that is just inching its way to the east. we have at least two or three more hours of cloud cover here in milwaukee. it is probably not until late morning and midday we start to brooklyn of sun. the clouds to benefit kept us warmer overnight. 36 degrees right now. clouds hanging around and a pretty thick layer of clouds this morning. midday partial sun. once we get the sun up the temperatures will jump quickly on a southwest breeze. a little bit above-average today with a high of 47. we will talk about sunday's forecast and a rainmaker coming up. andy: thank you. breaking news overnight. the former leader of cuba, fidel castro has died. we look back on his half century of leadership in the only communist government in the western hemisphere. reporter: this is the scene from miami, little havana, aa hours after the announcement of

age of 90. he was born in cuba. as a child was eeducated at private catholic schools and studied law. castro was an activist for the poor. but ruled cuba with an iron fist. >> i feel honored of being a communist. reporter: in 1960. castro joined forces with the union. the u.s. retaliated breaking off relationships with cuba. j.f.k. had 13 cuban exiles. castro was able to fend off for theivation. in 1962 american spy planes showed coatial missiles in cuba.

for a pledge that america would not attack cuba. this produced descent. in 1980, thousands of cubans braved to reach america. in the early 1990's the fall of the u.s.s. r cost cuba billions of dollars. >> we the fall of the soviet union. we are conflicts with the u.s. when the eyes of the world were once again focused on castro during a bitter fight during a cuba boy. in 2002, bush announced his initiative for a new cuba. saying he would maintain the

in 2006, castro handed over some of his powers to ra?l as he battled health problems. but there was never a return to power. president barack obama's historic visit there earlier this year. now the world will likely see even more changes with fidel castro gone. andy: you can read more about fidel castro's life and legacy on our website. www.wisn.com. more breaking news overnight. milwaukeeol a homicide on the city's north side around 9:30 on north 16th street. officers responding to a shots spotted call in the area and found a man who was shot. the victim died despite the lifesaving efforts. police tell wisn 12 news a suspect is in custody. developing this morning a father and his 9-year-old daughter killed in a crash in racine county. police have a suspected drunk driver in custody.

happened along four mile road and old farm road. a truck slammed into the back of a car making a left turn. in the car, a 39-year-old man and a 9-year-old daughter died. a 6-year-old child survived. the driver of the truck, a 26-year-old man from racine was indicted. in hails corner as police sergeant's dash cam captures a crash near 76th after the driver refused the stop. and adrienne pedersen reports. adrienne: early wednesday morning a car speeds back hails corner police sergeant on west forest home. he starts to follow and turns on his lights. the driver exits, but refuses to stop. leading the officer the wrong direction. and moments later thesome run as red light and slams into an

out a sign and a retaining wall. >> contact greenfield. the vehicle made contact with another vehicle on 76th and lateen. contact, the vehicle started on fire. adrienne: here had suspect jumps out the passenger side. >> hey, lay down. stay down. stay down. get away from the vehicle. adrienne: as the car goes up in flames. the sergeant chases the suspect, jumping over a wall. >>et greenfield officers arrive to help and arrest the driver who started the chaos. the sergeant helps two men hurt in the s.u.v. >> i'm going to try to get you out of here, all right. adrienne: amazing the two men are going to be ok. police tell us the suspect in custody is a 20-year-old man from milwaukee. andy: that is adrienne pedersen reporting. more than two weeks after the presidential election, wisconsin is back in the political spotlight. the green party is officially

and is expected to do the same in two other states. the move comes after election watcherscology what they call statistical anomalies in wisconsin vote poll numbers. the questions are focused on voting machines. >> we have an election system that relies on computerized electronic equipment which is wide open to hacks, which has very primitive security from many case as decade or more and a staff that's not trained in security. so extremely vulnerable. americans deserve to have confidence in the vote. andy: wisconsin election officialers tell wisn 12 news that hacking into voting machines would be closer to possible. and other states, the deadline to file for a recount in pennsylvania is monday. and michigan is wednesday. and by federal law final vote

be in by december 13th. despite the recount here, donald trump's transition process continues. he announced two other appointments yesterday. now we're waiting to see if david clarke will be part of this administration. clarke will meet with donald trump on monday in trump tower in new york. clarke was extremely vocal about supporting donald trump during a campaign. clarke has no comment on the meeting. for the fourth time badger football team is headed to the big 10 championship game. the iowa hawkeyes helped them out. they are taking on minnesota's golden golfers this afternoon at 2:30. and then next week, we are headed to indianapolis for the big 10 championship, look for live reports next saturday at

