3 a waynesville mother charged with prostitution tells news 13 why she did it. dionne gray says it was an act of desperation to help her family make ends meet. she says her husband is fighting skin cancer and is looking for a job... and the bills were piling up. she admits she turned to prostitution, but never when her children were home. 3 (no verbatim)3 the fire mashal estimates the damage to be tens of thousands of dollars. 3 3 uber drivers are now being charged with criminal trespassing at the asheville regional airport. airport police are issuing cease and desist letters to local uber drivers. it's because the drivers do not have ground transporation permits. and since uber employees use privately-owned vehicles... they cannot get a commercial license or "for-hire" tags from the north carolina d-m-v. 3 "we need to have an airport permit for a commercial vehicle. we're not a commericial vehicle and can't get for hire plates as an uber driver from what i understand from the dmv. so we're kind of stuck. they want us to pay for a permit we can't even get." airport officials tell news 13 they are working with uber to 3 3 two hendersonville fire trucks were damaged during a breast cancer awareness program last october. the

but, the interim fire chief says the trucks sustained 70- thousand dollars worth of damage in the process. fortunately... insurance will cover it. the interim chief says the department used 'sign-o-rama' of asheville to decorate the vehicles. 3 6:18 ( ) "one of their employees that installed the pink wrap was using a cutting tool and actually put some cuts and scratches in the paint of the truck." both trucks must now be repainted... which will take more than a month. the department says it still plans on wrapping them in pink again next year to support the cause. 3 3 20-15 could be one of the costliest weather years. according to the national oceanic and atmospheric administration, there were 10 weather disasters that caused one billion dollars or more in damage. the year's biggest disasters ranged from tornados to severe weather and floods-- including what happened in south carolina. 3 3 cataloochee ski area is ready for a busy weekend. several feet of snow blankets the

snowmakers. news 13's lauren brigman is live from cataloochee. lauren, they have extended hours now? the ski area is now open seven nights a week... you can ski from 9 a-m until 10 p-m monday through friday and 8:30 a-m until 10 p-m on the weekends and holidays. if you're looking for snow, this is the place to be. 3 a warm december led to a slow start for business this year, but today is day 35 of business this season and things are looking up. over the past week, cataloochee's snowmakers have been blowing for the ski area to remain open throughout march. the snowmakers here at cataloochee know how to work against the adverse conditions, like the warm weather, to make it feel like winter in maggie valley. so much so, that they are up for a national award for snowmaking. 3 "to be warm in december, ya know, that's tough business-wise. we've certainly seen those temperatures and we've built our snowmaking system around being able to

years. the entire project is expected to cost more than two-million dollars. town leaders are applying for grants, getting corporate money, and asking for private donations. if the plan goes forward, the new pool should be ready by summer 2017. 3 3 the state is changing how it measures new charter schools. under the current policy, the state can revoke a school's charter if profiency standards are not met for two out of three years. the new policy will allow schools to operate under the label "inadequately performing" for the first five years of operation... instead of closing fogood. charter schools say this will help their style of education. 3 2:49 "this puts charters a little bit more closely alligned with the expectations and mandates that the state has for public schools." the state board of education says there are no low performing charter schools in western north carolina. 3 3 3 coming up... a rockslide
