who cross state line to work are waking up to welcome news, the turnpike bridge is open ahead of schedule. >> we help you spring forward, get it, get it, for the flower show. i didn't write it, but i read it. >> reporter: we have the great producers doing that great writing, you guys do a lot of it actually. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing there is snow and it continues to move toward allentown, we're close to i-78 picking up the snowflakes around allentown. it will start out as rain briefly and change over. in reading the rain is about to overtake you. the colder air is available there to change that over to snow, the snow line will be coming farther and farther south. we'll have rain around wilmington and points south and west. later the cool air comes
together it will change over to snow. there's a winter weather advisory from noon until 2:00 p.m. it's up across the region, we're keeping it in play a little longer, because the snow is slower to arrive. it may be a little slower to leave, the bulk of it anyway. the farther north you go, the better chance you have slushy and slick roads and sidewalks, as well. in philadelphia, it's wet roads from this with a small accumulation on the grass. you have to move farther and farther north through the advisory areas to get the widespread problems. nonetheless be careful in the advisory counties as the snow gets heavier. we're setting the table for wet roads in allentown and reading. temperatures in the upper 30s that's why you have rain at the out set there. philadelphia, 43. we expect the temperatures to be closer to the freezing mark and in some cases below freezing.
we may see roads slush up a little. 3:00 p.m., 41 degrees, in philadelphia, we maintain above freezing temperatures until 7:00 p.m. tonight. again, most of the snow in the morning and early afternoon. after that a spotty snow squall possible. i'll track that on future tracker 6. karen, for now, most roads are dry. as david showed us in the i-95 corridor. i-95 at cottman, dry, testers above freezing, no problems heading out. looks like we have a couple of hours between 7:00 and 8:00 we see the snow in the city you're good to go. you're rejoicing if you want to take the pennsylvania turnpike connector bridge it is open. this is great news for anyone traveling i-95 and route 1. we'll see major changes there, that's good news. i-95 eastbound traffic heading
toward center city. we have an accident in wyncote at rices mill road at church road. upper darby an accident cleared at long lane. an issue 202 and baltimore pike, if you're heading there you can see them directing traffic. baltimore pike southbound is blocked, you can stick to 202 instead. matt and tam. >> now it's time to turn to "action news" reporter, annie mccormick live in allentown, lehigh county where we are starting to see a few flakes. >> reporter: good morning, tam, we're waiting and ready, nick is panning over this is a camera light we use to light the background in the dark. you can see the flurries coming down. i can tell you it is significantly colder than what we arrived here, about two hours ago. on our way up from bala cynwyd we started to see signs that everybody was getting prepared for any type of wintry mix. we were on the pennsylvania
turnpike two miles before quakertown we started to see the plow trucks that were parked and ready to go. and then when we got on 309 we started to see roads pretreated up around that area, they were brined and what not. here in allentown, we're by the major intersections cedar crest boulevard and hamilton boulevard that's where we saw salt trucks laying down salt there. that was about an hour ago. now we're on lehigh street we're seeing traffic moving smoothly. there are parts here that were pretreated. we're seeing eager people circling around, the people driving plow trucks hoping to make extra bucks today. we caught up with one guy, here's what he had to say. >> i woke up at 2:30 a.m. to be in for 3:00 a.m. we're hoping to get a lot of snow. i hope so, at least. we're hoping for it to come down and take care of properties right now.
>> reporter: some people griping that are pulling back out the heavy coats and the hats, some people crossing their fingers they can get as much as we can get before the wintertime is over. in allentown, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." back to you. >> we have good news for you, annie, if you need someone to do a donut run or coffee run, mobile 6 is nearby traveling on the northeast extension a few minutes away from allentown. a few minutes ago we saw snowflakes after it left the lehigh tunnel going southbound on 476. now it looks like it has changed over to rain, that's the area we're seeing the mix with the wintry system. driving between pennsylvania and new jersey became a lot easier overnight. katherine scott is live in bristol where the commuters are enjoying the delaware river turnpike bridge again, right, katherine? >> reporter: that's right, matt, drivers are so relieved. this is a huge inconvenience for folks. now, it's back open and they can
get their commute times closer to normal. the bridge which connects the new jersey turnpike and the tea burn tyke was -- pennsylvania turnpike was abruptly closed when a cracked steel truss was discovered on the pennsylvania side. 42,000 vehicles cross the bridge everyday, drivers had to find another way many adding time to the commute in the process. last night the eastbound lanes opened at 10:00 p.m. and westbound lanes opened at 10:45 p.m. earlier this week, workers ran a series of load tests to see if the repairs worked. 8 dump truck also -- dump trucks carrying 40 tons went across the ridge and the sensors showed the bridge can support live traffic. >> we are very fortunate that everything seems to be going our
way a, things that typically go wrong in construction even the little things, they just, i don't know i guess you could say the bridge gods were on our side this time. >> reporter: indeed, well, last week, officials estimated it would be another month before the bridge opened and of course the opened last night ahead of schedule and everybody is happy about it this morning. live in bristol, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." tam. >> thank you katherine. new this morning, an incident at a montgomery county community ice rink sent one person to the hospital. chopper 6 hd was over the arena last night. here's what we know, hatfield police responded to the ric. they rink. they have not commented on what they found or the condition of the person in the hospital. 5:38, a hail of bullets moved into a moving car that wounded two men inside. the vehicle crashed into an
