karen rogers are off. let's go over to david murphy and matt pellman to look at traffic, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, everybody, it's been a rainy start and icy start in the lehigh valley. we'll talk about that in a moment. in the i-95 corridor there's a shot of heavy rain moving up out of maryland and southern chester county. northern new castle county will get hit by that. philadelphia will get hit by that. lots of ponding and puddling in through here. south jersey and delaware a bit of a break, although this band of rain will be pushing back in your direction. up north we have blue showing up, a lot of more green againing to work its -- beginning to work its way in we have a lot of green up here. in the northern tier of montgomery and bucks county and the lehigh valley be careful, because there's wet snow and freezing rain. winter weather advisories will

be expiring in the areas over the next several hours, but in the interim you have to be careful. by 6:00 a.m. they may drop the winter weather advisory in allentown, quakertown and easton. now slippery spots still possible. satellite and radar shows you cloud cover behind the rain. it does look like the last of the bands will get past philadelphia fairly quickly this morning maybe by the end of the rush hour or beyond. down the shore it will be raining longer. 39 degrees in philadelphia. allentown has improved to 33. closer to the freezing mark in reading and allentown. we're seeing improvement up to 50 in some areas in south jersey. 39 degrees by 7:00 a.m. 48 by noon. 51 is the high, dropping back to 42 by 7:00 a.m. it will get cold overnight tonight. matt pellman speaking of cold there's a major cold crush with a highs in the 20s coming up

later this week. details on that. >> reporter: you mentioned the i-95 corridor a couple of times, let's look at its name sake, this is i-95 in the great northeast through the work zone at cottman avenue. in the overnight lights you can see -- overhead lights you can see the rain continuing to fall. you have to be careful in the construction zones because drainage is not the best in the construction zones. it's moving okay southbound toward center city. speaking of construction zones there was no overnight closure on the vine, they were not scheduled to work i don't think they would have with the wet conditions. you're good to go on the vine and the schuylkill expressway. up north, there's frozen precipitation around the allentown area and the lehigh valley. there's a crash 309 southbound close to 78. as we go go south into bucks

county, the color has changed, yellows and greens indicating wet precipitation, just rain falling here. however there's a crash blocking 332 by tyler state park, upper holland or lower holland road would be ways to get around it. trenton, it's wet 195 westbound to 130 that ramp is partially blocked because of a crash on this monday morning. >> breaking overnight, a teenager is dead gunned down on a street corner in west philadelphia. police are looking for two people. scot ask -- katherine scott is e at police headquarters gathering information on the story. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, a 17-year-old boy shot and killed in west philadelphia. police are trying to determine exactly what happened, several witnesses were taken to the homicide division to be interviewed. let's go to video from the scene in west philadelphia overnight. you can see investigators were there, they had the area taped off while they gathered evidence. police and medics found the

17-year-old lying on the sidewalk after they were called after 12:15 a.m. multiple calls for gun shots had come in at 60th and market. when medics avid they saw visible wounds to his face and torso he it was pronounced at the scene. victim's last address was in north philadelphia. they were not sure what he was doing at this address. there were family members on the scene they are being interviewed. 11 shots were fired from two semi automatic weapons. witnesses say one of the shooters was a man wearing all dark clothing and mask. he was seen in a white suv-type vehicle going south on 60th street. >> fortunately at the intersections of 60th and market streets there are numerous philadelphia police real time crime cameras. one of the cameras is directly over where the victim collapsed.

>> and police say there are also surveillance cameras on several nearby businesses, they feel confident they can find footage that can help in the investigation. live at police headquarters, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. this is new on "action news," a woman is in stable condition after being stabbed multiple times in a home in north philadelphia. police were called to the 2800 block of north howard street after 1:00 a.m. that's where they found the woman who was stabbed several times. police say the victim knows the attacker. no arrests have been made. philadelphia police are looking for the three masked men who carried out a home invasion in oxford circle. it happened along the 6700 block of rutland street at 7:30 p.m. three men said the three suspects knocked on the door when they didn't answer, they went to the back of the house and broke in. one resident got home from church after the home invasion, he doesn't speak english, but

said this is not the first time this has happened. >> we got home to find a disaster and the men who were inside were terrified and told us that three people broke in. >> the three victims are shaken, but okay. >> happening today, former philadelphia congressman chaka fattah will learn how long he'll be spending in prison. 11 term democrat was convicted in june of federal racketeering and fraud. prosecutors said he repeatedly abused his power as an elected official. a federal judge in philadelphia is expected to weigh in on the recount challenge in pennsylvania. green party presidential candidate jill stein is behind the challenge. she gets that the voting machines may have been hacked, about you a computer expert for the secretary of state office said that's highly unlikely. president-elect donald

