"action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live on the campus in collegeville. annie. >> reporter: matt we are waiting to learn the name of the young victim who went to ursinus college. it was along this busy road main street that goes through ursinus that happened last night. this is video from the scene around 6:30 yesterday evening main street near 6th avenue. police say the student was

struck and killed after being hit by a vehicle. the vehicle did stop at the scene and the police say the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. the driver of the vehicle and witnesses stayed by and fully cooperated with police. a tweet later in the evening, late last night around 11:30 was sent out by you are ursinus college. we caught up with a student this morning who said everyone on campus is sad. >> i was actually in a test and everyone we heard all the alarms going off and all, we couldn't -- and then we got out and we heard that someone had been hit and killed. it was in our community, we didn't know who it was, everybody was going home and we were happy, and now we're sad.

>> reporter: they were happy heading home from holiday break because their finals wrap up on saturday, most of the students who have finishing their finals are staying around until friday and saturday. students are saddened about the death of one of their own. reporting live in collegeville, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> new this morning, a basement fire forced out a family in south jersey, the flames started around midnight on the 1400 block of north chesapeake road in camden. the red cross is helping the residents, none of them were hurt. philadelphia police are investigating the death of a woman found inside an abandoned home. the body was discovered on the 2200 block of north chadwick street yesterday. the detectives have not identified the woman nor have they released a manner of death. happening today a hearing is scheduled for a former death row inmate over his medical
