eventually we'll get rid of the clouds, too. many of us seeing clouds and fog, it is not going to linger for much longer. we actually have clear skies across the western portion of our viewing area. the visibility is up to 10- miles in durham, but we are still dealing with this low clouds. we have thick fog in henderson. visibility is down the zero there. so patchy thick fog is still going to linger for about another hour or so warming up quickly as we head through this afternoon. it is 41 degrees in raleigh. 42 degrees outside in durham. 39 in clayton. 45 degrees in fayetteville. a big area of high pressure is going to build in today. it will lead to sunny skies as we head into this afternoon. in the a bad way to end the weekend, but the temperatures are still going to be on the cool side. right now it is 41 degrees. we'll warm up to 51 degrees by lunchtime. peeks of sunshine likely. and then clearing skies by 6:00 p.m. looking at a temperature of 52 after a high around 56 degrees. we do have much warmer weather

to win independents and to make sure trump does not win independents. >> reporter: hillary clinton won louisiana putting her closer to winning the deep south. now she is looking ahead to winning the mississippi primary on tuesday. >> i am a progressive who likes to get things done. new this morning, after the results came in, trump gave his victory speech in florida. in it he said he believes rubio should drop out at this point making ate one-on-one race between trump and ted cruz. in fayetteville, preparations are underway for donald trump's visit there. wednesday night trump will address supporters at the crown coliseum. his office opened in fayetteville last week. this is the second visit for trump in north carolina. he held a rally in raleigh in december. and the clintons will be making stops in our state next week. bill clinton will campaign here tomorrow. details of that trip have not yet been announced. the former secretary of state,

north carolina on thursday. she will take the opportunity to encourage people to take advantage of early voting at the march 15th primary. the latest elon poll shows hillary clinton with a 10-point lead over bernie sanders in north carolina. hear from the head of the republican party on "face the nation" this morning. the show now airs here on cbs north carolina sunday mornings at 10:30. and i'll be talking live with the moderator john dickerson at 8:45. and egyptian student arrested after he wrote on his facebook page that he would be willing to serve a life sentence for killing trump has agreed to leave the u.s. by this summer. the 23-year-old is currently in orange county's jail in california. this comes after the owner of a flight school reported the student to federal investigators and revoked his student visa last month. brian levien is an attorney and the director of the center for hate and extremism at cal state san bernardino.

atlanta recording studio left a rapper dead. so far no arrests have been made. the studio is home to million m. well known rap artists, including two chains. looking ahead to next week, the jury in the erin andrews case will begin deliberating monday. they will have to decide whether two hotel companies and a convicted stalker should be forced to pay the sportscaster millions of dollars. an attorney for andrews said the two hotel companies enabled the stalker who took nude videos of her and posted them on line. opening statements begin tomorrow in former prowrestler hulk hogue i don't know's $100 million trial against the news web site gawker. it stems from them publicking 41 seconds from one of hogan's sex tapes in 2012. hogan is suing for invision of privacy, however, gawker claims since hogan is a public figure, the sex tape is news worthy.

so get news they're seeing snow now. a little bit closer to home here. a live look in asheville and it is back to the west, and we're already seeing sunny skies there. so even though many of us are waking up to cloud this is morning, we will be seeing that sunshine ventally moving in a little later today. we had a few showers roll through last night and early the morning. the showers are not an issue. eventually these clouds are going to work their way out of the picture as well. many of us still dealing with clouds and fog. it is not going to be an issue for much longer. visibility is still at three quarter0s of a mile in henderson. so around vance county and parts of franklin county here, we are seeing that visibility really reduce bus of some of the fog still lingering. elsewhere, all of the numbers have been improving, which means the fog is lifting and the clouds are actually going to be moving out here. it is 41 degrees in raleigh. it is 39 degrees in rocksboro. 38 in roanoke rapids.

45 is our current temperature in fayetteville. terp also be warming up today, into the mid 50s this afternoon, and we're only going to be dealing with the thickest cloud cover here this morning. so later today the clouds move out. we have sunshine returning later in the afternoon with our high temperature up to about 56. now, it is a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday, but 56 is still unseasonably cool for this time of year. our normal high temperature should be right around 60 degrees. and we'll get there, even as early as tomorrow. for today we are going to see decreasing clouds. the temperatures still cool. we have an err why of high pressure building in from the west. because of that our flow of air is still coming from the north and the northwest here. so demps today not going to get out of the 50s. tomorrow, that -- temperatures today not going to get out of the 50s. tomorrow, we get the flow out of the southwest. we have mostly sunny skies in the forecast with temperatures getting warmer as we start the week. that high moves further offshore.

