police say they know the hack of hundreds of celebrities. good morning, everyone. thanks for watching north carolina news. i'm russ bowen. >> good morning, russ. good morning to you as well. i'm stefan chase. let's get you to meteorologist alyssa core front and the beautiful color she's got on this morning. hopefully it will be a beautiful day as well. i'm ready for the high temperatures. the record is 86 degrees. we'll be close to that as we head into the afternoon. meantime, we're starting off with clear skies. back to our west, the faint line of showers is developing right ahead of a cold front. that will be moving into our overnight. we have a small threat for a shower or two later today. dry. we dropped back into the upper 50s. we're at 58 in raleigh.

murdered here and police remain on scene. the car that you see right now with its doors opened, police confirmed that that is part of the crime scene. there is crime scene tape around this amount. we're in the 500 block of hardy street. just behind that car is another apartment building, and we believe that is also somewhat part of the crime scene. investigators were callinged to this complex around 2:00 this morning in report of a shooting. that is when they found the 24- year-old man. police say they have not made any arrests at this time. you can see they are definitely searching for evidence as the forensics team is out here and several police officers and the homicide investigators are also on scene. they will be here until 9:00 this morning. that's when they hope to pass along the name and more information about who this man that was murdered is and of course, any other information, maybe a possible arrest of course. right now, no arrests at this time.

governor pat mccrory and roy cooper locked up their party's nominations in tuesday's primaries. cooper took a commanding lead hoping to unseat pat mccrory. throughout the campaign, he has questioned mccrory's priorities. >> we node a new set of priorities, helping everyone in this improving economy, making affordable, quality education better than ever. >> meanwhile, governor mccrory swept the nomination for the republican sid getting 82% of the vote, but last night, he didn't comment much on his victory. he did, however, post a facebook video outlining important issues the next governor needs to address. >> we need a governor who will lead and do what's right to prepare our state for the future. we need a governor that will continue to focus on jobs and the economy and will focus on improving education and raising teacher pay. >> as it sits right now, the race for governor in our state

expensive races in the country. >> governor mccrory was also focused on another win last night. the connect nc bond passed a referendum on the ballot for parks and universities across north carolina like wake tech. emma right joins us from the belt line education center. why has the bond been such a hot topic? >> reporter: this has been a hot topic since it was proposed months ago. a lot of opponents saying $2 billion is just too much money, but now the voters have spoken in the bond, and it will go through. much of that $2 billion will be spent on the colleges and universities. chapel hill will get $68 million for a medical center.

here at wake tech, $12 million. now, passing this bond has been a bipartisan effort, but republicans and democrats have been lobbying hard for it to go through so we could get the new education buildings here in north carolina. coming up, we'll hear from the head of the universities and what she thinks. >> thanks, emma. florida senator marco rubio dropped out. the question remains, though, can trump lock up the nomination? >> reporter: another tuesday and the race getting more narrowed down than ever before after donald trump was able to force florida senator marco

trump getting an amazing win in florida showing the trump momentum that has been happening so far and not going away any time soon if the polls are to be believed. rubio had a chance 0 speak to supporters after the polls closed making it clear he was proud of his campaign and that while he will be the nominee in 2016 and will see the future with the republican party with the possibility of another campaign down the line. he certainly wasn't able to define it for this year. when it comes to the republican race, ohio governor john kasich doing very well tuesday night, winning his home state. that was essential if he wanted to stay in the race. he thanked his supporters, family, friends. mitt romney was out on the stump with him monday. it certainly seemed to help there in ohio as he was able to continue on the race.

the vetting process. several celebrities exposed by a hacker when their private accounts were compromised has an update. >> rachel kim has the latest and how you can protect your own e-mail account against hackers. >> reporter: actress jennifer lawrence and model kate upton are one of many exposed when private accounts with are hacked into resulting in the leak of very private pictures and videos. tuesday, the feds announced they arrested a 36-year-old pennsylvania man involved in the celebrity gate. using a phishing scheme, he sent the victims an e-mail that looked like they were from apple or google asking them to provide user names and passwords. when he got into their accounts, some of them cloud- based storage. collins found the personal info which later ended up online.

84 our afternoon high. warmer than where we were yesterday. there is a small chance we could see a shower or fee later today. that's because this cold front will be sweeping through. ahead of it, unseasonably warm. near record breaking, a few showers as the cold front comes through, and we're in the wake of that front tomorrow. so it's not going to be as warm. high pressure is starting to nudge in. overall, it is going to be a dry day. here's what i'm thinking. we're dry out there this morning. plenty of sunshine early. remember the sunglasses for the morning commute. 5:00, 5:30 this evening, we could see a few extra clouds home for the drive home. can't rule out a spotty shower at this point in time. most of us will stay dry. while be dry for thursday. 85 our high today in sanford and pinehurst.

but we do know he is 24 years old. police tell us they hope to give us the name of the victim by 8:00 or 9:00 this morning of course when family and friends have been notified. you can see behind me that it is a very active scene. the car that you are seeing, police have confirmed that this is part of the crime scene. they also say that they are investigating all around that back building as well. you can see there are markers and forensics teams out there at 2:00 this morning. they found the 24-year-old victim shot to death, okay? he is, again, 24 years old. police say he will be on scene until 8:00 this morning. we are seeing a lot of traffic. if you can, take an alternate route. police needing information from

they say no arrests have been made. if you have any information, you are asked to call the durham police department directly or you can always remain anonymous through crimestoppers. lauren haviland, cbs north carolina. just last year, the same block of hardy street was the site of another shooting. these two were arrested with attempted murder in january. the charges stem from a shooting last june when police found a taxi driver with a gunshot wound. police say two men robbed and shot the driver while he was walking to his cab. new numbers rolling in on the race for the white house. democrat hillary clinton and republican donald trump have won the presidential primaries. north carolina republicans. ted cruz a bit of a close second. you can see the numbers right

on the democratic side, hillary clinton winning big in north carolina. taking a look at who won the counties in our area. on the gop side, trump won lee, vance, and cumberland counties. tedd cruise nash, wake, durham, orange and wilson. on the democratic side, hillary clinton took most of the state. in our area, bernie sanders took the lead in orange county. >> more results are announced. governor mccrory and attorney yen roy cooper will face off in the governor's race. the race is shaping up to be an expensive one. pat mccrory spoke sidedly about the passing of the nc bond not the nomination. however, later, he did deliver a message on facebook to all of his supporters. >> we need a governor who will lead and do what's right to prepare our state for the future.

emma, what are you hearing? >> reporter: we're hearing people are excited about it. opponents say $2 billion is too much for people to spend, but now that the voters have spoken, the state says they are ready for it and the schools are excited about it. the $2 billion bond will be used for infrastructure projects around the state. most of the money will go to the state colleges and universities, the university system and community colleges. we're told unc will get a new building for their medical school and central will get a new business school. getting this $2 billion bond passage has been a bipartisan effort. republicans and democrats working together to get the measure passed. the schools say they are excited about the new money.

cnn is reporting president obama could name his pick for the supreme court nomination as early as today. he has finished vetting all of his candidates. we'll be on the lookout for that news. attorney general roy copper and pat mccrory will go head-to-head for the race for governor. he pulled ahead with 82% of votes on the republican side while cooper snagged 71%. looking good and a nice sunrise. >> yeah, beautiful sunrise because we're seeing cloud-free skies. we'll continue with that sunshine as we head throughout the morning. later today, we could see a stray shower or form. we're at 58 in raleigh, 58 in durham, siler city and lewisburg. 75 at noon.
