beverage tax. a soft drink giant is pulling its product off shelves. >> yesterday was great. kids were in short sleeves. that will not be the case today says dave murphy. >> it's weird. as you step outside right now it's still a little on the mild side. temperatures are dropping in a hurry this morning, though. you see clouds down to the south. there are showers. those are clearing cape may county and southern delaware pretty quickly. out to the west the additional clouds you see will probably largely fall apart. still sitting at 48 degrees in philadelphia but notice that wind out of the northwest knocking down those temperatures in the northern and western suburbs. and this number is not indicative of today at all as we are going to be down close to the freezing mark over the next couple hours and then only bouncing back into the upper 30's. the winds picking up a little bit now in allentown, reading and lancaster. again those winds are going to start to build and along with temperatures. here's where the numbers are going to go. by 7 o'clock most of the models are indicating that believe it or not we could be down as low as 34 degrees by 7 o'clock. by noon still 36 so that cold air coming in on that

northwest building wind through the morning hours and really settling in. by 3 o'clock, we'll only get back to a high of 39 degrees and then back below freezing by 7 o'clock. again, blustery today. winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour and obviously a lot colder than yesterday despite the mild start we've got right now. karen, we'll have details on how long this chillier air hangs around in the seven-day. >> all right, dave. as you're heading out everybody this morning not a bad start to the day. the roads are clear and dry. the construction is cleared here on woodhaven road approaching route 13. we see a truck just kind of paused in the gore point there but not causing any issues at the moment. and on the big picture you can see no big accidents. blue route, schuylkill, i-95 in pretty good shape. we had a disabled truck over here in south philadelphia, 26th street at penrose avenue right off of the platt bridge but it has cleared so traffic a moving better. also in center city don't forget walnut street will close today between broad and 17th from one ooh. :to 7:00. in that area stick to spruce

street. downed tree downed wires in whitemarsh near militia road. look for this in montgomery county. peco is on scene. stick to sheaff lane or joshua road o ask the in atlantic county. expect slowing because they're blocking the left lane on the atlantic city expressway westbound approaching route 50. >> okay, thank you, karen. today philadelphia district attorney seth williams will have a very different courtroom experience. he won't be there to prosecute others, we'll be there as a defendant himself facing 23 charges for alleged bribery and extortion. he's accused of accepting more than $100,000 in gifts. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live now outside of the federal courtroom with all the details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and these charges come after two-year inestigation. this afternnladelphia district attorney seth williams is expected to appear in federal court to be arraigned on extortion fraud and bribery charges.

district attorney sh williams philadelphia's top prosecutor faces 23 federal charges. the indictment alleges he sought thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange federal authorities say he would make himself available to take official action. >> it's distressing to imagine a servant who could put quid pro quo ahead of justice for all eight. last month williams announced he would not run for a third term. according the idictment lliams solicited a long list of goods and services from two unnamed philadelphia business owners. the total value was roughly $110,000. >> in the form of money, expensive vacations, airline jaguar xk8 convertible, expensive value. >> reporter: the indictment alleges business owner number one wanted help getting preferential treatment from customs for overseas trips and aid in the sentencing avenue a

friend who was being prosecuted by williams' office. >> mr. williams responded with a text message saying if he pleaded guilty itthere's a mandg extremely suspicious. >> reporter: williams himself didn't coent yesterday. his office says he was endiwith his f but his defense attorney says they will vigorously defend these charges. we are live at federal court, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. matt. >> thank you, katherine. and you mentioned seth williams. he himself has not commented since the indictment. the democrat did publically apologize last month for his failure to initially disclose the $160,000 in gifts as required by the city ethics board. >> my decision to accept gifts has brought much embarrassment shame and adverse publicity to me and unfortunately to the office for which i love. >> in response back then, the

ethics board slapped williams with the largest fine in its history, $62,000. williams also bowed out of his reelection campaign. philadelphia mayor jim kenney issued this statement saying it is deeply shameful that the city's chief law enforcement officer has been implicated in such a flagrant violation of the law at a time when our citizens trust in government is at an all-time low, it is disheartening to see yet another elected official give the public a reason not to trust us. >> it is now 5:06 and a man met his end in a ed didly shooting in pemberton burlington county. this is a new video that's come in showing detectives at the scene early this morning. but they released very few details t what we do know is that the victim was found along the 100 block of kinsley road in the sunbury section of the township last night and his body was found next to a car. there's no word yet on a suspect. and a house fire had crews in quite a battle in west philadelphia. it caught fire around one:15 this morning. it took firefighters about 30 minutes to get it under

control. no one was injured and investigators are still trying to figure out how that fire started. >> new this morning on "action news," a bucks county man is facing charges he threatened to kill two women with a knife. falls township police say stanley petroski was holding the women at knife point inside a mobile home in morrisville on monday. one of the women was petroski's ex-girlfriend. both women said petroski threatened them with a kitsch then knife several times. police arrested petroski after one of the women sent a text for help. >> store shelves are going to look a lot different in parts of philadelphia. pepsi is pulling two leader battles and 12 packs in response to the city's sweetened beverage tax. it affects other sodas made by the company like mountain due and sports drinks like gatorade. pepsi company blames the tax for its loss in sales particularly when it comes to the largest sizes since the tax is calculated per ounce. the company is switching to smaller size cans and bottles.