andy: we are following breaking news this morning. former cuban leader, fidel castro died at the age of 90. news castro's passing prompted celebrations in parts of miami overnight. thousands of cubans flocked to south florida during castro's 49 year rule. plans for his funeral will be announced later today. new this morning a u.s. service member killed by an explosive in syria has been identified. he died thanksgiving day. the first american causality since special forces were deployed there last year to

across the country. firefighters are saying the flames are mostly under control. some are returning home today. police detained 12 people after some people believe they were set deliberately. new information about the school bus crash that killed six children in chattanooga, tennessee. in the weeks leading up to the crash several people complained about the bus driver. written complains by the students. one saying stop the bus to make them hit their heads. the bus driver is charged with homicide. protesters continue in north dakota of a controversial pipeline, people arrested outside of a mall. one native american tribe leader is asking protesters to boycott stores in the capital. and the protests turned violent. now, they are ordered to leave

weekend. black friday shoppers broke reports yesterday, not exactly inside of the stores. on-line sales surged past $1.9 million. macy's is saying all of the extra traffic crashed the website. the national retail federation expect total sales this holiday season to increase 3.6%. amazon is already unveiling some of its cybermonday deals. the on-line retailer will roll the deals will continue throughout the week on a variety of products including toys, electronickics, video games and books. and looking for travel deals you might want to log-in this cyber monday. slow summer travel sales should result in big cuts for flights and hotels. some of the deals may last through the first week of december. now, some very still retail workers are going viral this holiday season. check out this group of target

they decided to do a black friday version of the man one challenge. an employee who shot the video put everyone in a good mood and made the hectic day go by faster. bmo harris bank is unveiling the holiday display at the watertown location. the 44th year for the project. the team for the 2016 is up north holiday. the display is free and open to the public. the opens monday and runs through the bank is donating one dollar for every visitor that stops pie. and today, the christmas parade in downtown grafton. adrienne pedersen and lindsey will be there wave to the crowds. this is the 37th year. and the salvation army bell ringing house is back in action today. you can see tinker and leave

per hour. just a light breeze down at cathedral square. pretty quiet scene down there early today with 36 degrees. now, let's talk about this afternoon. that's when we should have sunshine across the area. mixed in with a few clouds. if we get the sun out that will help to boost our mperatures we already have a southeast breeze in place that will pickup slightly this afternoon. going out maybe an extra layer. certainl feels chilly. this afternoon, mid to upper 40s. the clouds right now kind of hard to see but there is a batch from the northern part of the state through southeastern wisconsin, that will try to slide east throughout the morning. the next storm system is easy to pick out. crashing into the west coast right now. arrows are drawn in to show you the general direction.

midwest. a big rain maker for us in southeastern wisconsin. here is the forecast now, 12:00 noon today, still cloud cover across the area. and also pockets of sunshine. expect a mix of sun and clouds. especially around midday and into the afternoon. for tonight, could have patchy fog develop with the milder air starting to flow across the colder ground here in southern wisconsin, the clouds will start to fill in beam sunday afternoon. you notice it is still dry across the entire badger state. that will change once we get past 6:00 p.m. watch for light rain or drizzle to develop. this 10:00 p.m. and steadier rain, moderate to downpours in the area driving through sunday night and monday morning. and maybe a break. hopefully timed out like this throughout the morning commute. still, i encourage you to set the umbrella out this weekend. needed sunday night through tuesday with on and off showers.

and done midday on tuesday. a half-inch to an inch of rain across southeastern wisconsin, just too warm to get snow in here for the early part of the week. step up temperatures, again, sunshine likely by this afternoon. and pretty cloudy out there early today. 48 on sunday and clouds return to the area and jump up to the lower 50's for monday and tuesday. and then cooling trend that will send us back to near average for thursday and friday. couple of snow flakes in once we get into december, more active weather in the forecast. the question is, will it be rain here snow and our early system to end november will be rain. andy: too warm for snow at this late in new jersey, we'll take if. jeremy: just a trace in milwaukee. no measurable snow.

andy: good morning. welcome to wisn 12 news. i'm andy choi. 7:30 on this saturday, november 26th. we will head over to the weather center, with meteorologist jeremy nelson. just about halfway through the holiday weekend, jeremy. jeremy: yeah. probably the best half is still ahead of us with milder temperatures and finally a littleit that is more like midday or into the afternoon. outside of the weather window right now, what you see is what you get. cloudy skies out there and hanging around for the next several hours. mequon 36 degrees. and a breeze at five miles per hour. the plus side of clouds the keeps us warmer at night. that was the case. 32 to 36 across the area currently. 32 in new is sheboygan. and new berlin 34 degrees.

