the crime unfolded. police responded it a woman who was unresponsive in a door way soon after she died. now investigators on the scene are trying to figure out what led to her death. now police hope somebody can shed light on the death investigation of chelsea. investigators spending all of sunday outside this building after a woman was found unconscious inside a door way here. >> everybody is up in arms. >> gill davidson, former captain, woke up to police and questions. >> they said, have you ever seen this woman. i said, no. have you ever seen this guy? no. do you know anybody who lives in that building. >> davidson said police showed her and others a picture of this moment. moments later, kirstin was pronounced dead at the hospital. she was a doctor, lived on long island, and may have been visiting someone in the building. >> someone told us that it ended up being that this woman had died here. and it was just very shocking to all of us.

>> she was discovered around 8:30 sunday morning. police were called and an ambulance was waved down by a man. as soon as first responders took over, he left the scene. investigators took fingerprints and evidence from the building as neighbors looked on with questions. >> a lot of what people have been asking is what normally goes on around that time and i just said the same thing. just people walking dogs and joggers. the whole thing is very strange. >> you can see there's a surveillance camera outside the building where all of this occurred. we know there are cameras outside of several other buildings here on the black and we can tell that you tonight police are looking over that video in hopes they can figure out exactly what happened. at this hour, we're told, there is no one in custody and in arrests made yet. live in chelsea tonight, i'm ray villeda, news 4, new york. >> usually a safe area. now in brooklyn, the scene of yesterday's massive gas explosion. tonight, crews still on the scene searching for a woman believed to be buried in the rubble. investigators are working to determine if she may have played

we are also learning new details about the victim confirmed to be killed. 64-year-old lydia, neighbors can't say enough good things about her. news 4's ida siegal is live on the scene with more. ida? >> reporter: and rob, here on the scene, work crews have been using an excavator to tear through the rubble, what was left of two buildings here. the excavator paused in just the last few minutes. and it looks like it is starting to work once again. no word just yet on whether they have gotten any closer to finding that woman who has been missing. >> tonight, workers on scene were meticulously going through the rubble on 13th avenue. they are searching for the body after missing woman who may be buried here. yesterday, first responders found the body of a 64-year-old woman named lydia. she lived on the third floor and was killed when the building exploded. >> she was very beautiful, caring, loving.
