5:00 a.m., monday, march 13 here's what's happening. right now we're in the cold before the storm as the delaware valley gets ready for a major snowfall the latest on the track and the snowfall amounts. >> a deadly fire in central pennsylvania is renewing fears of the dangers of exploding hover board. >> the power is back on peco worked on repairs to the substation that caught fire last week. >> david is off, karen rogers is here, and matt pellman. >> reporter: we have a dry day today, the winter storm warning goes into effect at 8:00 p.m. tonight. it lasts until 4:00 p.m., tuesday, the height of the storm, early morning, through the afternoon hours tomorrow, this is a big storm, a winter storm warning in effect for most of the region now. let's look at what to expect, starting with the temperatures, these are key because the arctic air is in place.

it is 6 in the poconos, 19 in allentown, 20 in reading, 24 in philadelphia, and cape may, currently. let's look at satellite and radar, nothing happening just yet, we're dry and clear and quiet. you can see the clouds starting to build from the west. we'll start with sunshine and increasing clouds. 7:00 a.m., 23, lunchtime, 29 degrees, at 3:00 p.m. we're above freezing with sunshine and clouds starts to cloudy up at 5:00 p.m., mostly cloudy at 7:00 p.m. dipping down to 33 degrees, the storm comes later on tonight. around midnight we'll see the first flakes. here's what to expect with the major nor'easter moving in overnight tonight. heavy, wet snow, that means tree limbs down and power outages possible. strong accumulations north of i-95. the strong winds and coastal flooding is concerns for the shore. 45 to 50-mile an hour wind gusts along the coast even through the i-95 corridor we're talking 40

pretreat the roads. you will see penndot crews at the salt yard in south philadelphia where there are piles of salt at the read. today penndot crews will be across the area brining the roads, a late season snowstorm fast approaching. the city of philadelphia is making their own preparations. they began sunday with limited brining and today will convert their sanitation trucks for plowing once trash collections are complete. the streets department are planning on full deployment, 50,000 tons of salt available to them. crews will switch from salting and plowing snow once the snow accumulates. this north philadelphia shop rite was bustling with customers doing their prestorm stockup. it took 8 stores to find rock salt. >> i'm not going to complain too much, because the winter was not too bad, i'm not looking

firefighter who died on the way to a fire, he was on the way to the station to grab his gear when he was hit by a car. he was trying to make his way to are a home in harrisburg friday night. it is believed the flames came from a hover board that sparked up. >> they heard sizzling and cracking in the hover board and shortly thereafter it exploded in flames. >> a 3-year-old was killed. firefighters rescued four other people including two other children. a massive recall is underway for 500,000 hover boards made by ten companies. a fire destroyed a bowling alley in new castle county. this was the scene at pick creek boalg -- bowling links. the action cam was there as the wall collapsed during the three-alarm fire. firefighters are on the scene trying to understand why the

we'll bring in the warmer air from the ocean that will add sleet to the mix. satellite and radar we'll start with clear skies, we see the clouds are buildings. we have two areas of low pressure, one to the northwest, one to the southwest, as this moves across the country it will die out and give us energy to the coastal storm. that will form our nor'easter. 8:00 a.m., it's sunny and 23. 26 at 10:00 a.m. with sunshine, more clouds fill in as the storm system draws near, noon, 29, 34 degrees at 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m., 36 degrees, the sun doesn't set until after 7:00 p.m. future tracker 6 showing at 11:30 p.m. we'll see the first flakes fall. you will see the snow pulling in from the south and west. we advance this to 4:00 a.m. we'll be on the air early. we'll see the rain/snow line.

we'll see rain down the shore, it comes close to the city, the more mixing with sleet to the city, the less numbers in snow you'll get in the in the lehigh valley it's all snow. in south jersey 9:30 we're seeing rain washing away the early snowfall. sleet near the city. the whole system pulls out at 4:00 p.m. it is pulling out with snow showers left. late monday late tonight close to midnight you'll see the first flakes. dawn to midday tuesday that's the heaviest snow. always the strongest wind. tuesday afternoon, the snow tapers off. that's the timeline. how much to expect, maybe an inch to two in wildwood, 2 to 4 in millville. atlantic city you'll get snow, the rain washes it away, 4 to 8 inches in burlington gloucester and camden county.
