at a slightly rainy accuweather forecast and matt pelman has your traffic. good morning. >> it's a dreary day today. we'll have periods of rain all day but the morning concern is for freezing rain. the national weather service has this freezing rain advisory listed for lehigh berks northampton counties and that's until 10 o'clock in the morning but up in the poconos it doesn't expire until 7 o'clock tonight. and that's because of icy spots in the area. satellite6 and action radar showing at this point we just have some light showers moving in. the heavier rain is going to come in later today. but let's go right to double scan because we can see you have to go northwest of reading at this pointer to see any of the icing. that's the area of plow that wblue thatwe get. but the concern is as temperatures drop in the lehigh valley and as we can see these showers move in, we may see more icing spots a bit widespread so watching for there up in the lehigh valley and the poconos. but we can see we have some showers down in south jersey right now. those roads are going to be a little bit more wet in millville n-salem and temperatures well above

freezing so it is going to be just wet everywhere else except for the lehigh valley and the poconos. forty four pottstown. we expect these temperatures to dip just a little bit more and that's why we could see some freezing rain there but it was 39 in the city, it's 36 in hammonton, 38 in dover, delaware. milder air moving in but it's a dreary day with periods of rain. the heaviest looks to be in the afternoon and evening. the high today of 45 degrees. i'll show you when this rain really hits us in future tracker6 with that seven-day forecast in just a couple minutes, matt. >> we're wary of that precipitation far to the north and west this morning, karen, but for now it's dry as a bone here in center city along the vine street expressway. and there was no overnight construction closure so you're good to go as you cross town on the vine. headed tout 95 there was overnight construction here close to the betsy ross bridge in both directions but the crews have cleared out so all lanes are opened and ready for you along 95. no big issues so far along the roosevelt boulevard, schuylkill expressway or i476, the blue route but on 476 the northeast extension a car ran

out of gas on the northbound side about 2 miles approaching the lansdale interchange so he's in the right lane coming northbound of mid-county watch out for that dv in the right lane on the northeast extension. on the east west turnpike westbound in bucks county there's still some construction taking out the left lane between delaware valley and bensalem as you come in from new jersey. also had extra overnight work in delaware along 95 and some of the ramps that connect it with 141 but those crews cleared out. ing over is opened for you in the first state and ready along 95, 495, 295 and route one and we're back to normal schedules today across-the-board on mass transit. had some abnormalities yesterday because of the mlk holiday but so far this morning back to normal and on time on this tuesday. tam and nydia. >> all right, thank you, matt. breaking this morning a fight between a manager and a guard had been simmering for awhile at a germantown bar. overnight it erupted with

deadly results. katherine scott is lie at police headquarters with more on the investigation. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, police say that fight between the bar manager and the security guard had been simmering and last night it just spilled over. now the bar manager is dead and the security guard is here at police headquarters being interviewed by homicide detectives. let's go to video from last night in germantown. it happened at sharon's little spot on the 5600 block of boyer street. this happened just before 11:00 p.m. in a back room of the bar. the room is for employees. there are no security cameras in there. both men were working at the time. the 44-year-old bar manager and the 28-year-old armed uniformed security guard. police say a verbal altercation escalated and then turned physical. the guard told police the bar manager came at him with a bottle and hit him on the head. then the guard opened fire he says shooting the bar manager three times. police say he was shot twice in his torso, once in the leg. he was conscious and talking

when police and medics arrived but the bar manager was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:22 p.m. >> we're not certain at this time what the argument and the altercation was about but that 28-year-old security guard is in police custody. >> reporter: and that's that security guard did remain on the scene until police arrived and then again, he was taken here to police headquarters to be interviewed. also taken here to be interviewed was a customer and a bartender who were at the bar at the time. we're live at police headquarters, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> all right, katherine thank you for that. also developing police are investigating a shooting outside a bar and restaurant in southwest philadelphia. the action cam was outside the blue nile falls on the 700 block of south 52nd street. investigators say a 33-year-old man was hit and wounded a couple of times late last night. he is in stable condition this morning. >> three philadelphia congressmen are joining the long list of democrats boycotting the inauguration of

president-elect donald trump. democrats bob brady dwight evans and brendan boyle are not going to the swearing in on friday. that makes 35 democrats in congress not attending. they are upset over several things including trump's tweets criticizing democratic congressman and civil rights icon john lewis. those tweets started after lewis said trump is an illegitimate president-electd with help from russia. >> whether john lewis started it or not mr. trump should have said let's talk, you know, let me listen to you, what are your issues. >> my advice would be to president-elect trump put away the tweets. i understand that we're all adults, we got to work together to make a difference. >> new jersey congressman donald norcross and delaware senator christian coons are planning to attend the inauguration. stay with "action news" for continuing coverage of the inauguration. our live reports begin tomorrow. anchors brian taff and sharrie williams will bring you all the happenings in washington, d.c. leading up to and including the big event.

