need a photo i-d to cast your ballot. good evening. we've got crews covering all the big races today.... from the race to the white house -- down to the local level. we begin at the polls though -- where turnout is gearing back up.. and it's expected to be very high. we'll check in with justin williams who is monitoring voter turn-out in waukesha county. but we begin with derica williams -- who is in milwaukee checking out various polling spots,.. in a major way. shortly after dawn...lines were forming here outside the zeidler building... and at all of the at the 195 voting locations across milwaukee. voters i spoke with were eager and excited to say the least. waiting to hear the election results... its anxious. im like uhhhh its pretty nerve-wracking it was a mix of emotions tuesday im feeling wonderful im pretty excited it went very smoothly

people headed to the polls. its a liberating feeling knowing my voice will be heard in this election and future ones to come during peak times, voters may have waited in line about 20 minutes before casting a ballot. we're told there has been a steady stream at the 195 voting locations across milwaukee. something this big to be a part of that is pretty cool, i'm encouraging all my friends to vote too beyond encouag fatigue has hit. i think everyone would say we are happy to get this election over with its been pretty contentious wisconsin has one of the highest voter turnout rates in the country. were on target to see 87% of registered voters turn out. that equates to about 70% of the city's eligible voters come out and vote before 8 so we can vote and be heard come on now come out polls will close at 8 tonight

location you will still be able to cast a ballot. we are in the midst of the peak voting time which is 5-7. so make sure you are patient and prepared when you go to vote. steph thanks derica in dane county -- near madison-- one polling location will actually be open until 9 o'clock tonight. that's due to a court order -- after the polling place was closed for a brief time today because the off. now to waukesha county... ?which is typically considered a republican stronghold... and often sees high voter turn-out. fox six's justin williams continues our team coverage from menomonee falls. less than an hour ago, we were watching the beginning of the evening rush of voters, here, at the menomonee falls public library. now, were witnessing a significant surge of people, voting at this polling place. it makes a difference. its your livelihood, and the next four

deal with, if you dont get out there, n put your vote, n make it count. theyre making it count, throughout waukesha county, tuesday. at st. charles community church, in hartland, where a poll official tells me 174 people were waiting in-line, when the polls opened, at seven a-m., ready to add to the 2,269 absentee ballots which, also, need to be counted. what youre looking at, im told, is a slow stretch, despite the presence of dozens of voters. folks, here, tell me, alog are motivated to vote on a referendum which involves the construction of a new pool and new auditorium at arrowhead high school. its very important. i mean, were a good, small community. we love each other, the kids that go to school, here, n, you know, we just gotta take care of our business, n state our voice. in waukesha, this frame park polling place has its voting booths busy, with what a pollster tells me is a fairly steady stream of voters, throughout much of the day. if you have not yet voted, the waukesha county clerk says, voters may want to wait, to avoid the evening rush. the polls are open, until eight, and were gonna have, we always have long lines, first thing, in the morning, lunchtime, and

depending on someones schedule, they may wanna consider goin a little bit later. solid advice. meanwhile, a short time ago, i spoke with a woman who voted, here, and she tells me, despite a packed polling place, and a long line, it only took her a few minutes to cast her ballot. novack reminds voters, as long as they are in-line, when the polls will get to vote. this is the latest, in waukesha county. im justin williams, fox 6 news. brad thanks justin in the race for the white house.

press -- donald trump has won kentucky and indiana meanwhile -- democrat hillary clinton has won vermont. two big watch parties are going on in wisconsin for the candidates -- and we're at both of them. myra sanchick is in oshkosh -- but let's start with theo keith in middleton. democrats thought hillary clinton and russ feingold came in to tonight with a because of record-breaking early voting. tonight, they are watching strong turnout in madison -- 51 percent of registered voters had turned out by 5 p.m. -- and that's before anyone heads to the polls after work. and because of that, democrats are projecting calm here in

to win the state. u.s. sen. tammy baldwin says: "they did a terrific job in terms of the early vote. we had a record early vote. but they know today is the day where the deal is closed " according to a u-w madison political scientist, clinton is the first major party candidate not to campaign in wisconsin in 44 years. although her running mate and a r through -- clinton focused her time in other swing states where her lead over donald trump is smaller than it is here in wisconsin, at 6 or 7 points in polls. live, theo keith, fox6 news. steph thanks theo donald trump -- telling people at his voting site today that he's not nervous -- and he's got a great feeling about the results. some early voting numbers are expected to start coming in soon. for more on trump's campaign --

