off duty police officer. >> this is also breaking. a woman is killed while crossing the street in the path of an uber car. >> and new this morning, a lottery winner's luck runs out. police say she used stolen money to buy the tickets. that's a problem. >> good morning, it's 5:30 on this wednesday june 1st. dave murphy is off so we've got karen rogers, our meteorologist taking a look at accuweather and matt pelman is watching that traffic. good morning. >> good morning. we've got a great day ahead. it's going to be warm. we've got at least partly sunny skies and the humidity is not too bad either. satellite6 and action radar showing we're clear along the i-95 corridor. we have a batch of clouds moving to our western suburbs and we're going to see some clouds mixing with sun today but it's still going to be bright through the day today and dry as well. how about the temperatures? 69 already in philadelphia. temperatures basically uniform even in the lehigh valley you're in the mid to upper 60's this morning. 65 in reading. 67 in allentown. only 62 in millville but 65 in cape may. 62 in atlantic city and 66 in beach haven.

we have noticed just a touch of fog and i want the give you an update with this. we're looking a lot better in millville. at one point we were at a half mile visibility. it's jumped to 7-mile visibility in the last half hour. still holding at .3 of a mile in wilmington. you'll notice a little bit of fog there and philadelphia international airport down from 10-mile visibility to eight. that's still not a big deal. it's really only wilmington that's an issue. watch for that. here's how your at any is going to look. pretty bright and nice. by 7:00 a.m., 69. by 9:00 a.m., 75. by noon we're up to 83 degrees and it now looks like we'll be bumping up our temperature to the upper 80's once again so temperatures above average. 86 at 3:00 p.m. and by 5:00 p.m., 83 degrees coming down from that high of 86. a nice one today. we are tracking rain in the seven day. i'll spell out when coming up in just a minute, matt. >> all right. so, you're back to work this morning, karen rogers. welcome back. and a lot of our construction crews went back to work last night. they closed the vine street expressway once again for overnight work but as you can see is, it is reopened now where the vine joins up with

the schuylkill everything's moving along just fine. they will shut it down again tonight starting at 11 o'clock. still some overnight work going on right now on the pennsylvania turnpike. the northeast extension southbound there's a zone between lansdale and mid-county blocking the left and center lanes and then on the east-west turnpike westbound at valley forge the left lane is also blocked as well as part of the off-ramp there. our crash we had this morning in lower gwynedd along 309 northbound at butler pike that's cleared out of the way and overnight construction on the burlington bristol bridge has also cleared but tonight starting at 9 o'clock they're going to close the burlington bristol bridge. at that point i would stay up on the turnpike connector bridge as an alternate. live look at 295 in bellmawr. these are the southbound lanes by the black horse pike. just up ahead, 295 was closed overnight for construction. it's not closed any longer. everything's reopened and traffic is moving well. but for the next half hour watch out for work going on in logan township gloucester county along 322 and last week when that was in the process of clearing it gave us some

delays. we'll see if that happens this morning. matt. >> thank you, matt. we continue to follow breaking news. an off duty police officer who was involved in a crash in north philadelphia opened fire on a car but the bullets hit the lobby of a nearby hospital outpatient center instead. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near temple university hospital where this all happened. katherine. >> reporter:. >> reporter: matt, thankfully no one was seriously injured in all of this. the the officer was off duty t we're told he fell off his motorcycle and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. you know see that was the motorcycle -- you can see that was the motorcycle. that remains on the z. right now it's taped off. about a half block down tioga is where the lobby window was shattered from a bullet. let's go to video so you can get a closer look at this window. this happened before 11:30 last night at broad and tioga in north philadelphia. police say the off duty officer was riding his motorcycle when he and another vehicle crashed into each other. what exactly happened we don't yet know but police say he fired three shots at that vehicle. at least one bullet went