be announced later today. castro was 90 years old. his death is getting mixed reaction around the globe. overnight police block off streets as cuban-americans filled miami's little havana waving flags and celebrating. now, castro was critical of recently improved u.s.-cuba relationships. president barack obama was the first sitting president to visit the island nation in he reopened ties in 2014, ending 50 years of tension. and castro commenting on president barack obama's trip to the country earlier this year. saying in a letter to state media, we don't need the empire to give us presence. president barack obama did not meet with fidel castro during his three-day visit. for the first time in the state's history, a presidential recounts will be performed in wisconsin. green party candidate filled for the recount yesterday.

anomalies in wisconsin's vote totals and discrepancies with exit poll numbers. >> we're not doing this to the benefit of one candidate over the other. we're doing this for the benefit of the american public so that we can trust that our votes are counted. andy: jill stein's campaign is also been raising money on-line to cover the costs of recounted in michigan and pennsylvania. the deadline to filed for a recount in pennsylvania is monday. and michigan's deadline is wednesday. by federal law, final totals must be in by december 13th. the green party rails immediate nearly $5.6 million to pay for the recount effort. a fundraising goal of $7 million. and donald trump's transition team announced two new moments. campaign attorney has been named white house council. and "fox news" analyst as deputy national security advisor. neither position requires senate candidateformation.

sheriff david clarke will meet with donald trump on monday in new york. it is not clear if clarke will be offered a position in the donald trump administration. donald trump is meeting with a variety of candidates. clarke was outspoken about supporting donald trump during the campaign. this morning a man is dead after being shot on the city's north side. milwaukee police responded to a shots spotter call near 16th around 9:30 last night the injured man. lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. splice a suspect in custody this morning. also this morning. an investigation is underway after a father and his 9-year-old daughter were killed in a crash in racine county. near four mile road and old farm road last night. investigators are saying the 39-year-old had slowed down to make a left turn and the sedan was rear-ended by a pickup truck. the 25-year-old driver of that truck is suspected of driving

a 6-year-old child survived the crash and taken to the hospital. investigators are working to determine how fast the truck was traveling. >> contact greenfield vehicle just made contact with another vehicle. andy: incredible dash cam video of a police chase through two milwaukee suburbs. wednesday morning after a hales corner officer tried to make the vehicle took off toward oh, towards are green field speeding into traffic. the driver crashing into an s.u.v. at 76th. two men in the vehicle were not seriously hurt. police arrested a 20-year-old milwaukee man behind the wheel of the speeding car. a california mother is found safe after spending three weeks held in captivity. police are searching for the kid nappers. sherry was founds injured and tied up along a rural road.

inmate. on has night thanksgiving night. the prison offense on a lockdown. the guard is in the hospital. we don't know what led up to the attack. and alzheimer's disease effects 5 million americans. it is hard on the caregiver. this morning a governor of wisconsin is sharing his journey. and telling wisn 12 news that being a caregiver is the toughest challenge he has ever faced. >> well, what we can do is -- sit in the sun a little bit. if you like that. >> for the first 43 years of marriage, the high school sweethearts grew up together. college pictures and raising four children. living in the governor's mansion, and enjoy of grandkids. >> you have to let go of the first elaine. reporter: for 12 years, marty and elaine have faced a painful, exhausting plunge into the heartachers of alzheimer's disease.

flower day after day. and another day, marty might be her dad. she can not read to her grandkids. >> you have a lot of jobs in your life. you'll been a govern. you've run a company. you have been a caregiver. how do they compare? >> well, nothing compares with being a caregiver. reporter: in his new book, my two elaines, party hopes to encourage caregivers to stop thinking they can go it alone. they must gets a possible. something he resisted as first. >> my shents going downhill. having difficulty breathing. all kinds of issues. finally, because of elaine making the call. reporter: they turned to the alzheimer's association of southeastern wisconsin. >> alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the united states. out of the top tenkillerthers only one that can't be prevented or streeted or slowed.