>> it is now 5:06 and new this morning, a judge is ordering penn state's former president to refile his defamation lawsuit. the order is related to graham spaniard's suit against former fbi director louie freeh. spaniard accuses freeh's of making him a scapegoat for how penn state handled the jerry sandusky child sexual abuse scandal. the judge said spaniard's suit has too much filler and needs to be refiled with just the core argument about how he was defamed by freeh. spaniard is also facing criminal charges. >> osha investigating the death of a worker killed on the job in bensalem. chopper6 was over the scene yesterday at samuel goss seen sons a steel fabricator on state road. the 57-year-old welder was working alone when a steel beam fell on him. other workers found his body. officials have not yet released the man's name. philadelphia police and firefighters rescued a man from the schuylkill river. the incident happened at the falls bridge in east falls

section of the city. the man was spotted hanging onto a piece of wood under the bridge. police have not yet said how the man got stuck. >> all right. well, yesterday was a nice day for the middle of january. today not so bad but we'll have to deal with a little bit of rain. karen will more on that. >> periods of rain not a loot through the morning hours. i'm want to show you right now storstorm tracker6 live double scan right now showing us that we have some rain especially down to the south but it's areas to the northwest that pose the greatest concern and that's because we're watching for the potential for some freezing rain. here you're looking at areas right now down to the south but as we go in a little tighter to the northwest communities in there the area where we may see a little bit of freezing rain and we're watching for that in there lehigh valley. currently near allentown and reading it's still above freezing. you have to look well out to the north and west, near hamburg and pottsville to get any of that freezing rain. let's take a look outside right now and show you what it looks like as sky6 goes outside live went check our current conditions.

down the shore and it's a wet one out there right now. it will continue to be wet on and off through the day. 39 degrees the current temperature. the dewpoint is 30t pressure is falling. the winds are calm and the ocean temperature is 40. we do have the concern for freezing rain in the lehigh valley and the poconos until about 10 o'clock this morning in the lehigh valley but all day through the evening hours until 7 o'clock tonight for the poconos. we're not expecting a lot of that but the concern is that we've got the freezing temperatures just near the surface. warmer air up to about 2000, 3,000 feet and that's why we have the concern that once the rain comes down it's going to stick to the frozen surfaces and create kind of an icy glaze out there. not going to happen in philadelphia or south jersey 'cause those temperatures already above freezing. satellite6 and action radar showing some light showers moving in but the heavier rain is just at our doorstep out to the west and that's going work its way through the region and periods of rain today and i want to show you what future tracker6 looks like. this model showing at 6 o'clock in the morning, the area of blue, some freezing

rain in the lehigh valley. we advance this until 1:30 in the afternoon. looks like that's when we start to get some more significant rain, just might be a little damp through the morning hours but in the afternoon hours it starts to pick up. look what happens at 4 o'clock when some of the kids are coming home from school, some people commuting through the afternoon and evening. that's when it looks like the heaviest slug of rain really moves through so periods of rain through the day, even at 10 o'clock tonight looks like we'll get our last batch of rain. here's wait looks like hour by hour. at 8:00 a.m., it's 39 but it should be sitting right around the freezing mark in the lehigh valley. at 10 o'clock, 43. just a little damp. it's later in the afternoon, i'd say after 12 o'clock when you get that heaviest rain moving through so it's really raining pretty good at 3 o'clock, 45 degrees. and some showers around still at 6 o'clock, 44. kind of a dreary day today. tomorrow we dry things out a little bit. it gets windy. northwest wind around that area high pressure gusting 12 to 20 miles an hour. but it's a drier wind as well. not a lot of sunshine, though. it looks kind of damp and dreary over much of the seven

the day of service but they'll be up and at 'em this morning. how does it look. >> didn't stop up from having traffic troubles yesterday. so far tam and nydia coming out of the bushes lookin burbs g good. overnight construction that gave us a southbound closure cleared out of the way but crews return tonight at 9 o'clock. they're working on the overpass at oxford valley road that was damaged in the truck accident back in 2015. isn't it crazy to say back in 2015. yeah, near 2017 now but that's why we're having those overnight closures along route one the super highway. closures out there no longer at this point. headed toward route one on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound there's some construction still going on. one lane out of commission as you come into new jersey but no delays at this point. that was where we had the big problems yesterday morning with the big truck accident. happened around 6 o'clock. we also had a broken down vehicle this morning along the northeast extension northbound approaching lance day.