coke says it is also seeing more sales with the smaller portions as well. >> david says some of the people in our viewing area are already feeling those winds kick up. >> yeah, they're starting to come down out of the northwest, matt. storm tracker6 live double scan shows you that we're essentially dry it looks like that rain down by the coast is now off of cape may. and llewes delaware also drying out. some of your roads a little bit wet down there t as we take a look outside, we have clouds starting to thin out and we are expecting plenty of sunshine as we head a little bit later into the morning. there's the commodore barry bridge pretty easy to see with just some high clouds above. 48 degrees currently in philadelphia which doesn't seem too bad but notice how we're down getting close to the 30's in allentown and reading and the winds are starting to pick up out of the northwest beginning to build into the teens in places like wilmington, reading and allentown and we're going to feel blustery winds building in here in philadelphia and across the rest of the region over the next couple of hours as well. you can also see some clouds out to the west of us. most of those are going to dry up as we go into the rest of

the morning and afternoon we're expecting lots of sunshine locally. but windy and getting colder. in the lehigh valley, you're in the 40's right now but you will drop and later this afternoon only rebound to a high of 36 in the afternoon. so, your high technically is where you are right now. well into the 40's. but not so in the afternoon and those winds picking up as well. same story at the shore. milder right now but later in the day only rebounding to 41 degrees, lots of sun but very windy and blustery down along the boardwalk. and in philadelphia, plenty of sunshine today but windy and cold with a high of 39 degrees. wind chills making it feel like it's in the 20's across most of the region and then those gusts dropping down out of the west-northwest as high as 40 miles per hour at times. future tracker showing you that the wind chill which right now is still in the 40's will quickly be dropping into the 20's as soon as 9:00 a.m. and then pretty much staying there the rest of the day. so, it is going to be a cold uncomfortable day. again, highs in the 30's but feeling like the 20's.

and then overnight tonight we dip down to 22. that makes for a very cold start tomorrow. and then a little better finish with the winds dying out. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, today's high 39 blustery and colder feeling like the 20's. up to 53 on friday, a little bit of an issue in the northern and western suburbs on friday morning. there could be a little rain and it might be cold enough at the surface to create some freezing rain and icing in a couple of spots on friday morning. otherwise just lots of clouds and 53. then on saturday clouds and sun. we are looking for the possibility of a spotty shower but i would still make plans for saturday because that is going to be one nice high of 72 degrees. and then the sunday a cold front arrives, 53. we'll have periods of rain and it looks a little unsettled and somewhat cool on monday and tuesday, too. >> thank you david. >> yeah. >> it is 5:10 and caught on video, alligator in a drain. we'll show you just how hands on that trapper got to get the big reptile free. >> a group of children

looking pretty good this morning. new castle county we have some construction but it cleared and now on i-95 northbound near route 141, all lanes have reopened and no problems on the highways right there. checking mass transit, looking pretty good this morning, dave. >> karen, we're in the 40's in most neighborhoods right now but we're expecting those temperatures to drop as those winds are starting to build out of the cool northwest and by 6 a.m., we could be down to 37 degrees and it's actually possible that we to fall to the freezing mark my 8 o'clock. o even though it doesn't feel right now in those neighborhoods it is getting colder as we go through the morning. make sure the kids have all the extra gear. this afternoon it stays on the chilly side. we're only going for a high of 39 degrees. we'll probably hit that at about 3 o'clock so staying in the 30's for most of the day after dropping there out of the 40's and that again is your high at 3 o'clock. lots of sunshine today but windy and blustery and cold. and at the airport all green aircraft, no major delays, no sign of precip in any of our big travel cities. tam. >> okay, thank you, david. going on to health check

deaths from a rare form of cancer have been linked to breast implants. the fda announced implants have been associated with nine deaths from lymphoma. since last month the agency has received more than 350 reports of the cancer associated with these implants. the fda says it is likely to occur with what's called textured implants and it doesn't matter whether or not they're silicone or saline. removing them eliminated the disease. scientists say get a good night's sleep. british researchers say it is the emotional equivalent of winning the lottery. as a mother of two i can see this. a team at the university of warwick said sleep patterns of 30,000 people of four years they found in a good night of sleep improved people's moods just as if they had won a $150,000 jackpot. >> i can attest. that's why i don't play the lottery.

>> ♪ >> welcome back. taking a live look there down the shore into atlantic city. it is 5:26, 48 degrees. it will be colder today than it was yesterday an bit more windy. matt. >> what a coincidence tam we're starting in atlantic city with the morning buzz. a man from a.c. is getting national praise. it's what he did when he saw two children squaring off for a fight earlier this week. >> if y'all live around here in this neighborhood. you, i know where you from. i know where you from. your mom and dad worked hard to get where they at. >> this ivan ali miller breaking up the street fight. gave a compassionate speech to the two boys involved and called out the other children for trying to provoke the fight. miller wouldn't leave until the boys shook hands. the video has been seen 25 million times. even lebron james shared the video and saluted miller for getting involved.
