we're following breaking news out of iowa this morning. two officers are killed on the job -- officials are calling it an ambush-style attack. kim has the latest in the newsroom. it started around one this morning -- with a shots fired call. des moines police say an officer responding to the call found an suffering from a gunshot wound. then 20 minutes later, about two miles away -- a des moines officer was found shot. both officers were sitting in their patrol cars when they were shot -- they both died. officers are now being doubled up on patrols. "there is clearly a danger if you're a police officer. these guys were gunned down sitting in their car doing nothing wrong. so there's definitely some danger out there. there's somebody out there shooting police officers. we hope we find them before somebody else gets hurt."

police say a stop for cigarettes helped lead to an arrest. it all began at the north shore bank at 60th and forest home. police say a suspect implied he had a weapon and robbed the bank. he then took off in a white van. investigators say the man led them through milwaukee, waukesha and washington counties. the suspect made a stop to buy cigarettes at a hartford gas station. he tried running from police, but was eventually arrested. guy comes in here all frantically, skips our line and tellsm cigarettes... after i give him his change back, he looks out the window and about 8 squad cars are here. angelica police say the suspect stole the van from his employer on monday. we are told at least two vehicles were hit by the suspect. no one was seriously injured. coming up - new developments in the clinton email
