green party has officially filed for a recount here and is expected to do the same in two other states. the move comes after some election watchers saw what they call statistical anomalies in wisconsin's vote totals. with whit poll numbers -- exit poll numbers, voting machine.

that relies on computerized electronic equipment which is wide open to hacks. which has very primitive security inn many case as decades or more. and a staff that's not trained in security. so extremely vulnerable. and americans deserve to have confidence in our vote. andy: wisconsin elections officials tell wisn 12 news that hacking into voting machines would be close to impossible. and the other stays with narrow election night margins the deadline to in pennsylvania is monday. michigan's deadline is wednesday. by federal law, final vote

we are following breaking news this morning, former cuban leader fidel castro has died at the age of 90. ns prompted some celebration in parts of miami overnight. thousands of cubans flocked to south florida during castro's 49- year rule. plans for castro's funeral will be announced later today. new this morning, a u-s service member killed by an explosive in syria has been identified. senior chief petty officer scott dayton of virginia died thanksgiving day. it's the first american casualty since special forces were deployed there last year to fight

wildfires are burning across the country. firefighters say the fires are mostly under control. some people are returning home this morning after being forced to evacuate. police have detained at least 12-people. they say some fires were set deliberately. new information about the school bus crash that killed six children in chattanooga tennessee. in the weeks before the crash, several people complained about the bus driver. records released by the school district include written complaints by students. one saying the driver suddenly, to make students hit their heads. another wrote "we need seat belts" the driver is charged with vehicular homicide. andy/hps protests continue in north dakota over a controversial oil pipeline. more than 30 people were arrested yesterday outside a mall. at least one native american tribe leader is asking protesters to boycott stores in the state's capital. earlier this week, protests turned violent. now the army corps of engineers is ordering all protesters to leave the construction site

wisn 12 news time is black friday shoppers broke records yesterday... but not exactly in the stores. online sales surged past $1 point 9 billion dollars. department store macy's says all of the extra traffic actually crashed its website. the national retail federation says it expects total sales this holiday season to increase by 3.6 percent to $655.8 billion amazon is already unveiling some of its cyber monday deals. the online r out more than 75- thousand sales. the deals will continue throughout the week on a variety of products, including toys, electronics, video games and books. and, if you're looking for travel deals, you may want to log in on cyber monday. experts say slow summer travel sales should result in big airfare hotel cost cuts. some deals may even last through the first week of december. some very still retail workers are going viral this holiday season. check out this group of target

wisn 12 news time is a holiday weekend travel plans on sunday, kind of a carbon copy. but reversal, sunshine in the morning and then clouds return by the afternoon. the clouds ahead of a storm system. you want the umbrella ready, not the snow shovel this time on monday and tuesday.

moisture that will translate the rain showers. and the storm system is crashing into the west coast. and travel the path in the central plains. and the timing with they hour-by-hour forecast. 12 noon today, a couple of clouds lingering here. a mix of sun and clouds. and then for tonight, some of the areas patchy fog tries to develop across the area. clouds fulfill in by sunday rain sunday evening to the west. 10:00 p.m. showers across the area. the pocket of steady to heavy rain will sweep through the area. puddles for the morning commute on monday. and drizzles and sprinkles and light shower left over and on and off rain is possible on monday and tuesday. we add up the rain from sunday night through the first part of tuesday, that could lead to about a half-inch to an inch of rain here across south central

officials are saying the two sawed through steel bars and tied clothing together to repeople down from the second story on wednesday. both men are facing peelings life sentences if they are convicted of the charges they are being held on. canines are being used to track the men down. this morning a guard at the you pawn collectional institution is recovering after being attacked by an inmate. it happened thanksgiving lockdown. right now alzheimer's disease effects 5 million americans. it is hard, especially on the caregivers. this morning a one time governor of wisconsin is sharing his journey and tells thanksgiving cathy that being a caregiver is the toughest challenge he has ever faced. >> all that we could do it sit in the sun a little bit. would you like that. >> for the first 33 years of

and, and -- she's more relaxed. more comfortable. i now can get a decent night's sleep. and spend more time with the grandkids and children. reporter: now, 77, he visits almost daily and hopes he will get another dance with the elaine he fell in love with when they were 14 years old. i-94 westbound. traffic is not too heavy. but way more cars going west than east this morning. 36 degrees currently. as we look right now, live outside in racine there's been just a couple of peaks of sun from time-to-time. overall mainly cloudy skies. there also 36 degrees and a fairly light south to southwest breeze. we had a veil of clouds across the area. this is not showing it too w but one to two breaks from time-to-time. the main clearing is just beginning to reach madison and then bank of clouds behind that. work sun in, but overall, a mix of sun and clouds. that's in the forecast. this is statewide, partial sunshine. northern wisconsin or the upper michigan. the 30's to 40's. and then the farther south, mid

upper 4's. and then rockford, cedar rapids, lacrosse, the low 50's sooner. temperatures around 48 in madison and milwaukee. and low 50's to the south and way above-average in marquette and wausau the 30's to 40's there. and let's talk about the changes ahead. we have a rainy system that will arrive sunday night and sunday. for today a mix of sun and clouds. by 12 still clouds across up. watch what happens patchy fog develops after midnight and widespread across the area. milder air starts to flow over the cloud. and dry traveling anywhere across the state. probably won't need your sunglasses. and 3:00 a.m., this area of rain start to lift northeast. i think probably 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 p.m. drizzle and a rain shower here in southeastern wisconsin.

then this area of steady rape overnight. and a few showers on monday morning and then a surge of moisture on monday into tuesday with more rain. it will be just way too warm to get any snow with this system. and the warm front will push through the area. and the winds will kick up 15 to 20 miles per hour. if you looking to snow you have to go to the dakotas. and later in the seven-day forecast, we will cooldown enough to see a sprinkle or a flurry late in t monday and tuesday are pretty wet days across the area. the potential for a half-inch to maybe an inch of rain here across southeastern wisconsin. and then we gradually see temperatures cool. look that night time lows. the coldest we get in the next seven days here in the city is 32 degrees. and our average lows are falling fast to the 20's. we only the -- that one reel shot of cold air last weekend. and otherwise it has been a very warm fall. that warm fall kind of wins out
