market frankford line. >> vice president joe biden teased that he may be leaving the door opened to another presidential run. >> let's get a lot of stuff on our plate here. let's turn to meteorologist, david murphy and karen rogers. good morning. >> got some cloud cover beginning to thicken up down to the south of philadelphia and getting up close to the city the farther north you go the better chance you have of seeing some sunshine early and then eventually we all get the clouds andfternoon. a winter weather advisory meanwhile has been posted for the poconos at 4 o'clock this afternoon. it may take that long for precipitation to get all the way up to the poconos but when it does it's going to be snow up in the mountains. word to the wise if you're traveling up in that direction later today and tonight. 39 degrees is your currents temperature in philadelphia. so we're dry but on the cold side. 27 degrees in allentown. 30 in reading. 37 in wilmington. 33 in trenton and still holding 41 in cape may. winds this morning are light. so it's cold but at least we don't have a real big wind chill to worry about. by 7 o'clock 36 degrees. there may be some sunshine still around the region in here and then by 10 o'clock

40. beginning to cloud up a little bit more. by noon 44 and then coming up from the south during the afternoon we have rain, 48 degrees is your high at 3 o'clock this afternoon and still holding a similar number by 6 o'clock, 46 degrees there. but again that rain coming in and then it stays with us overnight tonight even tomorrow morning there could be a lingering spotty shower around. i'll show you the arrival and departure of the rain on future tracker6 coming up karen. >> all right dave. we have been talking about this fire location in frankford. watch for that at frankford and also at seller street but in addition to the issue with the roads with all the emergency workers coming there it's affecting the market frankford line. they're shuttle busing and that's between the frankford transportation center and the eerie torresdale transportation center so in those two areas they're shuttle busing the rest of the shrine running but this is affecting the market frankford line and also affecting two of the best routes, five and nine, bus routes five and nine with septa also affected right now because of that big fire we've been talking talking aboun the frankford section. the trenton line reporting 16 minute delays already. everything else running on time.

the big picture showing no major issues other than that fire in frankford. blue route, schuylkill and i-95 allly in pretty good shape. let's check the vine street expressway. last time i showed you this was shut down in both directions with construction. but now we see westbound, eastbound moving okay. we are talking about rain coming a little bit later. not happening yet so you have a dry early morning commute. this is i-95 northbound at 413. construction crews out there still blocking the right lane. you can see the arrow board but they're in the process of clearing that up, tam. >> thank you, karen. and breaking right now, a tragic day for new jersey state troopers. officer frankie williams had recently joined their force and was responding to a call last night and for still unknown reasons a driver crossed the median on route 55 and ran head on into officer williams killing them both. let's go over to "action news" reporter o'neill. she's live at cooper university hospital. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning tamala. that crash is still under investigation. trooper frankie williams was just 31 years old and like you said, he had just joined the

force several months ago. well, take a look at this video. this is video from outside of cooper university hospital. camden county officers saluting trooper williams as his body was escorted away from keep university hospital where hawpe up and down short time before that. now 7 o'clock monday night trooper williams was heading to a call on route 55 in millville. according to police a man driving a toyota corolla crossed the center median hitting williams head on in his cruiser. now, the man was that pronounced dead at the scene. medics rushed williams to cooper hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors here a short time later. back out here live williams just graduated the academy in january and was assigned to the port norris station. we are told that he is also originally from atlantic county. i also want to tell you, you see police activity, that's a

separate incident not related to this one but again trooper williams dead after a head-on collision in millville. we're hoping to learn more details about that investigation later on today from new jersey state police. for now reporting live outside of cooper university hospital, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." back up to matt. >> i know you'll keep us posted. thank you annie. back to another breaking story we have and this is new information here that fire in the city's frankford section is now under control but is still leading to problems on septa's market frankford line. the action cam is live along at 4500 block of frankford avenue where firefighters are still on the scene. the flames broke out at the end of a row of businesses about an hour ago. a 21-year-old man suffered burns on his face and hands and is hospitalized. karen rogers is tracking the impact on septa and we'll have another report coming up. the recent series of drug overdoses in philadelphia is putting the spotlight on the heroin crisis in the city and the surrounding area. in fact, we have new information on an outbreak of fatal overdoses in bucks

