significance. executive director neil albrecht says about 41-thousand fewer voters participated in the 2016 election--- a drastic drop from 2012. he says there are a number of factors that impact whether a person votes. he believes one of those was the new voter id requirement. the wards with the highest drop in participation have a higher poverty rate, and are on the city's northside. ward six saw the biggest drop with a 31-percent decrease. "where we saw the greatest same areas of the city where we feared the photo id requirement and some of the other changes to election law... would have the greatest impact." but governor scott walker disputes voter id's played any role in low voter turn out. "that's a load of crap. theres absolutely no proof to that. we had the highest voter turnout weve had since 1972 in the primary process for both democrats and republicans had contested elections. we had the second highest turnout of any state in

deterrent to voting we wouldnt have had those kind of numbers. he thinks the presidential choices made thousands stay home. the simple reason why people didnt show up was that there wasnt enthusiasm for the presidential candidates. albrecht says the numbers paint a different picture and sees a growing disparity in voter turn out. "the impact of these laws just as predicted are having the greatest impact on residents in large urban areas in the city of milwaukee." albrecht says he hopes the new data can help the state improve the photo id public education campaign . live in the newsroom i'm angelica sanchez fox6 news. protests continue around the country to donald trump. it's a much calmer scene on the streets of downtown milwaukee tonight though. last night -- hundreds of protesters took to the streets. they marched around downtown -- blocking traffic for several hours. police worked to block streets as they anticipated the crowd's next move. some city leaders think police were too lenient with the crowd. milwaukee alderman bob donovan says he wanted police to take more action. he says the demonstrators didn't have a permit and should have been arrested for not obeying

ends when you infringe on other peoples rights." donovan says: "i think it's important police set the score right from the start if you dont have a permit people will be arrested if you go out into the street. that's message needs to be sent." mayor tom barrett says he wishes people channeled their frustrations earlier and differently -- by voting on tuesday. new at ten. a protest takes over th madison tonight. they're gathering against how the university handled the badgers fan that wore a president obama mask with a noose around his neck. protesters blocked several streets -- causing major traffic issues. we're told -- there was so much traffic -- it likely caused the university marching band to miss the school's homecoming parade... the owner of the car -- that police say hit and killed a five-year-old girl on sunday-- has been charged. lasheba crowder is accused of lying to police-- saying her

prosecutors say: she reported it stolen after the crash but later admitted she lied. her boyfriend is believed to be the person driving in the hit-and-run. he has been arrested, but charges are still pending against him. charges also filed today against the driver accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian near 60th and norwich on monday. prosecutors say 27-year-old "ruben tovar" was driving on a suspended license at the time of the crash. according to the criminal complaint -- he admitted he was on his phone a block or two away from the cr a sneezing fit -- and that's when he hit 50-year-old "shelly jarvey." tovar stayed on scene and called 9- 1-1 after the crash. looking of for justice. months after a grandmother and grandson were killed in a hit-and- run, family members tell us they have some peace. the accused driver pleads guilty to charges, but it's not over yet. fox 6's ashley sears is live outside of the milwaukee county courthouse to explain. 19-year-old marvin anthony pleaded guilty this morning to

run that killed 8-year-old taeshawn griffin and 46-year-old danielle triggs. family says they have some comfort, but they are still devastated. 32:36 we have been struggling. it's been six months-- no family should have to go through. 32:42 restless nights, no sleep, crying a lot and just trying to stay strong. in may, 8-year-old taeshawn griffin and his grandmother, 46 killed in a hit and run. 37:39 taeshawn was just a joyful kid. natasha griffin is taeshawn's aunt. 37:41 he was so full of life at 8 years old. months following the crash, 19-year- old marvin anthony was taken into custody. soon after--another blow-- anthony was released on a $500 bond. but now, the family says they are now one step closer to justice. 34:50 him pleading guilty, i

5-thousand dollars for information in the case. at last check -- the fire chief says it's still unclear whether the fire was accidental or arson. the four-alarm fire affected 300 people... fortunately no one was hurt. a milwaukee county bus driver -- getting some big praise tonight. it's all because of an unscheduled stop she made during a route. this is october 12th surveillance video of milwaukee county transit bus. the driver, jeannie mitchell, spotted a five-year-old girl, and one-year-old boy, wandering the area near hopkins and hampt the children get in contact with their mother. the kids apparently walked away from a babysitter, and were trying to find a relatives house. if the parent hadn't showed-up, i would, still, be thinkin', 'what happened to those children?' but, once the police showed-up, and did their part, i felt a lot better. jeannie says -- about 15 years ago, her own son went missing--for about 12 hours. she says she is happy to have prevented

we're almost to the pinnacle. win tonight and you head to madison for a chance at a gold ball and a state title. lose and the season was successful, but it ends 1 week early. those are the stakes for tonight's semifinal matchups around we start in division one, badger taking on franklin. tied at 7 in the 2nd when franklin's max alba and kyle lewis hook up for a huge play, a 56 yard touchdown and a 14-7 lead. badgers now down 21 to 7 in the 3rd when mason due-may dumez keeps it himself and goes 21 yards to get them within a touchdown at 21-14.but in the 4th, lewis answers with one of the plays of the