student: most of the support groups are for caregivers. >> it tips and the tricks. and it can make a huge difference. >> if you understand the disease. you can avoid the significant amount of the pain and heartache that comes with the disease. reporter: one of his toughest challengeses was moving elaine to a care facility. >> there was no way that help rate a 24/7 nursing care facility. so now elaine is in a setting with assisted living and -- she's more relaxed. she is more comfortable. i now can get a decent night's sleep. and spend more time with the grandkids and children. reporter: now, 77, he visits almost daily and homes he will get another dance with the alone he fell in love with when they were 14 years old.

this is this afternoon, partial sunshine, and cooler run, wushaw, green bay, and milwaukee, and then 50's take hold. the average high is close to 74 degrees in milwaukee. and 10 degrees above that by sunday's forecast. and sunday a little bit different from morning to the afternoon. we may start the day with a little bit of sunshine and then clouds start to race in ahead of our next system. that will start to pull in moisture and not too far behind rain showers. and t' when rain enters the picture. saturday afternoon, mix of sun and clouds here in southern wisconsin. for tonight, areas of fog fill in across the region. southwest winds with the moisture and the milder air flows over the colder ground and give us patchy fog. be aware traveling late tonight and tomorrow morning. sunday afternoon, though, light gray represents clouds.

watch this down around des moines, waterloo and cedar rapids. lighter rain and then steadier band of showers will slide east. this is producing a half-inch to an inch of rain on sunday night through tuesday in southern wisconsin. the area of low pressure stays to the west. that keeps the flow out of the south. way too warm to think about snow and this system. you have to back to the dakotas or northern minnesota. no snow in southedern wisconsin. but a system on sunday night. and then on and off showers on monday and tuesday. and cooler, 40 degrees for thursday and friday. and snowflakes in the forecast. no big snows in the next seven days. and a rainmaker for monday and tuesday. and welcome andy choi to the wisn 12 news team. andy: good to be here.

morning. he tweeted simply, fidel castro is dead. and more breaking news overnight. milwaukee police are investigating a homicide on the city's north side, around 9:30 on north 16th street. and officers responded to a shot spotter call in the area and found a man who was shot. the victim died despite milwaukee fire department's lifesaving efforts. police tell wisn 12 news a suspect is in custody. depth this morning a father a in a crash in racine county. police have a suspected drunk driver in custody. the crash happened last night along 4-mile road and old farm road. police are saying a truck slammed into the back of a car making a left turn. inside of the car, a 39-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter died. a 6-year-old in the car survived and was taken to the hospital. investigators work to determine how fast the truck was traveling. the driver of the truck.

was arrested on two counts of homicide. and in hales corners a police sergeant was dash cam captures a crash near sphinxth after the driver refused the drop. and adrienne pedersen reports. adrienne: early wednesday morning a car speeds past hales corners police sergeant on west forest home. he starts to follow before turning on his lights. the driver exits, but refuses to stop. direction towards 76th street. moments later, the suspect runs a red light and slams into an s.u.v. taken out a sign, and a retaining wall. >> contact greenfield, vehicle just made contact with another vehicle on 76th and latent. contact -- the vehicle started on fire. adrienne: the suspect jumps out the passenger side. >> hey. stay down. stay down s safe down. get away from the vehicle.

wildfires are burning across the country. firefighters say the fires are mostly under control. some people are returning home this morning after being forced to evacuate. police have detained at least 12-people. they say some fires were set deliberately. new information about the school bus crash that killed six children in chattanooga tennessee. in the weeks before the crash, several people complained about the bus driver. records released by the school district include written complaints by students. one saying the driver suddenly, to make students hit their heads. another wrote "we need seat belts" the driver is charged with vehicular homicide. andy/hps protests continue in north dakota over a controversial oil pipeline. more than 30 people were arrested yesterday outside a mall. at least one native american tribe leader is asking protesters to boycott stores in the state's capital. earlier this week, protests turned violent. now the army corps of engineers is ordering all protesters to leave the construction site

then this area of steady rape overnight. and a few showers on monday morning and then a surge of moisture on monday into tuesday with more rain. it will be just way too warm to get any snow with this system. and the warm front will push through the area. and the winds will kick up 15 to 20 miles per hour. if you looking to snow you have to go to the dakotas. and later in the seven-day forecast, we will cooldown enough to see a sprinkle or a flurry late in t monday and tuesday are pretty wet days across the area. the potential for a half-inch to maybe an inch of rain here across southeastern wisconsin. and then we gradually see temperatures cool. look that night time lows. the coldest we get in the next seven days here in the city is 32 degrees. and our average lows are falling fast to the 20's. we only the -- that one reel shot of cold air last weekend. and otherwise it has been a very warm fall. that warm fall kind of wins out
