thank you so much. nearly 500 refugees have arrived in sicily after being rescued by the italian navy. they were sailing in tough conditions off the coast when they were picked up. more than ,000 regulars have been rescued in just the past five days in that same area. dozens of people drowned in the effort. >> also happening in italy this weekend, a visit to the vatican by cuban president raul castro. pope francis will receive castro for "a strictly private audience." castro publicly thanked francis for his role in warming relations between cuba and the united states. the pope set to visit cuba before he annive roos in the u.s. in september. if you're interested it will soon be a lot easier to get to cuba from the united states. the government approved a ferry service between florida and cuba for the first time in 40 years. jetblue have a charter from new york city to havana. it's already been announced that direct flight service starts in july. >> drastic steps in california to address the drought crisis.
