>> good morning everyone, it is 6:00 a.m., monday, december 26. tam is off, alicia vitarelli joins us. >> new this morning, a gunman out for revenge shoots a 52-year-old man in philadelphia. >> the return blitz is about to begin. stores are reopening to take back holiday gifts and ring the register for new sales. >> winter storms causing travel headaches out west, we're tracking possible freezing rain. >> karen rogers is in for david and matt pellman has traffic. >> reporter: the national weather service has the freezing rain advisory from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the poconos until 4:00 p.m. because of the potential for slippery travel as you head out. it's cloudy and missy, we're watching for the chance of drizzle. it hadn't happened just yet. 29 in quakertown and pottstown. 30 in coatsville, 32 degrees in

saint davids, 36 degrees in center city. in new jersey, it's 33 in browns mills, hammonton. 38 degrees in dover. misty out here with lots of clouds. satellite and radar showing clouds in place. the showers are out to the west. we can see a touch of drizzle certainly mist at any point. that's why it could be slippery in the north and west. 7:00 a.m. in the city, 38 degrees. 10:00 a.m., 44. could be freezing drizzle in the far northwest suburbs. lots of clouds. 1:00 p.m., 45. 4:00 p.m., 46. the testers keep going up. -- temperatures keep going up. 48. we hit a high of 50 today, that doesn't happen until after sunset. you want to be dressed appropriately when you head out now it's kind of chilly. matt when i come inside i'll give you the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast and warm up a bit.

>> reporter: we're watching the north an west suburbs for the potential freezing drizzle. as we go west to king of prussia, it's dry along the schuylkill expressway by 202. of course, lots of people will be return to the malls today to make returns. we'll see people heading to the king of prussia which opens this morning at 8:00 a.m. or maybe, if you're going to head to the willow grove park mall that opens at 7:00 a.m., just an hour from now. now there's a crash close by at fitzwater town and moreland road by the luk oil station. no issues on the boulevard or i-95. off i-95 they have not patched the water main break in queen village. southbound side of columbus boulevard at queen street, the one lane is open. one southbound lane and the ramps off i-95 are open. with light volume you can get by without too much of a problem so far on this monday. >> a camouflaged gunman shot a

man and left him in critical condition police believe it was in retaliation. the 52-year-old victim was hit several times in the arm and torso. police say he was taken to temple hospital by private call and explain what they know about the earlier incident. >> we're getting information from several witnesses that this 52-year-old victim family members of his were involved in earlier fight in the neighborhood. >> police are interviewing witnesses and they looking at surveillance video in the area to can help identify the gunman. let's turn to a tradition that kind of become deja vu for some people. holiday gift returns, malls are opening early to take it all back or grab markdowns after

christmas. annie mccormick is at the mall in southwest philadelphia which just opened its doors. >> you will all the people who were heading in this morning, were waiting in their cars because it's cold out this morning. there's a handful of people that walked into the walmart that opened at 6:00 a.m. many of the walmarts in the area and many jc pennies are opening. this is video fromuple of weekss hitting the stores. reachers tracking the shopping trends are seeing a dip in the sales. many tracking shoppers since christmas fell on a sunday. 20% of returns happen during the holiday season, $06 billion in merchandise. gift cards make up a huge part of sales, but researchers can't track them until they are reseemed. expect that to start happening -- redeemed. expect that to start happening today. there are websites that offer to buy and sell them, you don't get the full value or donate them to a charity church or school.

today or you have a flight of your own to catch. looks like things are moving smoothly at philadelphia, the only city across the country experiencing major delays, tioga midway, 27 cancellations. call 1-800-phl-gate. >> just what sparked an apartment fire in montgomery county. a woman out from a walk may have presented it from becoming a christmas day tragedy. kevin kerry tooked -- took the video of the smoke coming from the apartment yesterday afternoon. the people living upstairs were not home. but a couple of and their daughter were living in a separate unit downs, they did not know about the blaze until a woman walking by saw the fire and called 911. firefighters got there and removed the family. we spoke to the woman who placed the phone call.

>> reporter: did they know that the house was on fire. >> it is an apartment upstairs. it was scary. >> lucky to have her walking by. the second floor sustained smoke and water damage, but nobody was there at the time. if you ride a motorcycle in delaware you could be required to wear a helmet. the state legislature will consider a bill in the new year. it is compared to the seat belt law and calls it common sense. right now you're only required to carry a helmet on a motorcycle in delaware, only those under 19 and younger are required to wear it. >> reporter: if you're going to carry it, put it on your head, you would be protected. storm tracker 6 live double scan around the area, we're dry right now, but we're watching for the chance of freezing drizzle. it's ms.y out there right now. -- misty out there right now.

let's go outside and see when it looks like. we're looking good, lots of cloud cover up above. as we look live near city hall. 36 degrees, the dewpoint 26. a bit of moisture. the pressure is rising. the winds are out of the east/northeast, they will switch to a southerly flow and the temperatures will jump up later on today. satellite and radar clouds and showers to the west, we have a warm front that will sneak through. at any point we could see a little bit of drizzle or shower here or there. for the most part it's dry and we're feeling camp with the clouds. the concern is with the freezing, you could get freezing drizzle north and west. we have a cold front out to the west, this sneaks through tomorrow and we'll get rain in the early morning hours. lots of clouds today, feeling damp at times without a lot of precipitation, 7:00 a.m., 38.

week, but especially this morning. we're getting word of a new crash in land daily, vine street ironically by the police department. on the big picture, no crashes on the schuylkill expressway or the boulevard on i-95 no delays, either. columbus boulevard southbound just one lane getting by because of the water main break from a week ago. in delaware so far so good on going long term construction you one of the ramps in newport, christiana mall is opening early down there. 42 moving fine in both directions heading southbound toward the gloucester premium outlets opening at 8:00 a.m. >> a man is in custody after police say he opened fire at a packed nightclub in suburban new york. the suspect had been kicked out of the club in mount vernon west chester county.
