eyewitness news... breaking news in raleigh. a crash shuts down traffic on a busy road. plus-- a battle over recounts. what a g-o-p lawyer is now calling on the state board of elections to do. and a special dinner looks to bring refugees together in the triangle. eyewitness news at ten starts right now. breaking news is first tonight. police ar shooting at the crossland economy studios. that's on highway 55 near allendown drive. our crew on the scene says one person went to the hospital with a gunshot wound. officers have the hotel roped off as they continue to investigate. we're also following breaking news in raleigh. a deadly motorcyle wreck on western boulevard. it happened shortly after 6-30 near central prison. the driver of the motorcyle died. no one else was hurt. police just

durham-- a suspect driving a stolen car leads deputies on a high speed chase. our crew on the scene says the camry crashed into another car on avondale drive. the men jumped out. a police dog captured one.... and the others are still on the loose. also new tonight. ballot battle. a lawyer for the g-o-p wants the state board of elections to take a closer look at 90-thousand ballots in durham. good evening i'm dejuan hoggard. heather walig this all comes after durham rejected the mccrory campaign's appeal. tim pulliam is in the raleigh eyewitness news center to break it all down for us. the state board of elections could hold a hearing on thursday this new hearing stems from a rejected appeal to recount votes in the governor's race in durham county. this week, pat mccrory's campaign and its surrogates will once again zero in on some 90,000 ballots in durham county.

stark want them recounted. recently. the campaign even hinted publicly at calling off a request for a statewide recount, if one happens in durham county. so they are taking their fight up a notch hoping the state elections board will make the final decision on those 90,000 ballots in durham. here's the background: the week before thanksgiving, stark took the republican-led durham county elections board to task during a hearing -- raising concerns over how those votes because of a computer problem. but the durham county elections board unanimously rejected the argument. sot bill brian/ durham county board elections 170707 we stand by that decision based on the evidence that was presented to us. mr. stark has every right to appeal us. and he did. this weekend, stark filed an appeal to the state board of elections. in the note, stark is raising more questions about the credibility of votes in durham county, including the possibility of felons voting.

determined it will hear stark's appeal giving the durham boe 48 hours to send transcripts, evidence and documents from the previous hearing. sot bill brian 170846 expedite the record -- which we are doing as fast as we can. the durham county elections board expects to receive the state board's formal request on monday. the durham board is planning to canvas votes on tuesday, which could be rejected by the state board -- if it decides on a recount. again, that hearing could happen on right now-- police are investigating a rolling gun battle in downtown rolling gun battle in downtown durham. officers say two vehicles were traveling on morgan street when they started to exchange gunfire. one of the cars crashed and the driver took off. no one was hurt. a bullet hole could be seen in the rear window of the car. so far no word of any arrests. to johnston county now-- where a homeowner shot an intruder. it happened

on adams road. that's right near i-40 in benson. deputies say the suspect broke a window and was entering the home-- when he was shot. the man was taken to wake med and is in stable condition tonight. a man is recovering tonight after falling into a sinkhole near falls lake. it happened early this morning on redwood road in durham. firefighters received a call for help and found the fisherman alive but visibly cold. he was taken to the hospital and we're told he is suffering from hypothermia. the sinkhole hurricane matthew. it's still not clear why he went past the security tape. new details tonight-- about a shooting that left a man dead outside a fayetteville wendy's. it happened yesterday afternoon on raeford road. police say the group had arranged to meet each other in the parking lot before the gunfire erupted. today, officers identified the victim as 31-year old brandon ratliff of norfolk virginia. two other men suffered minor injuries. police are still investigating. new tonight---

wildfires are more than 50- percent contained. more than 25- hundred firefighters are still in the mountains battling the flames by ground and air. one of the busiest travel days of the year is wrapping up right now. triple-a estimates one-point-four million people traveled over the holiday in north carolina. looking at the bigger picture... three-point-seven mllion people flew to their destinations nationwide. 50-thousand of them are north carolinians. we stopped by r- d-u international this afternoon where ever smoothly. the cost of flights also went up 21-percent this year. according to triple-a the average round trip ticket goes for two-hundred dollars. coming up tomorrow-- the city of fayetteville will meet to talk about hurricane matthew recovery. the community development department is holding a public hearing. they're looking to

ended up going to the hospital with gunshot wounds. no officers were hurt. new tonight--- coalition troops are reportedy making progress against isis in iraq and syria. national security adviser susan rice says iraqi forces have taken back about 55-percent of the territory that isis seized back in 2014. she also says troops have the key city of mosul completely surrounded. iraqi forces iraqi forces began their campaign to re- take mosul over a month ago. rice also said coalition troops have started isolating and ultimately seizing the group's de- facto capital of raqqa, syria.

europe are expected to come quite cheap. it's a christmas parade on water. people gathered in wrightsville beach this weekend for the 33-rd annual holiday flotilla. boats decorated in christmas- themed lights made their way down the intercoastal waterway. folks were also treated to a fireworks show, games and food. chapel hill kicking off the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony. the town hosted it's gaterhing in the memorial garden outside univesity baptist church. people got a chance to enjoy christmas car pictures with santa. meteorologist steve stewart is here now with the
