been charged with the fatal shooting of terence crutcher -- killed one week ago. shelby has been booked and released from jail....after prosecutors charged her with first-degree manslaughter. shelby shot and killed terence crutcher after his s-u-v broke down. court documents say officer shelby "reacted unreasonably" when she shot crutcher, who wasn't listening to police commands and was walking away from her with his hands held up. if she is convicted of first-degree manslaughter, shelby could face between four years to life in

state of emergency remains in effect. a midnight curfew was supposed to go into effect last night...but police said they'd allow protesters to stay out as long as they wanted as long as they remained peaceful. the protests come after an officer shot and killed 43-year-old keith lamont scott protesters are calling for the release of police dash cam footage of the incident. the family viewed the video -- their attorney says it shows scott getting out of his car peacefully. but charlotte's police chief says they will not release the video...since it doesn't clearly show scott had a gun. and in wauwatosa -- it officer- involved shooting. the family of jay anderson wants to know why police have released such little information. all that's been made public to this point is that at 3 a-m on june 23rd, anderson was seated in his car at madison park. police say he was in possession of a gun and something happened to make an officer fear for his safety. today, the anderson family says it wants the officer's name to be made public, considering the officer's names have been released in recent shootings in tulsa and charlotte. they also want the body camera video

don't want to release evidence in "bits and pieces," adding all the evidence will eventually be released - but at once. milwaukee police are investigating a double shooting a 53 year old man is dead...a 23 year old was also shot. deandra corinthios is live from mpd's district five with the latest by our count at fox6...this marks milwaukee's 99th homicide of the year. there were 145 last year...and 86 in 2014. right now, police are searching for a the shooting took place on thursday just before 6 pm in milwaukee's harambe neighborhood. police were called to palmer and chambers. witnesses describe hearing two bursts of gunfire. police say a 53 year old man was shot and taken to a local hospital where he died. police say the second victim is a 23 year old man...who suffered a non life threatening gunshot wound...was also taken to the hospital. two grandparents tells us they are thankful none of the bullets hit the kids who were

the coming days. two people are dead, after a car crashes into a department of public works truck. the crash happened near 76th and sheridan around 9-30 yesterday morning. milwaukee police say the dpw truck was pulling a wood chipper-- when it was hit by the car the 20-year-old woman riding in that car died on the scene. the driver later died at the hospital. the two people in the d-p-w truck were not injured. two families are suffering losses this morning.. the river hills village president has died. and her story spread across the nation...but jerika bolen has sadly angelica is in the newsroom with details. jerika bolen had been battling spinal muscular atrophy. bolens final wish was for a prom... and in late july her friends and family members granted that wish. bolen made the decision to remove her ventilator and enter hospice at the end of summer. when a grafton man, jordan schroeter, heard about bolens decision, he recorded a facebook video encouraging her to live. schroeter also has s-m-a and says he couldnt understand why everyone seemed

happening on the streets of charlotte, one man tried to calm tensions... with hugs. the "free hugs project" two years ago after the boston bombings. he has gone across the country with a message of peace. and in charlotte -- that included embracing police in full riot gear, right in the middle of violent protests. some protesters though taunted him for it. he explained that the police need our compassion too. "i'm just reminding people that love and peaceful protests and things that that's going to be the way that we get past some of these things and be able to sit down and have real discussions as human beings."

shelby was booked at the local county jail early this morning and released shortly after on a 50-thousand-dollar bond. she's the officer who shot and killed motorist terence crutcher. police video shows crutcher with his arms high in the air walking slowly to his s-u-v when he was killed. the officer is facing felony manslaughter charges. sara sidner reports nats "i got a feeling that's about to happen."less than a week after the killing of terence crutcher, the district attorney deciding to

burts of gunfire. a 53 year old man is dead. and a 23 year old was also shot. the shooting happened just before 6 pm near palmer and chambers. police tell us the 53 year old man died at the hospital. the 23 year old was also taken to the hospital...they say his injury is not life threatening. the relationship between both men is unclear. police are not sure if the 23 year old was one of the shooters. a press release lists him as a victim not a suspect. with the investigation undew feel differently about their block. "we usually stay out here until 12 o'clock at night and nobody would bother us or anything but now i wouldnt stay out here past dark the neighborhood is changing for some reason" our records at fox6 indicate this was milwaukee's 99th homicide of 2016. there were 145 people killed in the city in all of 2015...what was considered a very violent year.

corinthios fox6 news. looking across america. in chicago -- mayor emanuel unveils a new plan to tackle gun violence. meanwhile -- police in tennessee are investigating a deadly workplace shooting. angelica is in the newsroom with details. three people were killed -- including the gunman... it happened at an industrial plant. police say the gunman was an employee, who was armed with a semi- automatic pistol.. he entered the "thomas and betts" plant yesterday afternoon and allegedly shot and killed two before turning the gun on himself. police are still trying to determine a motive. in chicago - the city's mayor unveils a new plan to tackle gun violence. more than 3-thousand people have been shot already this year... that's more than all of last year. rahm emanuel says the city will focus on new efforts to mentor youths in violent neighborhoods...and also work on new legislation and police reforms. the three-year mentoring effort will help over 7-thousand young people in chicago and will be paid for with 36-million-dollars in

in new york -- fbi agents are still waiting to speak to ahman rahami -- the man suspected of planting bombs in new york and new jersey. rahami remains unconscious following a police shootout. meanwhile -- rahami's wife arrived in the u-s... yesterday on a flight from the united arab emirates. she left for pakistan in june. sources say she is cooperating with authorities and is not considered a suspect. investigators are now focusing on rahami's family and whether any of them knew of the alleged terrorist's governor scott walker has issued a state of emergency in 13 western counties after damaging floods. a mudslide pushed a man's home onto a state highway yesterday in victory -- which is south of lacrosse. the man's body was found not far from his home. up to ten inches of rain have fallen in parts of western wisconsin... the state of emergency will allow local governments to get help paying for the cleanup and damages. the national guard has also been deployed. meanwhile - some schools in
