in the district -- police investigating after multiple people were shot in southeast. the shooting happened around 10:30 last night in the 29-hundred block of martin luther king jr. avenue. the road was shut down for some time. authorities have not said exactly how many people were shot, but they do say that none of the injuries are life threatening. no word what led to the gunfire. we're staying on top of this, and we'll update you as we get more information. larry, autria, back to you in the studio. president donald trump has made his pick to fill that empty seat on the supreme court -- judge neil gorsuch. gorsuch is the youngest nominee in 25 years. now the question -- will he be confirmed? if some democrats get their way -- that answer could be no. suzanne kennedy is live from the supreme court this morning to explain... suzanne? a busy day on capitol hill as senators are expected to vote on

attorney general nominee jeff sessions. they're also expected to vote on secretary of state nominee rex tillerson later in the day. lastly a senate environment comitee will vote on epa administrator nominee scott pruitt. that's expected to happen around 10:45 protesters - making their voices heard about pruitt. they gathered outside the e-p-a headquarters in northwest last night -- saying they're against the nominee. there are reports that pruitt has accepted donations from companies-- then days later -- took official action to support those same companies! pruitt is the current attorney general in oklahoma. he denies those claims. tensions boiled over tuesday over two big cabinet picks. senate democrats are now boycotting a committee vote for congressman tom price for the health and human services department and steve mnuchin for treasury secretary. they believ e they mislead lawmkers in their sworn testimony and now they want answers. democrats say

into the newsroom u-s park police investigating an attempted sex assault here is what we know police say the assault happened near the intersection of suitland parkway and naylor road in hillcrest heights we've also learned it happened inside a car...around 3 this morning. the victim was able to flag down a d-c police officer... the suspect ran into nearby woods park police is looking for that suspect their being helped by d-c police and prince george's county police the victim wasn't hurt in all of this we don't know right now if the victim and suspect knew each other. this morning people in the d.c. area are reflecting on one of the most tragic incidents in our area's history..

event was held last night at the national law enforcement museum. on january 13th, 1982, an air florida plane struck the 14th street bridge and plunged into the potomac river. 78 people were killed, including four on the ground. five others survived. retired detective eric witzig says to reach the victims quickly, he and his partner sped down the national mall. he was honored last night, along with retired u.s. park police pilot don usher. after the crash, usher swooped in and plucked passengers from the frigid water. an unusual bill would have police telling drivers to hit the gas!! some virginia lawmakers want to address drivers going slow in the left lane... also known as the passing lane. officials believe it's creating a dangerous problem. the new bill would allow a fine

they say the ban is already negatively impacting the state. although it shouldn't effect citizens or green card holders the governor says he's hearing about businesses worried for their employees. the suit now includes four states. just to remind you - the order suspends immigrants from 7 countries for 90 days. happening today -- a rally for refugees at reagan national airport. protesters will gather to demand the president's travel ban be overturned. the event will be held in terminal "b" from six to eight tonight. numerous members of congress are expected to attend. also today.. maryland governor larry hogan will deliver his state of the state address. the title of the address is "real and lasting change." his speech from the maryland state house begins at noon.
