they're accused of admitting some violent robberies in the district now several suspect, out of jail and back into the community. this has the mayor's office angry about this. this video shows a robbery on h street at a cell phone store. investigators say 22-year-old roundelle mccloud and another man pointed a gun at a man and demanded money. mccloud was one of 13 arrested in a single week. but now he's out on bond. and so are at least three other suspects. the mayor's office says he wants this to change. >> the mayor knows when there's a gap in our system and someone repeatedly gets convicted and rearrested for a violent offense, we need to place the accountability around that individual. she has legislation to do this. >> now, mayor muriel bowser's legislation would keep repeat violent offenders behind bars

>> the recent shooting in san bernardino and the attack in paris has created backlash among the muslim community. today, montgomery county officials hope to bridge the peace here at home. the county office of human rights is hosting a meeting at the community center in silver springs to talk about hate violence and the role of the interfaith community. is a family in the district wants answers after its dog was electrocuted outside of an apartment building. this happened in the van ness building. lakia had been bam la kennedy's best friend since she adopted her eight years ago. >> it looked like she slipped on the ice. and she actually went off of all fours on her right side and ended up over by a wall. >> this happened in a courtyard area which is now closed off as a hazard. in a statement to news4, the

waiting to be valet parked at a hotel. she called officers a few hours later that tell them that she had the car but didn't remember stealing it. well, that extra snow day this week probably has you wondering if your child will have to spend extra time in school this year. we checked with several districts to see what they're doing about this, virginia, fairfax, arlington and prince williams and loudoun county all used eight snow days so far. they all have days built into the calendar. none is planning to make up days right now. alexandra, though, the school district plans to change two teacher work days to make up days. d.c. public schools are extending the school year by one extra day. maryland, montgomery county schools adding two days to the school year. prince george's has two school days to make up and is waiting unti

ted cruz and marco rubio trying to battle it out for second. and could this be a last stand for jeb bush? his campaign is not nearly where he wanted it to be in terms of numbers. he insists he's going to take south carolina into nevada the following week. and the democratic primary in south carolina won't happen until next week. candidates bernie sanders and hillary clinton making the rounds. clinton holding a get out to vote event today. sanders is making his presence known in the south. the primary for the south carolina democrats set for february 27th. a murderous mother talked to news4 telling us she wants to change minds and save lives by keeping what happened to her son to ever happening again. he shot and killed his wife last october before killing himself. he was a d.c. protective

a relative man is plead nothing contest to perjury charges. leslie engleton appeared in court tuesday. engleton is a relative of lloyd welsh. engleton will face up to ten years in prison. she and kathryn lyon vanished from a mall. their bodies were never found. a swimming coach in southern maryland is facing child pornography charges. andre barben was arrested last friday after police searched his home. we're told police found evidence of that on his computer inside his home. the assistant coach is now fulfilling that role. we're also learning new information about an attack on a former marine here in washington. d.c. police say he was

at a mcdonald's last friday. marquez told police four teenagers came up to him and asked him if, quote, black lives matter, and called him a racist. one of the teens hit him in the face with a handgun and stole his wallet. d.c. police are reviewing surveillance video of this assault. the fight to get better wages for contract workers at reagan national airport will get a little star power. there have been reports of intimidation and illegal surveillance of workers. glover will meet with workers to discuss wages and help them fight for $15 an hour and the right to form a union. students and parents are rallying in fairfax county for more money for schools. this after county executive ed long repealed his 2017 budget proposal. the $4 billion budget aims to make up for a $93 million gap. it increases spending by more than 4%.

the new head of the prince george's county police department is starting the job with a lot on his plate. internally chief hank sa winsky will work on the upper ranks of the police department. he says the police department must reflect the community in order to be effective. h