trump has scheduled a full day of interviews at trump tower. he is expected to meet with joe mansion one of few democrats up for a cabinet position. carlyrina is a trump foe. she dropped out of the race in october. bill cosby is expected to be back in the courtroom tomorrow. he is accused of drugging and sexual assaulting andrea constan. a judge ruled the testimony he gave in a civil lawsuit can be used in a criminal case. he admitted giving women drugs or alcohol before sexual encounters. a coating of snow dusted the ground in allentown last night. the winter weather in the midwest forced airlines to

cancel flights. that left travelers like this woman and her two daughters scrambling to get a new flight home out of philadelphia international. we have to get home and back to work and school. >> if you're heading to the airplane, check your flight at 1-800-phl-gate. >> at least for people coming here it's looking like rain and less like snow. >> reporter: and thinks improving up north, too. it's mainly rain across the region, some of it heavy highlighted in yellow. the blue up north beginning to change over to green that's an indication on storm tracker 6 live that we are beginning to see the change from wet snow and freezing rain to all rain in places like the lehigh valley. still probably not a bad idea to be cautious up in the northern suburbs for now, though. as we look outside, we have sky6 live hd at the airport, no major delays at the airport just yet, but keep an eye on it, for the morning, anyway we're looking at

wet conditions. let's start you off in the northern suburbs storm tracker 6 live double scan. this is a much better picture than what we showed you an you're -- hour ago, reading seeing a nice changeover here. quakertown spotty freezing rain. the warm air is in the process of sweeping past the lehigh valley. for another hour or so, be careful for possible slippery spots. the next hour and hour and a half the better conditions will be. we'll see the precipitation slide through you, by the end of the rush you're dry in the lehigh valley. up in the poconos we'll be below freezing for a while, even if you don't see precipitation lasting that much longer, the tempts will be cold enough where the roads might still give you problems with slipping and sliding. be careful up there. in philadelphia, we're looking at a fairly steady rain through

the entire city down into wilmington. here comes the next batch of steadier rain highlighted in yellow and orange. be careful with ponding and puddling in the i-95 corridor. in south jersey and delaware it's not too bad, we see a break up, but the rain to the west of us will sweep through here, it could be early afternoon before we dry out down south. as we look at temperatures, well, currently in philadelphia, 39 degrees, well above freezing, it's all rain in the i-95. winds south/southwest 8 miles per hour. future tracker 6 showing you between now and 9:00 a.m., it looks like the northern and western suburbs completely drying out and getting warmer so we shall be melting any icing on roads up in the poconos by 9:00 a.m. and before that in allentown. we might see the back edge of the rain shield leading philadelphia by the end of the rush hour. if not, it won't be long after the rush. it might linger down the shore until the early afternoon hours, later today we can't rule out thinning of the clouds, i think

i will call it mostly cloudy today and we'll concentrate on getting the rain out of here, that's the main change. 10:00 a.m., 45. noon, 48 with everybody but the shore likely dry. 3:00 p.m., 50 degrees, even if it is cloudy it's not a bad afternoon to get things done particularly with what's coming later in the week. 44 degrees by 6:00 p.m. high temperatures across the region everybody getting into the low 50s in the immediate region and then the mid to upper 40s in northern areas. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast shows a high of 51 in philadelphia today. afternoon drying, some with clouds tomorrow and high of 45. not too bad for this time. year. 44 clouds on wednesday. wednesday night there could be a snow flurry or shower around. that moisture starved system will sock us in the nose. thursday, a bitter wind and high of 26 and winds making it feel like 10 on thursday, oh, my.

by 78 pushed off to the side. lanes are open. it's an improving situation around allentown this morning. chester county sounds like fire crews left the scene of the utility pole fire along harmonyville road. brandywine township there's a crash along 422 horseshoe pike. 322 crash in newtown. we lost our crash new mercer county cleared out from the after 195 westbound to 130. that ramp is completely reopened. nydia. >> new on "action news," snow conditions may have been a factor of a plane skidding off the runway in detroit. the plane went off the runway after a slow rate of speed after landing. it was stuck in snow and mud. dozens of passengers were

escorted off the plane's back entrance. nobody was injured, but the plane was stuck for ours as they worked to tow it from the area. airport officials are investigating the incident. a guilty verdict in the shooting of death of former nfl star will smith. overnight the jury convicted haze of multiple charges including manslaughter. he shot the former saints player during a traffic dispute. his wife was shot, but she recovered. haze argued he fired in self-defense. he faces up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced in february. today marks 6 months since the shooting massacre at the pulse nightclub in orlando. those with a direct connection gathered for a moment of silence at the exact time the gunman opened fire. it left 300 people dead and injured 50 other people. a larger more public event is
