9:00 a.m. we'll sault st. -- see heavier n the schuylkill expressway, the ben franklin bridge. matt o'donnell you're at the draft, inyou're loving it. >> reporter: daric barnett a defense issue end from tennessee to philadelphia. i said he is ready to fly eagles fly. the eagles will formally introduce barnett at 4:15 p.m. today. some fans and this always happens, they are a bit perplexed about the first round choice, katherine scott is live on the parkway with that part of the story. >> reporter: eagles fans have different opinions as all fans do, some thinks that barnett is the shot in the arm that the defense needs. others hoped that they would go in a different direction.
the eagles front office said he plays with power and puts pressure on quarterbacks and he can close. as for barnett he said he heard philadelphia fans are passionate and excited to be here. >> i wasn't nervous, when i got my phone call i was nervous. >> reporter: number 14 daric barnett walked on the stage to cheers before hugging roger goodell and holding up his new jersey. the eagles rush has been lacking in a few years they hope that picking barnett can change that. >> i'm excited to be in this town. i'm ready to get to work. >> reporter: the eagles selected 6'3", 259-pound defensive end. he had 33 sacks in one season breaking reggie white's sack record. howie rosen said he is the kind

"action news." >> got to soak it up, right. aside from the picking the players there's plenty for fans to do during the draft day, the nfl draft experience will open at noon today. fans can get their pictures taken with the actual vince lombardi trophy so shiny. there's a mini nfl a hall of fame tent where every super bowl ring ask on display. there's autograph sessions and fans young and old can test their football skills. >> usually with the footballs it's all about adults. now you can bring the family out and enjoy it and have a good time. >> i would love to meet carson wentz, can you hear me, you're my guy. >> the fans said they didn't have any issues getting inside the parkway, plus philadelphia police are not reporting any issues he draft. the experience opens at noon.

was found. prosecutors said he killed his own toddler because he was an i am impediment to his relationship with his teenage girl friend. a car rolled over on ridge avenue and heritage drive in east falls, one person was transported to temple university hospital in stable condition. police are looking into what led to that crash. turning to david murphy it's muddy out there, matt has been saying, it could be great by that were. >> reporter: even later this morning we're looking better. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows we're mainly dry. we had sprinkles and showers come through philadelphia. the last of those are to the east and off the 0 shore. the drying is underway. as we look outside we have breaks in the clouds. we'll see partly sunny skies redrop across the -- redevelop

live at the nfl draft in the center of it all, matt. >> the philadelphia eagles select daric barnett. >> reporter: the eagles say they got their man. there were some twists and turns in the first night of the draft involving quarterbacks, but none of them had to do with the birds. in fact many saying the team played it safe. daric barnett defensive ends for tennessee set a record for sacks at school. the last person to hold it was the great reggie white. if barnett comes as close as white did in the pros, he will make the city proud. howie rosen said he has been looking at barnett since december. >> everyone in the city will see what kind of person he is, what kind of player he is, unbelievablably high character
and -- unbelievable high character and worker and talented and productive. >> the fans are passionate, i can't wait i want to get to work. >> he fits what we're doing, what we're trying to build here and what we started last year. >> reporter: so clearly, the eagles are sold on barnett as for the fans who are looking for the big splash with the first rownd -- first round pick, that's a different story. >> i was hoping for a wide receiver. >> hopefully he pans out to get a lot of sacks. >> reporter: it was a big night for hassan reddick who was selected by the cardinals right before the eagles pick. we'll hear from the owl not cardinal a little later. if you're not into the wheeling and dealing with the draft, there's plenty of fun to have.

mix attacked the woman on the back deck. the neighbor said she right to distract the dog to get him off the injured neighbor. >> i throw him the ham bone, it hits him, he doesn't take it because he is so engrossed in attacking her. >> the woman was taken to lehigh valley medical center where she was pronounced dead the dog will be knut -- euthanized . there's a growing memorial where corporal stephen ballard was shot and killed. police killed the suspected gunman sealy yesterday morning which was the end of a 20 hour standoff. corporal stephen ballard leaves behind a wife and young daughter. a memorial fund was set up to help the family. a plan to turn a shuttered atlantic city casino into a water park has gone bust.

winds out of the west/southwest not that strong, light breeze cruising through the region. you see showers that cruised through earlier, they are getting off coast. we are seeing breaks in the clouds we'll dry out any moist ground we have out there this morning. it's going to be warm. overall it's partly sunny, sun and clouds, 68 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 10:00 we're in the mid 70s. this will be a day that warm up in a hurru. in a hurry. noon, 78. the high will be 83 we'll hit that at 3:00 p.m. 82 is the high in allentown. lehigh valley, reading, trenton through the i-95 corridor into millville, very similar numbers with low 80s everywhere. you have to get closer to the shore to get a little cooler. the numbers on or about 70 down the shore are better than yesterday, a nice day ahead.

my name and all this to happen in philadelphia that was great. >> that camden county native, hassan reddick he started his career as a walk-on, now he is is a first round pick. good morning everyone, i'm matt o'donnell, day two of the draft day, day two of dreams will come true, but many more will have a nightmare getting around the city. >> reporter: last work day to be dealing with it, although we'll have some restrictions in place, but not nearly as many. it's a day for a lot of accidents this is on the schuylkill expressway eastbound in here belmont. we see police blocking the right lane. looks like some debris on the roadway, as well. the pickup truck involved in the accident. we have a few people on the scene blocking the right lane on the schuylkill expressway eastbound. i've got another shot of this, you can see a number of
emergency workers on the scene eastbound by belmont, chopper is panning back there's a fire truck on the scene, as well. traffic is slow as you head on the schuylkill expressway eastbound near belmont backing up right now because of the accident we have that is blocking a lane, at one point was blocking a right lane and left lane. now they are blocking a right lane creating a backup on the schuylkill expressway eastbound. you can see from the shot it's pretty with the sunshine coming in, the roads were wet early this morning, i think that led to what was a number of accidents. here's one in wyncote limb kiln pike at poe avenue. an accident at fairway road has cleared. hamilton township 129 southbound to route 29 blocking the right lane. i-95 northbound we have crews on the scene because a car was driving around the curve went over the road into the woods.
i don't know if you can see that car right there, but we've had a mess of accidents on a lot of highways, especially early this morning. be careful as you head out. the roads are damp from the early morning showers, but it seems to have done the trick. >> a home demolition went terribly wrong creating a haz/mat situation in north jersey. workers said they were unaware of oil canister on the property. they crushed it and sent the oil all over the neighbor's backyard. they expect the cleanup to last a few days. we'll be right back.
