unclear what led up to the shooting...and the victim is in "very critical condition." police continue to search for a suspect. and officials investigating an overnight crash involving a semi. this happened on 894 eastbound just before midnight. we're working to get more information but from the video you can see a car ended up under a quad graphics semi. two lanes were closed on the system ramp to 94 eastbound.... but they have since reopened. two teen girls seriously injured after they were attacked by pit afternoon. this happened near 48th and dean. authorities say the dogs lived in the same home as one of the victims. brown deer police shot both dogs...and one died on the scene. the other dog was taken by madacc. the owner requested it be euthanized. the girls were treated at the scene...and later taken to nearby hospitals. drivers who live in milwaukee county could be paying an extra 60 dollars a year for their cars. county executive chris abele is proposing a new wheel tax

the milwaukee county courthouse with more. the wheel tax is part of chris abele's 2017 budget proposal...which will be made public today. he says it is necessary...to maintain public transportation. abele is proposing a 60 dollar per year registration fee... which works out to an extra five dollars a month. he says it's the only option available to the county -- as state funding has dropp cannot legally raise sales taxes. he says without it-- there will be cuts to services. the new registration fees are expected to bring in about 27 million dollars a year for the county...funding all the countys transportation infrastructure costs, annual bus replacements, county highway and bridge repairs. it will also help preserve the 'go pass' program, allowing seniors and the disabled to ride the bus for free - or at a significantly reduced cost. but the proposal is getting some resistance from the county

two white women in their late teens to early twenties. both have thin builds. an older buick lesabre with a tan vinyl roof is believed to be involved. if you recognized the suspects - police asking you to give them a call. guilty on all charges. it only took the jury three hours to come to that conclusion in the carl barrett jr. trial. he's the man now convicted in the death of 5-year-old laylah petersen. her family has been waiting two years for this day. it feels lifted. but at the same time it is still very heavy in your heart. two other men, arlis gordon and paul farr have already pleaded guilty to their charges. investigators say the three were looking to kill a man acquitted for killing gordon's brother. gordon and barrett fired their hand guns--- into the wrong house...killing laylah petersen. barrett will be sentenced in december along with gordon. paul farr will be sentenced next month. a sad update this morning...a toddler is dead after a bunk

a commuter train crashed into one of the new york city area's busiest train stations. authorities say it appears the train was going too fast when it crashed...but it is still unclear why. this all happened yesterday during the morning commute. the impact caused part of the roof to collapse. the woman killed was standing on the hoboken terminal platform..and was struck by debris. the national transportation safety board says the engineer has been released from the hospital...and is cooperating with investigators. ahead on wakeup - we'll hear from the passengers aboard the train when police arrest two men overnight - protesting the shooting of a man by an officer in el cajon, california. officials say between 50 and 75 protesters were in the streets blocking traffic last night until police used pepper-spray balls to break up the crowds. this was the third night of protests...after an officer shot and killed alfred olango tuesday...after he pulled out an e-cig and pointed it an officer. authorities have released a still image of the incident...but olango's family

her visit comes a day after the wife of clinton's running mate - tim kaine - stopped in milwaukee. anne holton is the former education secretary in virginia. she kept her message positive -- focused on her husband and clinton. meanwhile -- the democratic presidential nominee herself will be in florida today. she'll be making two stops - one in fort pierce....and the other in coral springs. clinton expected to talk about the economy. as for the republican presidential nominee - donald trump will be in michigan today. this will be his fifth campaign stop to the great lakes state sie he is holding a rally at the suburban collection showplace in novi -- according to his campaign schedule. a hurricane is developing in the caribbean....and has already strengthened to a category two storm. hurricane matthew has maximum sustained winds of more than 100 miles per hour. the u-s national hurricane center says the storm is expected to become a major hurricane later today. right now the storm is about 100 miles north of curacao and moving west.

flynn took questions from a panel of reporters thursday during a downtown luncheon. while discussing violence in the city - just one month after the city's deadliest month in 25 years - flynn continues his push for tougher mandatory gun sentences. specifically, flynn says those with a lengthy record of misdemeanor convictions are not sentenced harshly enough when they're caught illegally carrying a gun... if most of the homicides here are committed by armed criminals, it would seem to me to make sense that that subset of crime - being caught with an illegal gun with a criminal record - should result in a sanction. flynn also said m-p-d will not release body camera video of the sylville smith shooting before the district attorney's review is complete. members of milwaukee's common council are fed up. they say prostitution has become rampant in parts of the city - and they're pleading with city officials to do

former israeli president shimon peres. the funeral ceremony held for peres in jerusalem this morning. a military guard escorted his casket into the ceremony held at israel's national cemetery. some 6-thousand people attended -- including president obama...and former president bill clinton. and tulsa police officer betty shelby is expected in court today for her arraignment on first-degree manslaughter charges. shelby is the officer 40-year-old terence crutcher, an unarmed black man, two weeks ago. dashcam and aerial footage of the shooting showed crutcher walking away from officer shelby with his arms in the air. her attorney says shelby opened fire when the man began to reach into his s- u-v window. police have said crutcher did not have gun on him or in his vehicle. the c-e-o of wells fargo -- back in the hotseat for employees opening bank accounts without customer approval. the company facing millions of dollars in fines. angelica joins us now with the

apologizing again -- this time to house lawmakers -- after his grilling in the senate last week. stumpf is forgoing 41 million dollars in stock bonuses -- giving up his salary during an internal investigation by his board of directors -- and won't get a bonus year. also -- the board rescinded 19 million dollars in stock bonuses for carrie tolstedt -- the bank's former head of community banking who retired under pressure. stumpf says he is "deeply sorry" and "fully accountable" for all unethical sales practices.
