meanwhile soon to be former congressman reid ribble says speaker ryan's decision to shift focus to races in the house isn't unusual from speakers in the past. ribble says ryan's words during a conference call with republicans were taken out of context. "what paul said was i am not going to defend the indefensible that is a direct quote from that conference call. he didn't say he would never defend donald trump on policy." congressman ribble was one of the first republicans to publicly say he would not be the differences between ryan and trump shows a clash of ideology. night -- here on fox 6. a west allis man accused of killing an illinois woman in an interstate shooting pleads not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. prosecutors say zachary hays - first killed gabriel sanchez in west allis back in may.... then later that day -- began shooting at an illinois family's car on i-90-94 in sauk county -- killing 44-year-old tracy chech-cow-ski czaczkowski . ha homicide and a count of recklessly endangering safety in milwaukee county for the death of sanchez. a milwaukee firefighter is hurt and more than a dozen people are displaced after a house fire. one woman says she ran into the burning home to help rescue her neighbors... fox6's deandra corinthios has the story. "i heard 'fire' and nothing else mattered" flames at the house across the street and cries for help...sent megan ortmayer into action...late monday night. putting herself in

"as soon as i entered things were falling all i knew is there was a lady that was disabled in a wheelchair that was on the back floor and people were struggling to get her out and i had to help her get out" when first responders arrived there were reports of people trapped. but everyone had already gotten to safety. a firefighter was hurt using a high powered saw. he was taken to froedtert hospital and later released...but will be off duty for some time. the fire spread to the house next door... in total 19 people from four different families are displaced.. anything else, lives are not replaceable materialistic stuff is" when called a hero...ortmayer says... "i would not name myself that i just try to help when i can" having just moved to the neighborhood ortmayer says she didn't know the people she risked her life for. but that didn't matter. fire officials estimate the damage -- to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. police are investigating a shooting near 14th and dakota... officials tell us is happened last night after two cars nearly crashed at that intersection -- and the drivers became involved in a confrontation. one of the drivers shot at the other. the 33-year-old man was taken to a hospital with non- life threatening injuries. police are now searching for that other driver. a 36-year-old stoughton man says confronting a 21-year-old man sunday night -- for damaging his inflatable vikings yard decoration.. it happened sunday night. police say the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. the suspect was arrested for first degree reckless endangerment and criminal damage to property. rude awakening. that's what dozens of people in bay view woke up to... when they found their vehicles had been vandalized. fox6's myra sanchick is live in bay view

where, for some, the beautiful day was marred by vandalism. smashed car windows are not common and not welcome in bay view. mike franken got the news his car was one that was hit. my wife did. i was still in my jammies drinking coffee down h shared photos of their damage, and waited for glass repair companies. we found one car not far away that had three of its windows targeted.police say at least forty vehicles had damage. nothing taken. nothing in it...they opened up the counsel a little but there was nothing in the car to take so they're looking for something. in recent months some residents say there have been items

game. gimme the keys! n i give em the keys. gimme your money! so, i give em the money. according to milwaukee police, brown is the victim of an armed robbery, after the suspects flee with an undisclosed amount of money. but, this get-a-way is not very fast, took their time, goin down the street. they was so slow. and, it doesnt get them very far. called 9-1-1, and they caught em, two blocks away. milwaukee police say they have five suspects in custody, in connection with one 15- years-old, the other just 13--a full, 72 years younger than his alleged victim. they dont care, now. you know, some of em dont ... you know, the way they was brought-up, i suppose. brown says, before the group saunters off, a 17-year-old female suspect tells one of the others to return browns keys, and that suspect complies.

the money, he says, is gone. most importantly, brown says he is uninjured. the case is expected to make its way to the d-as office, within days. for now, this is the latest, on milwaukees northwest side. im justin williams, fox 6 news. ted thanks justin it's time for your news and weather together. dane county officials are investigating after a body is recovered from lake monona early this morning. authorities responded to the call around two... last friday -- a bt reported missing after his boat was found unoccupied and undamaged. however -- officials could not confirm it was his body that was found. germantown police are investigating a crash between a semi and a pick up truck this morning. crews responded to the scene at goldendale and holy hill road. officials say the driver of the pick up truck was ejected from his truck during the crash. he was flown to the hospital via flight for life. however-- he's expected to be okay.