moving in from the south. sunshine tuesday, wednesday and thursday. temperatures here warming all the way up into the 70s. i won't be surprised if by thursday we've got some spots getting pretty close the that 80-degree mark. for today still ton cool side. 56 -- still ton cool side. 58 -- on the cool side. temperatures ton cold side tonight. back down into the 30s. 35 degrees so a cold start to our day tomorrow, but the temperatures warm up pretty nicely tomorrow afternoon. 64 degrees for our monday. 72 on tuesday with sunny skies. we'll stay sunny and we'll stay warm through the rest of this week. 74 degrees on wednesday. up to 76 degrees on thursday. thursday is going to be the warmest day of the week with those temperatures well into the 70s. we have a chance for a few showers as we head into friday and saturday. but those will mainly be during the afternoon, evening hours.

state turned pro football player. police say earl wolf was visiting friends when several gunmen captured wolf and took him to hope mills he e was later released unharmed. wolf played for the wolfpack from 2008 to 2012 and currently plays for the jacksonville jaguars. the police charged 21-year-old bobby bailey in this case. he is being held in the cumberland detention center under a $156, 000 bond. he is set to face a list of charges on march 23. and a second person has died following a parking lot shooting earlier this week in hickory. it happened wednesday outside of a mcdonald's. the police say the suspect opened fire killing row shell scott. a second person wounded in the shooting, cody watts, died from his injuries friday night. the police say the killings related incident. a driver testing a race car is dead following a crash. the troopers say the driver was thrown from the car shortly before 11:00 yesterday morning.

went off the road and hit a ditch causing it to roll over. the troopers have not yet released the victim's name but say he was from canada. a scary incident for shoppers at a target store after a piece of metal came crashing through roof. the fire rues say it took some time, but as we report, the veers finally figured out where it came from and what it was. >> reporter: it came crashing through the roof of the target in nightdale with such a terrifying sound, the witnesses reported hear an explosion. >> what we actually found was this one, probably five to eight-pound piece of metal that had come through the ceiling, literally in the center of the store. >> reporter: at first the fire department didn't know where it had come from. >> once we eliminated it being something from within the store, you know, one of the thoughts was had a plane passed over and, you know, was it flying now but a piece it should have? >> reporter: but that wasn't it.

metal came from a construction site behind the store. >> and they had a woodchipper. the woodchipper threw one of its teeth and the tooth literally went probably 800, 900 feet and went through the center of the target. >> that is amazing for it to come crashing through the roof that is crazy. >> reporter: the chief says the flying metal did damage a beam and leave a hole in the store's roof. fortunately, thoughno one was hurt. >> as heavy as this is, if somebody had been standing where it fell, it would have been a really bad day for them. >> we tried to reach the company running that woodchipper but did not receive a reply. just months after the confederate flag controversy in south carolina, the confederate national flag flew over our state's capitol. it does not have the more well known blue cross of the confederate battle flag. yesterday it flew in honor of the con fed rated flag day and it often flies in january on robert e. lee's birthday.

on the capitol grounds to remember people missing from the war in southeast asia. they're part of the north carolina vietnam veterans, incorporated group. they have met on the first saturday of every month for the past 28 years. they call out the names of those unaccounted for. they say they started 28 years ago with 65 names and are now down to 39. raleigh's mayor will give the state of the city tomorrow. it will take place at the raleigh convention center and start at 12:30. the door also open at 11:30. the event is free and open to the public and we'll have more on what was discussed tomorrow night an cbs north carolina news. still to come in this newscast, it is not jurassic park, but the dinosaurs are invading raleigh. we'll tell you where you need to go to head to this unique experience. and outside this morning, we're still locked under some clouds, but we are seeing some breaks in those clouds. sunshine is in your forecast for today.

woman died after driving under an overpass and straight into floodwaters in sacramento, california. the woman was trapped under water inside the vehicle for about 15 minutes and once firefighters were able to get to her, they found that she had already passed away. a passenger was able to get out of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital no word on their condition. so really unfortunate situation there. just one more reminder, do not drive through flooded waters. luckily we do not have any type of wet weather to worry about anymore today and through the next several days. you're taking a live look outside now. there is the biltmore estate looking gorgeous. and we are going to see some sunshine working its way back into the area as we head through this afternoon. saturday or satellite and radar, excuse me, showing wet weather moving out of the picture here. we are going to see dry weather moving in for the next several days. looking pretty good. our visibility improving as well.