through the lobby window of temple university hospital's outpatient services center and lodged into the lobby wall. thankfully no one inside was hit. that other vehicle took off. it's described as a chevrolet monte carlo. it was last seen heading east on tioga. philadelphia police responded as did temple police. now, we are hearing that there is surveillance video that captured the crash that kicked this whole thing off. so far that video has not been released but that will be a useful piece of evidence for investigators. we are live in north philadelphia, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you for that. and there's more breaking news in north philadelphia. a woman leaving a deli walked into the street and was struck and killed by an uber driver. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live where that happened, the 2200 block of cecil b. moore. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tamala. at this point police are calling this a tragic accident. they believe that the victim walked out into traffic here on cecil b. moore avenue behind me and that uber driver was just not able to stop in

time. well, this is video from the scene. we're told that police received multiple flynn 11 calls around 1:30 this morning. when police arrived they found the victim on the ground with severe head trauma. med ticks rushed her to hahnemann hospital where she was pronounced dead. the uber driver stayed on the scene with his 2016 honda. police say he had just dropped off a group of people. the driver was sober and interviewed by accident investigators at the scene. >> it was late at night. even though the street is well hit it was still dark out. she exited the deli, walked between two parked cars and then walked -- walked into oncoming traffic. but the driver remained on the scene after striking this female. >> reporter: and that uber driver was interviewed by investigators here at the scene. they did let him leave with his vehicle. again, they do in the believe that he was intoxicated in any

way. rider now they're still trying to identify the victim. they say that she is a woman in her 40's. she didn't have any i.d. on her. they think that she might be from this area. they think that maybe she was just going to the local deli. they're still working to identify the victim. for now reporting live in north philadelphia, annie mccormick, channel6 "action news." tam. >> annie, thank you for that. and police released new details about a deadly motorcycle crash in mercer county, new jersey. the driver of the toyota tundra collided with the biker in hopewell township and kept going. this happened last night at route 546 and scotch road. but police did catch up with the driver a mile away. it was a man. and they took him in for questioning. the 60-year-old motorcyclist from lawrence township died there at the scene. >> new this morning, peco crews are making repairs to a transformer that was damaged by fire overnight. smoke was seeping from a manhole at frankford and allegheny avenues in the city's port richmond section at 2:00 a.m. the underground fire was quickly contained. no injuries were reported. at least one business reported a brief power outage.

a mother who was infected with the zika virus gave birth to a baby with microcephaly at a hospital in hackensack, new jersey. that is the first for the state and the second in the country. in both cases the women acquired zika outside of the continental united states. the birth defect stunts development of the baby's head and brain. hospital officials in hackensack will only say the mother is a visitor to the u.s. and has asked for privacy. >> new this morning, a schuylkill county woman who won the pennsylvania lottery is accused of ripping off a convenience store to get the money to buy the lottery tickets. 51-year-old joanne lechlightener of pottsville is one of four people facing felony theft charges. pennsylvania state police say the group stole more than $175,000 from the agway between 2011 and 2016. luck lightener won $261,000 on a cash five ticket back in september. >> 5:37. the brazos river in texas continues to rise in some

parts it is cresting at more than 3 feet above what had been record flood stage. boats and trucks are shuttling people out of the town of rosenberg. 150 households have been evacuate there had with much of the once dry ground now under water. and the forecast calls for up to 3-inches of more rain in the coming days. the flooding is already to blame for at least six deaths there in texas. >> my mother says everything there is green but you can't enjoy it because it's come with all of that. >> torrential downpours. >> yeah. >> and still more coming for them am meanwhile we're on kind of a dry spell in our area. a front that's out to our west is going to impact us later this weekend but not for a couple days. we're looking pretty good. let's take a look right now at storm tracker6 live double scan around the region, you can see that we're dry, we're looking pretty good. staying dry today. and let's see what it looks like outside. we're going to go outside live right now and check out sky6. what a beautiful shot. you see a fair amount of clouds out there but you can see the sunshine starting to rise out there and filtering through as sky6 looks live