county. falls township police say they have had 10od's in the last 10 days. the ages are between 15 and 62 and four of them died. police tell "action news" they think the heroin came from philadelphia in two of the deaths and from trenton in the two others. falls township officers add they don't look for a specific demographic because this epidemic spans the spectrum. >> seeing it across all demographics. we're seeing people coming from the higher end of society, kids, we're seeing lower class society, poor, white, black, it's everybody. >> nine people died of heroin overdoses in philadelphia this past weekend. >> it is 5:06 and new this morning another violent night in the city of philadelphia. police are now investigating a shooting where someone shot a man seven times. gunfire erupted just after midnight on the 5000 block of

mascher street in the parkside section of the city. police say the 24-year-old man was sitting in his car outside his apartment when ah the trigger man hit him with that barrage of bullets. the victim is in critical condition but he's expected to survive. police have not said what prompted this shooting. and a teenager is in critical condition after a shooting in the germantown section of philadelphia. the incident happened around 8:30 last night along the 300 block of apply street. police are now looking for a suspect an motive. >> happening today, top new jersey transit officials will testify before a state legislative committee. it couples as lawmakers continues to investigate september's deadly train crash in hoboken. one woman was killed and more than 100 people were injured. federal railroad regulators will also be on hand to talk about rail rail safety issues. >> vice president joe biden may not be ready to leave

washington just yet. after senate session yesterday biden joked with reporter whose asked if he would run for officers again and he didn't clarify with any sort of finite no. >> run again. had the rain in the morning, today it's going to be the afternoon commute that is the issue. this morning we're dry. taking a look outside, we have sky6 and there's the ben franklin bridge and there will be some sun early especially the farther north we move through the region but we are looking at the buildup in clouds this morning and then eventually this afternoon rain arriving. temperatures this morning are on the cold side. 39 degrees in philadelphia. just 27 up in allentown. and below freezing in reading and lancaster as well. 33 degrees in trenton. 37 in wilmington. 39 in millville. and still 41 in cape may. future tracker6 showing you how we cloud up during the morning and then by 1 o'clock this afternoon we'll probably start see some showers push into wildwood and over up to dover delaware. wilmington getting ready to receive that rain probably around 2 o'clock and by 3 o'clock philadelphia is likely getting wet been 5 o'clock, we're seeing that rain push all the way up past allentown. notice how it's snow up in the poconos. winter weather advisory in the poconos later this afternoon and tonight for about one to 3-inches of snow. as we go later into tonight it's still wet with off and on

rain straight through the evening commute and on into 11 o'clock tonight. cecily tynan will have something to show you. there might be some wet snowflakes trying to push down into the lehigh valley. we do think the main issue with driving will be up in the poconos but if you see some flakes up in the lehigh valley you slow it down. up in the lehigh valley today mostly cloudy with that afternoon rain arriving. 43 degrees is the high. down the shore clouds will increase as we go through the morning and into the afternoon and then that rain creeps up the coast during the afternoon hours, a high of 50 degrees along most of our coastal communities. and in philadelphia we'll go for a high of 48 this afternoon. lots of clouds building. might see some early sunshine but then it clouds up and afternoon rain is definitely arriving probably by about 3 o'clock or so in philadelphia f48 degrees is the high and i would arm the kids with some rain gear, some sort of rain resistant coat or something like that just in case they get caught on the way home. overnight cloudy skies with more rain continuing, 43 degrees is the overnight low. and then tomorrow you see some sprinkles and showers around

early at five, 6, 7 o'clock in the morning but it looks like we dry out fairly quickly and then we're dealing with clouds with eventually some sunny breaks later in the afternoon. tomorrow will be a little bit milder, too. in terms of the rain, well, it looks like it's going to be a pretty healthy dose. our p.m. model has over an inch of rain. three-quarters of an inch on the european and a little bit more than that on the north american model so a decent amount of rain but certainly not a heavy flooding rain. your exclusive accuweather 7-day cloudy skies today, 48 is the high with that afternoon rain arriving. remember, it's snow up in the poconos later today and tonight. mostly cloudy tomorrow still cool 52 degrees late sunny breaks and then mostly cloudy with a late sprinkle or shower on thursday, a high of 45. we're still looking at that colder air arriving on friday and saturday, highs in the upper 30's, friday could see a flurry. a lot of sunshine on saturday but still pretty uncomfortable and then 42 with increasing clouds on sunday and we're still looking at rain on monday and it cop start out briefly early in the morning as a little bit of wintry mix on monday.

