new steps to counter north korea's nuclear threats. the controversial thadd anti-missile system, on the move right this minute, in response to shows of force from north korea. the u-s and south korea are in the progress of installing it at a deployment site right now. this comes as other high-powered u.s. military assets are headed to the korean peninsula.. our question of the day - are you concerned about the tense developments with north korea? tell us at wjla dot com slash vote now. sam sweeney is at the live desk with how the white house is responding. larry, tensions high this morning on the korean penninsula. the u-s-s carl vinson airfraft carrier is closing in on the area and that's not the only american warship there. late tuesday - the u-s-s michigan.. a u-s nuclear submarine surfaced in south korea. this latest show of military force from the u-s comes after pyongyang carryed out a massive

on tuesday to mark the 85th anniversary of the north korean army. as the standoff intensifies - today all one hundred members of the u-s senate will visit the white house for a rare briefing on the situation. they'll be hearing from some heavy hitters - incuding defense secretary jim mattis, chairman of the joint chiefs gen. joseph dunford and secretary of state rex tillerson. that brieffing is set for three this afernoon. we'll be monitoring that breifing and the siutation with north korea closely. stay with abc seven and wjla dot com for all the latest developments. also happening today at the white house - president trump will unveil his "goals" for tax reform. they include a 15-percent corporate tax rate that critics say lacks a way to prevent a deficit increase. in an effort to win democratic support - the plan is also said to include infrastructure spending.

y2c56y yi0y burning in arizona. it broke out last night along the bush highway in buckeye valley. air tankers have been called in to help fight the flames. fire officials say it has already burned about 20 acres on both sides of the highway. right now - no homes or businesses are in danger. just over a year after his death - prince george's county police will honor fallen detective "jacai colson" today. colson was gunned down last march in a targeted attack against police outside the district three station. colson - who was in plain clothes at the time - was accidentally shot by an officer in the chaos. today - he will be remembered for his bravery at the 40th annual prince george's county

terrifying moments- playing out in our area nearly a year ago.. a deadly shooting spree across suburban maryland. now - as the suspect pleads gulity we're learning new details about what happened. sam sweeney is at the live desk with the chilling 911 tapes just released. former law enforcement officer eulalio tordil is accused of killing three people and wounding two others in three separate incidents. the first victim: his wife, gladys. she was fatally shot outside her prince george's county high school, in front of her screaming daughter. police say the next day, tordil gunned down good samaritan mike winffel while trying to steal a car at westfield montgomery mall. two other people were wounded. later that day, tordil allegedly

killed claudina molina while trying to carjack her vehicle outside the giant on connecticut avenue in aspen hill. tordil pleaded guilty yesterday to two of the three murders.. and both attempted murders. he remains charged with killing his wife. authorities expect to take up that case later. bank of america has launched a full investigation -- after a fake bill ended up in an a-t-m at a seattle bank. darcy fox says she went to the a-t-m to withdraw three-hundred dollars earlier this week. in the pile - she found a tattered piece of prop money. the bank gave her a replacement bill yesterday - but she says she still has a lot of questions. bank of america is calling it an isolated incident -- an say it has been reported to local isolated incident -- an say it has been reported to local police and the secret service. new this morning -- some big major league baseball news. the miami marlins

terror drill will be taking place at six locations in d.c., suburban maryland, and northern virginia. emergency and law enforcement personnel will respond to a simulated attack involving multiple target locations, and teams of perpetrators. the drill will take place from 8:30 a.m. until four p.m. and it will include actors posing as casualty victims.

morning.. montgomery county public schools have finished a safety review of rockville high school. but - they're not releasing what they found, at least not yet. the review was ordered after two teenagers were arrested - accused of raping a girl inside a bathroom during school hours. the school system plans to, in their words "follow up" on the review next week. former vice president joe biden is heading to george mason university
