5:00 a.m., thursday, march 1. we're following breaking news. >> firefighters are battling a house fire in burlington county, when they arrived flames were shooting out of the home as two people were rushed to the hospital. reading, writing and weapons, a local police department is ready to fire armed officers to stand guard prepared to act when necessary. >> it's time for a coastal storm. accuweather is tracking a system that packs rain, wind, and maybe snow. you want to know about what's coming, let's go over to david murphy with the details and karen rogers is helping with the morning commute. >> reporter: a girl could get used to the 60-degree temperature. >> reporter: maybe a guy too.
we're focusing on the weather, as we look at the weather center, storm tracker 6 live shows areas to the southwest and areas to our south. as this starts to come in, the coastal storm will increase the chances of wind and changeover to rain or snow. a lot of things to look forward to over the next 24 to 48 hours. a flood watch north and east of philadelphia. a coastal flood watch as the storm forms. winter storm watch in the poconos, as well. let's break it down to for you. coastal flood watch starts this evening, into saturday evening, minor to moderate tidal flooding there. we have a straight flood watch philadelphia to montgomery county points to of allentown and east through trenton because of possible heavy rain. high wind watch friday into saturday. across the entire region we could have wind gusts 50 miles per hour and maybe higher than
that. winter storm watch friday when we change from rain to snow. could be decent accumulations up there. temperatures are not bad, on or about 40 or so across the region him as we go through the day, it will be mild, not karen's 6 or but we'll get up to 57, 58 for the high. notice house the rains hold off until later this afternoon. karen, the winds pick pick up, the rain gets heavy we have all the issues for tomorrow, i'll have more on that coming up. >> reporter: i said we would probably jam on the schuylkill expressway before the construction clears. that's what happened, this is schuylkill expressway at south street, westbound traffic heading toward the vine, getting ready to pick up the construction blocking the right lane. eastbound to 30th street was blocked. we'll see the delay ease, but it's on the -- construction on the schuylkill expressway. i-95 blue route no issues.
in fact as you check the majors, 42, 55, 295, northbound and southbound no big accidents, no major construction issues slowing you down, so looking good. we had a couple of accidents here, one cleared at kings highway at 13th street. westbound 30th street construction that had a cleared, as well. this was the scene as firefighters battled a large house fire in delanco, burlington county. two people were injured, they had to be rushed to the hospital. intense flames on the action cam. the action cam is live on the scene, 600 block of hickery street. firefighters are on the scene trying to bring this under control. breaking this morning, a man was rushed to the hospital after being shot 3 times in the brewerytown neighborhood. gunfire erupted at north 29th
and jefferson streets. police have not told us the victim's condition. debate over how to keep schools safe continues. a south jersey police department has decided to recruit a special type of officer to keep students safe. jeanette reyes is live in evesham township with the police department's plan. good morning, jennette. >> reporter: good morning, matt, it's important to know that the plan was in the works long before the tragedy in southern florida, but the police department chief saying that the goal here to have someone fully armed and trained to nearlyize a threat and hopefully save lives. >> other teachers are pretty much talking about it, doing escape routes and ways to get out. it kind of worries me. >> reporter: while the national conversation around gun control and arming teachers intensifies, one police department is taking matters into their own hands. evesham township is recruiting former police officers to place