rain later. >> rain later. >> you're looking at me like -- >> there's more? >> don't leave us hanging. not my job. >> karen won't leave you hanging when it comes to either the weather or the traffic. good morning. >> that's right. dry morning commute, the evening all bets are off. we've got a lot of rain coming our way later on this afternoon. looking outside live on route 100 we're live in exton at commerce drive. route 100 moving nicely at this point if you're coming up from phoenixville or chester springs you don't have any issues right now on route 100 so let's take another look right now and go over mass transit. we've been talking about the problems that we're having because of that big fire in the frankford section on frankford avenue and sellers and that's causing a problem this morning with the market frankford line now shuttle busing between the frankford transportation center and eerie torresdale station. causing big problems, it's shuttle busing as well. this is affecting bulls routes three and five being detoured around that area in frankford so you want to be careful if you're in that area and give yourself some extra time with

the market frankford you'll be shuttle busing. trenton line delays of 16 minutes. new accident in montgomery county on mill road at quarry hall road and we're hearing that there are injuries on the scene so you'll see emergency workers coming tots scene with this one. let's check the travel times. an easy 13 minutes on i-95, schuylkill no problems and 42 is looking good. on the commuter traffic report if you're coming in from evesham marlton, you can see cherry hill, 295 looking good. no problems on your area roads here none one reporting any issues. let's look at these temperatures. 25 in martins creek, it's 32 in warrington, 39 in center city. sitting at the freezing mark in saint davids and below there in kennett square so it's good we're starting off dry when the rain comes it will be just rain through the area as we're talking about highs in the 40's. 34 in hammonton and 39 degrees in dover. rain comes this afternoon, 48 for your high, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. new on "action news" a man in north carolina is behind bars after opening fire during a christmas parade.

police in sanford say the shooting left one 18-year-old seriously injured and a 16-year-old with an injury that is not life-threatening. the owner of the store not far from the parade route says when he looked at surveillance cameras from his store he could see a man firing shots as the float went by. the shooting forced officials to end that parade early. >> inn an ohio college student is accused of stabbing his roommate to death and another students over food. 23-year-old duncan erden how we are died yesterday effect the police arrested kendall scheib. shied is charged with assault a roommate says both of them were drunk. >> also new, a supermarket employee in reading was shot when that a customer's gun accidentally went off inside the store. police and paramedics were called to the weis market

yesterday afternoon. the customer says he was standing next a man when the man's gun fell to the floor and discharged. one of the workers was grazed by a bullet. police have not said whether any charges will be filed. sixers face the grizzlies in memphis tonight. their loss to memphis two weeks ago began with what is now a seven game losing streak. the sixers came up short against the nuggets last night. joel embiid scored 16 points and the sixers held a 10 points lead in the second quarter but wilted after halftime. the sixers lose 106-98. >> it is 5:18. turmoil in south carolina as the case against the former police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man ends in a mistrial. >> yet another study is warning children about wearing headphones, turning them up too loudly and hearing loss. >> ♪

>> let's go outside right now and check southwest philadelphia. looking good here actually on the roads as you look live on the platt bridge by i-95. no problems at this point between 26th street and i-95. if you're head to the airport you're not going have trouble on the roads right here. mass transit septa's just told us that the market frankford line is resuming service just some residual delays relate to that. trenton line 16 minutes delays. still at this point expecting detours for route three and route five bus because of the fire in frankford dave. >> dry this morning karen but cold on the bus stop. 36 degrees by 6 o'clock. 37 by 8 o'clock. dress the kids appropriately. it stays chilly. we'll get to 44 by noon and by 3 o'clock 48. that's your high. but notice how during the afternoon hours any time after about 1 o'clock down south and maybe around 3 o'clock in philadelphia, we are going to see rain riding up through the region and if you're riding up to the poconos there's going to be some snow up there after about 4 o'clock this afternoon. at the airport all green aircraft no major delays and right now no rain other than

during last night's episode of jimmy kimmel live he spoke about the other big news and other big news. he'll be hosting the oscars. as for the baby kimmel says he doesn't know the sex but he's thinking of unisex names. he likes things like dyson after the vacuum or gel tin way j thank god the wife will that probable get a veto. the couple already has a two-year-old baby girl who has the very traditional name jane. well, bob dylan will be participating in his nobel prize award ceremony after all. sort of. laureate still will not be there in person for saturday's big events in stockholm but the nobel foundation says dylan has written a speech that will be read out at the traditional banquet and that singer patti smith will perform dylan's hard rain is going to fall as a tribute to the 75-year-old. dylan won the literature prize for "having created new poetic expressions within the great american song tradition.