over the ben franklin bridge. and that's going to be the flavor of the day. we are going to see a good amount of clouds but it's still going to be bright out there today. 69 degrees already the current temperature. it's warm. the dewpoint is 65. so, it's up there right now but it will continue to drop through the day and it will feel pretty comfortable with the humidity later on this afternoon. the barometric pressure is arriving its at 30.02. the winds are out of the north-northwest. very light breeze but they'll shift to more of a easterly wind later today and the ocean temperature is 60 degrees, still cold. satellite6 and action radar showing that we've got clear skies in south jersey and the city. we are seeing those clouds start to move in from the west, though, and we are going to see those high clouds mixing with the sunshine. so, you're going to get some of that through the day today but it's still going to be enough to feel pretty bright out there. let's check the day planner for you. by 8:00 a.m., 73 degrees with sunshine. by 10:00 we're up to 79. so, we are warming up once again today. by noon, it's 83 degrees with sunshine mixing with some clouds. warming up to 86. that's your high today. we'll hit it about 3 o'clock coming down from that at 5:00

matt pelman, what do we have on the roads going on. >> i think we're pretty comfortable with what's happening on the roads this morning. 's been a bunch of overnight construction. the crews did return to the roads last night after the memorial day holiday. coming out of the burbs you're still dealing with some of it but none here on 202. they were working southbound close to 401 blocking the left lane overnight. they're doing that each night this week but as you can see the crews are here no longer so head towards the 30 bypass you're sitting pretty at this point. northbound away from exton no delays to speak of either. elsewhere in chester county don't forget that lenape road route have is going to close again today from 9:00 until 3:00 today and tomorrow it will still be shut down for that bridge work. stay down on 926 street road to get around it. we were talking yesterday about a new work zone in haverford township. manoa road closing during the mid days 9:00 until 3:00 through late august for work on the gas main so route one or eagle road are some alternates. now today joining the party in springfield township, powell road is going to shut down as well through early september

during the mid days for work on the water main. so, a you believe can long-term closures during the middays here in delco. the alternates around powell road are prospector maplewood roads. going over to moorestown some p7. g work today going to restrict locust street at park boulevard. church and third are some good alternates around that. and there was a sewer main break overnight along hartford road in mount laurel so that remains closed we're hearing through this afternoon. ark road to the east will be would be a good alternate. a crash early this morning on the a.c. expressway eastbound right by 322, the black horse pike on the off-ramp there. there luckily has been moved out of the way. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. new this morning, a western pennsylvania woman was run over by her own car. it happened in the mcdonald's drive through in western pa over the weekend. the 76-year-old woman dropped her bag of food at the window. when she bent over to pick it up she ended up falling out of her car and the vehicle rolled over her. family members are hoping for a full recovery.

also new, a former oklahoma volunteer sheriff's deputy will spend four years in prison for killing an unarmed suspect last year. 74-year-old robert bates had said that he mistook his handgun for his taser. the wealthy insurance executive was convicted of second degree manslaughter last month after the shooting an internal memo surfaced questioning bates' qualifications. some wondered if his donations to the office influenced him getting that position anyway. >> a janitor from chicago has landed a lead opera role overseas. >> ♪ keenan kyles works at our sister station wls in chicago as a janitor five nights a week. this summer he is heading to glasgow scotland to sing one of the lead roles in la boheme. the 27-year-old holds two other jobs which add up to 90 hours a week and he still finds time to practice his opera. >> it's a lot of sleepless nights and a lot of long days but it all pays off at the end

for temple university hospital. but the car sped off. they say it was probably a monte carlo and that kind of looks like one. so, they think they have found the vehicle. no word if they have found that driver. we will update this story coming up at 6 o'clock with katherine scott with these live breaking details. now police have opened an investigation into the parents of the boy who fell into the gorilla enclosure at the cincinnati zoo as outrage grows over the zoo's decision to kill the animal. they are looking into the guardian's actions the moments from the child wandered off. police say they are not going to investigate zoo operations or the decision to shoot the gorilla. that pope will come from the u.s.d.a. zoo officials have said the 400 male named harambe was agitated and their only choice was to use lethal force, not a tranquilizer.