sanchick-- who's live in oshkosh. donald trump supporters in wisconsin plan to join the ron johnson victory party in oshkosh. and they expect a long night. republican candidate donald trump voted earlier today in manhattan at a public school. he waved to booed and cheered. mr. trump told fox news he thinks most polls are phony and predicts a victory tonight. if he'll accept the results is still a question. trump says his campaign is checking out reports of voter fraud. "well, i'm gonna have to see under what circumstances. honestly, i want everything to be really, really smooth and really, really good. i understand the importance of that. i was very good in history. and,

different ways." the wisconsin campaign says worker spent the day on the phones urging supporters to get out and vote. live in oshkosh, myra sanchick fox 6 news. the latest marquette poll shows a tighter race for the u.s. senate here in wisconsin. incumbent republican ron johnson is trailing democratic challenger russ feingold by just one point.. both candidates have had a flurry of campaign stops this many political experts say the balance of power in the u-s senate could come down to this race... ashley sears is in oshkosh following johnson's campaign... but let's begin with bret lemoine in middleton. a number of issues have separated russ feingold from his republican opponent throughout this election... one of the biggest, though, is the affordable care act. feingold defended his support of 'obama care,' saying if johnson

20-million people would lose their health insurance coverage. the democrat says there has been lots of progress... and more to come with 'obama care.' feingold, who worked across the aisle with republican senator john mccain on campaign finance reform, says voters deserve a senator who will stand by them - not billionaires and special interests. a little over a week ago, feingolds campaign said it would return 45- thousand dollars in donations from a massachusetts law firm that paid bonuses to employees who made campaign contributions. feingolds election reporting live in middleton, bl, fox6 news. tonight -- johnson is defending the seat he took from feingold back in 2010. ashley sears is live in oshkosh with more from his election night event. this has turned out to be a very tight race. senator ron johnson and democratic challenger russ feingold are neck and neck. rc: he feels confident. we caught up with senator

connection to the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a little girl. milwake night-- they recovered the vehicle that was involved in the crash. it was found on the city's north side. we're told one person has been arrested and police are still looking for the known driver. 5-year-old rickyia langham. was killed while crossing the street with her mother. this happened on sunday near leon terrace and constance avenue. milwaukee police say they've arrested the driver who hit and killed a 50-year-old woman while crossing the street. the 27-year-old milwaukee man was taken into custody for operating after suspension -- causing death. the

60th and norwich. the driver did stay on scene. his case will be reviewed by the district attorney's office for possible charges. milwaukee police are investigating three separate shootings from overnight. the first happened near 47th and clarke around 9 p-m. police say a 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were riding bicycles when a suspect confronted them -- then shot them. both victims hit and taken to the hospital and expected to survive. about an hour later - police were called to 49th and luscher after a 29-year-old was shot as a group of people were fighting. the victim was is expected to be okay. then at around 11-15 -- a 27-year-year old man was shot during a fight near 23rd and greenfield. all the victims in these cases expected to survive... more fall-like temperatures today... what can we expect for the week? tom wachs will be in next with his forecast. plus, as you head to the polls -- they'll be watching. why ?wisconsin department of

reopen the election is being closely watched by you-- the voter. but also by observers... who are tasked with making sure federal voting rights laws are followed. and as julie collins shows us that includes observers with department of justice. millions have casted their vote today and people are watching. 'it is sort of an added layer of confidence i guess in case something does happen.' assistant attorney general, roy korte...hes 1 of many working with the milwaukee county district attorneys office...their job is to pay extra attention to make sure everything is going on safely, ordinary and fair. 'obviously were concerned with any delays or

any disruptions.' the 2-person teams include a division of criminal investigation agent - they are added eyes and ears should any problems arise. 'the attorney generals office does have authority to bring actions to protect voting rights should that arise so were available should that happen.' also on hand volunteer poll observers.. 'i think if anything it can be intimidating and deter people.' it didnt keep carly olander away but it made her 'it was very strange it felt a lot more structured and it was kind of interesting.' milwaukee police will have also teams from each district roaving around the polling places looking for any issues... anyone who has concerns about disruptions or bad behavior should call police. reporting in milwaukee - julie collins. fox 6 news.