apartment building at 9th and butler around 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon in the philadelphia hunting park section. the driver and passenger were shot several times. the victims were two men in their 20s are in critical condition. police don't know what sparked the shooting, but they are looking for a silver ford caught on camera fleeing the scene. time for accuweather, the snow/rain line is hovering around the lehigh valley right now? >> reporter: yes, it is starting out as rain and we'll show you why. we have snow to the north and rain to the west and northwest of us. as we go in on the two dimensional view, you can see allentown is getting closer to the precipitation. yes it might be a little bit of rain at the outset. it looks like it will change over to snow. i know annie mccormick has been waiting patiently for this to come in, doesn't look like she'll have to wait too much
longer. reading mainly with rain arc pocket of frozen precipitation trying to bubble up there, as well. let me give you another lapse on this. temperatures in allentown are mild in the upper 30s. as the snow comes in, it will drop. we'll see slushiness develop over the neck couple of hours in allentown. in wilmington, it's raining. the snow line is dropping through philadelphia as we go through the morning commute. stepping outside, we have sky6 live hd, dry conditions here. someone tweeted me, they are flying is there going to be a delay at the airport. i doubt it, visibility might be an issue, on the surface, everything will melt on the pavement. it will not be a day they do any plowing at the airport. 43 is the temperature. winds out of the east at 14 miles per hour. we're not setting the table for frozen roads because it was so
mild yesterday and mild this morning. we have snow pushing past allentown and the northern suburbs. we get into the morning rush and up to 10:00 a.m. looks like the snow line is down in millville. we're looking at pockets of heavy snow falling at times in through the immediate region. it lightens up by lunchtime, but a change in the projections of the storm, the arrival is a little later and the departure looks later. by 1:00 we might be seeing the bulk of it. allentown might be seeing something. after 2:00 p.m. through the afternoon it's a spotty precipitation pattern. occasionally you might get a snow squall which is a burst of snow that reduces visibility temporarily. by 10:00, 10:30 a.m. this is all gone. wet roads across the region, the farther north you go bucks, lehigh valley, poconos the better chance you have of slick road conditions developing.
from philadelphia south, 1 to 3 on the grass, with slick roads conditions possible. a better chance from allentown up through the poconos seeing that compromised road condition in spots. in philadelphia, though, the temperatures are above freezing all the way. again it's just wet roads close to i-95. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, today's high, 41. periods of snow the bulk of it in the morning and afternoon with brief snow squalls after that into the early evening hours, the farther north you go be careful of slick road conditions. the roads will maintain wet conditions. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, brisk and cold, 33. winds kicking around. windchills around zero in the morning, and teens and 20s in the afternoon. up to 20 actually. that's a cold day. set your clock forward on saturday night, and sunday, cold, not as bitter, but high of 36 and winter gear is important on sunday.
then we get into monday night and tuesday, that's the next issue. there's a chance of snow. it does look like it would be a nor'easter if it happens. the question is how dozens is the storm how close to the coast is it? a lot of details to hammer out, i would keep tuesday in mind where we could be looking at snow. >> tourists got a show while on the hollywood walk of fame. the police chase went past onlookers, the driver even waved to them. >> gone with the wind, a strong gust sends a 4-year-old airborne. >> reporter: poor little thing. this is the blue route, traffic is moving fine, you're dry and clear. not that far off there's rain developing. we'll talk about that and the roads and a couple of accidents when we come right back. we didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to tie that space together.

there's a few flurries right there. >> reporter: there's just a few out there, right now. we're live in new jersey, 295 at 130, traffic is moving fine we're clear adrien, we have a couple of early morning accidents one wyncote rices mill road at church road. let's check the boulevard, southbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill expressway, very light volume, no precipitation in the i-95 corridor. we're not expecting it for a little bit longer here, 7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m. broad run road we have an issue with a downed tree stick to glendale as the alternate for that one. storm tracker 6 live double scan, one thing we're noticing is how the areas of rain is spreading before the snow. as we go in closer in allentown we had mixed precipitation, starting to be taken over by snow at the doorstep. 309 kutztown, 322 it's snowing there. we're getting snow on route 100
pottstown and allentown. the first flurries, pottstown is wet on 422 near reading getting wet here, as well. wilmington, we have rain along 295. light showers in gibbs town and woodbury, as well. 35 above freezing in quakertown and pottstown. we're in the 40s in the i-95. any snow showers we get it will melt on the roads. in new jersey, all temperatures at this point in the 40s. >> a high speed pursuit in southern california came to a dramatic end along the hollywood walk of fame. the pursuit came to a crawl on the boulevard, drawing a crowd of onlookers and a group of police swarmed the car and pulled out the driver and arrested him. a little girl near cleveland, ohio was blown away watch. 4-year-old madison gardener goes swinging over the porch on

allentown, look at that, big fat flakes coming down. 5:57 a.m. 43 degrees,. >> we're hearing from the lawyer of the family of a little girl who was pushed down the stairs at a delaware county day care center at the child care of the future center a week ago. police arrested 52-year-old sara gable who was fired from the job. the incident deeply affected the child. >> the little girl who liked going to school she was filled with smiles, promise and innocence, and coming home that day, her parents didn't get their little girl back. >> the center said gable was hired back in june and had expensive experience in child care and no record of misconduct. >> that video is so hard to watch. >> 3557.
