we have our weather and traffic teams getting you ready for what could be in some areas a slick commute. a house fire claims a life in burlington county new jersey. police are sorting out the details of a deadly attack in the basement of a restaurant in south philadelphia that was unfolded while open for business. good morning, 4:30, friday, march 4. we have team coverage of the snowfall, annie mccormick is live in new jersey. let's start with karen rogers and david murphy. >> reporter: good morning, everyone, you can see this is a nuisance snowfall. there are breaks in the action around gloucester and camden county. most of the stuff is highlighted in gray, it is fine light snow.

down south more pronounced. we're going to a coating to an inch. it will be dart in philadelphia and wilmington -- it will be done in philadelphia and wilmington for the most part after 9:00 a.m. or so. the wide view you can see this on the back edge of this, down the shore, it may hang in longer into the afternoon. the winter weather advisory is up until 9:00 a.m. in the i-95 corridor. along the shore you have the advisory until 1:00 p.m. light nuisance stuff and with temperatures below the freezing mark, anything that has been pretreated is holding up very well this morning. le karen rogers will talk about that in a moment. be careful on sidewalks and side streets it could be on the slick

side snow showers and slippery pavement on the way to the bus stop. we'll be above the freezing mark. by 9:00 a.m., 34. 10:00 a.m., 36. while we have mostly cloudy skies, the high march sun angle combined with 42 degrees will melt what's fallen overnight. karen rogers we have future tracker 6 showing you the departure of this coming up. >> reporter: we have a new accident even though the roads look wet. i-95 approaching cottman, southbound we've got an accident blocking the right lane. so far it doesn't look like police are on the scene. they might be pulling up now. watch for that. looks like it could be over in the center lane. i'm watching people getting over to the left and the truck getting to the right. this is king of prussia, the schuylkill expressway at henderson road, kind of hard to his you can see the snow blowing across the camera window. the roads mostly wet. we're seeing that on the schuylkill expressway.

you're hearing david say, kids wake up early take a look at the snow, because when the sun comes up, this will melt. this is runnymede where we are, there are crews out there putting down salt. that's why the roads are fine. they are wet, but there's problems going up and down them. we can see snow on the area car dealership there. looks like like a half inch to an inch this is on the cars, since nobody has been in since it's early to get into the office yet. take a look at route 70 in cherry hill. roads clear, but wet. that's what they were seeing overnight. back out here live we talked to a number of people out here in runnymede we'll bring you what they have to say in the next half-hour. everybody is saying the same thing, they like winter, they hope this is the last time they see winter and they are ready for spring. live in run -- runnymede, annie

avenue. >> reporter: matt, the victim was a 54-year-old cook at lee's cafe and bistro in south philadelphia. she was found in the basement kitchen with her throat slashed. police and medics were called to the 500 block of washington avenue in south philadelphia around 9:00 p.m. last night. they found the woman downstairs lying on the floor. there was blood everywhere, signs of a violent struggle. again this restaurant was open. there's takeout on the first floor he and a restaurant on the second floor. there's a dumb waiter device that moves the food up and down from the basement. the restaurant as it was open there were four other employees inside at the time, plus several customers on the second floor in the restaurant area, homicide detectives are in the process of conducting interviews. not every employee is accounted for, however

detective's know who the employees are and they are actively seeking out the employees for questioning. the employees who were present at the time are being questioned by homicide detectives. >> reporter: even though the murder happened inside the restaurant, police are reviewing exterior surveillance footage from nearby restaurants. they are hoping to get clues who was coming and going from the restaurant at the time. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." tam. thank you, katherine. happening today, philadelphia police force is hosting their first department wide community day, the public is invited to get to know the officers in their neighborhoods. this is the first time that's all happening on the same day. mediation talks are happening in washington, d.c. between new jersey transit and it's union workers who are threatening to strike. thousands are poised to walk off

the job next saturday. if the trains stop running they will expand service on 30 bus routes and bring in help from private carriers. we have snow just about everywhere across the region, but it's light. >> reporter: very light. storm tracker 6 live double scan is showing you what we're looking at is light at this point. double scan technology is showing that to you, if we go in closer there's breaks in the action around philadelphia. one in media and chadds ford. if i start up the movement you'll see this is continue to go flow in generally and slowly from the southwest. the darker shades of gray, light snow with very little impact. where it's lighter gray that's steadier snow. none of this is all that particularly heavy. unless you're going to the shore there are spots where there is lavender and oceanville and back in ocean city and fortescue.

worse visibility there. as we go out wider there's not much of an issue longer in the i-95. during the morning rush we'll see this break apart. down the shore it will band a little bit longer, maybe up until lunch time. not much longer for the snow in philadelphia. maybe another 3 or 4 hours or less. as we take a look outside, we have light snow falling with temperatures just above freezing mark. we are looking at just wet roads out there, in any spots that have been pretreated. that pretreatment, the brine, the salt works well when you have temperatures around the freezing mark. i don't see anything on the map below 29 degrees right now. as we look at the numbers across the region. 29 in trenton, allentown, reading, lancaster, 31 there. 31 in wilmington, 30 in millville and 31 in cape may. take it slow on the wet roads. of course if you get off the main roads where the treatment was not happening last night or not as good, maybe slick spots

there. sidewalks you want to be careful, as well. the temperatures that are below freezing are not going to stay that way for long. 8:00 a.m., 34 in wildwood. 33 in millville. 32 in philadelphia. below freezing in allentown. as soon as 10:00 a.m., allentown is pushing above the freezing mark and the i-95 car door well above it. the snow may take longer to get out of here down the shore, once we get past 10:00 a.m., with the sun angle, with a coating of to an inch what you're seeing falling will melt. it will be windier later in the day, 42 is the high in the lehigh valley. down the shore, snow and rain and windy conditions down the shore.

a live look here, the action cam is live in wilmington, delaware, overnight we've had some flakes start up and coming down. the surfaces on the ground look wet. we see them coming down in the light, but when they hit the ground they tepid to melt. -- they tend to melt. karen rogers found a problem for it, where is it? >> reporter: this is i-95 at cottman, it's hard to tell it's blocking all lanes on i-95 southbound they are pushing people off on the ramp. penndot is moving around to show

us the scene. i-95 southbound the accident approaching cottman, it was blocking a lane, police arrived they blocked all lanes and they are forcing everybody off into the ramp. it's kind of scary to be walking around in the dark there. we see penndot on the scene as well as police, watch for this accident. hopefully they will clear it shortly, for now they will be blocking traffic and pushing traffic off on the ranch. i-95 southbound approaching cottman. the ben franklin bridge wet, looking okay. we have speed restrictions 35 miles per hour on the betsy ross bridge, ben franklin bridge, commodor barry bridge. watch for that as you head out. let's check the vine street expressway. looking good, this is a good shot under the headlight. snow is coming down steadily. as we look at the road surface it's just wet at this point. not out of the question you'll hit a slushy spot or two.

accident scene we've been showing you, blocking the right lane, we have a different shot giving you the idea, just beyond the curve, penndot on the scene of the accident i-95 southbound at cottman it was blocking all lanes, now we can see the right lane is blocked. i want to take you to the vine street expressway here, crews are working on the light at this point, on the vine past 8th street. you can see emergency workers on the scene trying to fix the problem with the lights. in this area, dave you can see how the roads are just wet. >> reporter: looking like it's wet roads everywhere where you had pretreatment because temperatures are below the freezing mark. the snow is starting to break up in the northern and western suburbs, even in philadelphia, very light at this point. you have more snow in south jersey and delaware, it will be until lunchtime until it gets off the coast. we'll see the snow break up over