day. lance day. the next couple days in hatboro installing new gas main along warminster road so from 9:00 until 3:00 i would avoid that. jacksonville road or 263 york road would be some alternates. also have more work today and actually each day this week here in west goshen chester county along 100. installing a gas main here so phoenixville pike i think would be a better bet and in nether providence more work on the water main will close wallingford avenue during the mid days. possum hollow and woodward road possible alternates. the commuter report in delaware along 295 and south coming off the delaware memorial bridge watch out there's a pothole as you head toward 95. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. overnight turkey confirmed that a man wanted for a attack in a nightclub on new year's eve is under arrest then say he's confessed. police say his fingerprints matched those lifted from the crime scene in turkey on new year's day. the man is uzbeky national and

authorities say they think he may be part of an isis cell. 39 people died in that attack. a delaware man joseph rock survived it. >> app grandfather forced to subdue a suspected kidnapper. police in northern california say lindsay frazier attempted to kidnap a child who was with her grandfather. >> miss frazier approached one of the children called her by a different name if i remember right and tried to take her. >> frazier allegedly wrapped her arms around the girl but the child's grandfather pulled her to safety and kept frazier there until police arrived. frazier is charged with attempted kidnapping. police say she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol but may undergo a mental health evaluation. >> new this morning, our sister network espn is reporting that three university of oregon football players are now in the hospital. the school is not confirming why or saying more about the players' status but a newspaper report says their conditions are connected to

>> new on "action news" a montana woman was enjoying a normal evening at home when she heard a loud crash. what was that? a massive icicle had that crashed through her ceiling. her furnace exhaust pipe had come loose after she had the roof of the house repaired in the summer. the pipe was spraying steam freezing just as fast as it was dripping from the trusses. the woman says she's glad the giant icicle didn't fall on top of her and i would imagine the people who did that furnace repair will be getting a call this morning. >> oh, yeah. >> can you imagine that happening in your house. >> no, i cannot. >> no thank you. outside this morning still dry along the roosevelt boulevard extension here in east falls. traffic is moving fine. do watch out for some midday

construction here especially on the southbound side headed toward the schuylkill today, 9:00 until 3:00 you could see some delays because of restrictions. just getting word of a surprise opening at the burlington bristol bridge, bbb, up right now for a northbound ship so if you're headed out right this moment i would head for the turnpike connector bridge instead and we're back to normal today on mass transit. getting word of one issue with the airport line, train 405 it's originating from fern rock. otherwise we're on time, karen. >> roads are going to be damp out there for the most part. we are seeing a shower near route 100 and quakertown. if you're north of i-78 right now we have patches of blue, a little bit of freezing rain as you're traveling near pottsville and hamburg but so far in reading and allentown not seeing that happen just yet. we do however have some rain down to the south so as you're traveling down in south jersey you're dealing with that -- some of that as well so watch for those wet roads along route 55 right now in millville, new jersey, temperatures well above freezing. in delaware, it's wet as well

as you're traveling in. hasn't quite hit wilmington yet. here's a look at the temperature profile. sitting at the freezing mark in mount pocono. still 36 degrees in allentown. so, we do have a freezing rain advisory but temperatures still well above freezing. i think you'll be okay. 39 in philadelphia. 39 in cape may. headed up to 45 with periods of rain. nydia and tam. >> all right, karen, thank you. on health check this morning, a strain of drug resistant super bugs may be spreading more widely than previously thought. that's according to a study published yesterday in the proceedings of the national academy of sciences. the super bug is known as cre and it tends to spread in hospitals and long term care facilities. the study suggests cre generally spreads from that patient to patient without signs or symptoms. researchers say hand washing and the cleaning of medical equipment can help stop the super bug. >> in this morning's "gma" first look, noor salman the widow of alleged pulse nightclub shooter omar mateen preparing to appear from a judge accused of helping her husband carry out his
