are found dead inside their south philadelphia apartment a family member made the grizzly discover. katherine scott is on the 1300 block of federal street where the homicide detectives are working the scene overnight. >> reporter: the two victims were in the a rip they were found dead overnight. the street is closed off. crime scene unit and members of the homicide division remain here gathering evidence. it happened on the first floor apartment in federal street in south philadelphia. police were called at 11:45 p.m. for report of two people found unconscious. a family who lives upstairs went to check on them and discovered their bodies. the 23-year-old woman and 50-year-old boyfriend were found lying on the floor in separate rooms. there were no signs that someone forced their way into the apartment. but sources say something was found around the victims' necks.
