a community mourns the loss of a blacksburg teen .... "i'm sorry for your loss, ive lost family members and everything its no where close to losing a child i can only imagine what that would be like," the emotional roller coaster that's coming to an end. and... first degree murder charges .... the latest on the arrest of a virginia tech student in death. good evening and thanks for joining us for wsls 10 at eleven. i'm brie jackson. missing 13 year old nicole lovell's remains were found by police today. as we've reported nicole was last seen at her home in blacksburg between midnight and seven a-m wednesday. since then...officers from seven agencies ...including the f- b-i..focused on a one mile radius around nicole's home. in news conference held tonight...authorit ies delivered the news no one wanted to hear. they say they found the teen's body in surrey county north carolina....near the state's border

remains were discovered around 4 o'clock this afternoon near route 89. earlier today, police arrested 18-year old david eisenhauer, a freshman at virginia tech, in relation to nicole's disappearance. eisenhauer is now charged with felony abduction and first degree murder. he is currently being held in the montogmery county jail without bond. wilson says eisenhauer's arrest has led them to several more clues. chief anthony wilson, blacksburg police: 00:27:19 "this investigation is far from over, as we continue to conduct multiple interviews. we're processing additional evidence related to this crime. the focus of this investigation is to now reconstruct the timeline leading up to nicole's tragic death." police say at this time, eisenhauer has not confessed to the crime. lovell's remains are being transported to the medical examiner in roanoke. news of her death and eisenhaurs arrest sent shockwaevs through our community. virginia tech's president tim sands is speaking out. in a statement he says today's events have quote "everyone in

speaking on behalf of our community, let me say that our hearts go out to nicole's family and friends. as a father, as well as viriginia tech's president, i want to reassure you that our community is supportive and resilient. it is normal to feel anxious and overwhelmed at a time such as this. you are not alone. " today has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for people in our community. this evening --- crowds gathered to show their support to the family of nicole lovell. "justice for children without voices" held a prayer vigil tonight. gatherers had hoped nicole would come home safely. tonight their hopeful prayers changed to condolences. wsls ten's duke carter reports. nats people singing amazing grace as some people sang amazing grace, you can hear others sobbing. nats "she's not alive" some were crying and weeping--- others were hugging each other ---because they

in the blacksburg community has passed away at a "i was coming hoping she would come home," jamie cales was one of about 75 people who attended the vigil. he's still processing the news that 13 year old nicole lovell is gone. vigil "we found out she wasnt' everyone is trying to wrap their heads around the news," nats "forbid them not for such is the kingdom of god" pastor mike honaker of river of life church in dublin spoke words of encouragement during tonights vigil. especially now that the goal is to make sure the family can get some sense of peace during this tragic time. life church "to pray for the family and also accept it as a challenge to do however we could do it children safely," protect children -- especially young girls. kenny jarrels with help save the next girl also attended the vigil. he's been talking to

jarrels says the goal now is to make sure the family can grieve and move forward. kenny jarrels/help save the next girl "right now that's our next goal is to comfort the family and make them realize they are not facing this alone" nats of amazing grace because a community is trying to stand strong after learning about a devastating loss. cales "i wish the very best for them," duke "now supporters are sending their condolences to the family, in blacksburg dc wsls ten," a community mourns the loss of a chesapeake family ... as dozens gathered at a vigil this evening. the vigil was organized by one of the victim's friends and classmates at deep creek high school. many wore purple ... which is the school's color. those who attended walked to the houses where the murders happened. chesapeake police say 26 year old cameron dooley shot and killed his parents ... brother ...

he then shot and killed himself after. the murder suicide remains under investigation. two people are dead following a shooting in caroline county. it happened friday night at a home along jefferson davis highway. both 42 year old andre and tina grey were found dead at the scene. an 18 year old woman and a 7 year old boy were also inside the home. both are in stable but critical condition. investigators say appears to stem from a domestic incident. a man is dead following a single car crash in colonial heights. it happened around five this morning near temple avenue on interstate 95. virginia state police say the car ran off the road and struck a tree. police say the driver 21 year old was found dead at the scene. he was not wearing a seat belt. police say speed may have been a factor in the crash. virginia state police say a man is on the run following a high speed chase. according to police...the driver took off during a traffic stop in alleghany county...around 12:30 this morning. they say

driver is 28 year old andrew arnold arnold is wanted for drug charges in west virginia. the incident remains under investigation. anyone with information is asked to call police. more than 100 people came together to raise awareness about human trafficking. the event happened today at straight street ministries in roanoke. it included a short film and allowed parents and children to have an open discussion about the dangers of online predators. straight street wants to educate the public on trafficking and provide shelter for victims. the organization's director says human trafficking is not only a problem for young girls. keith farmer/director straight street -"whether it's a boy or a girl trafficking victim. young maybe with a child there is a number of situations to look out for so there isn't a cookie cutter description of what a human trafficking victim looks like." deanna wallace from homeland security was the guest speaker at the event. straight street plans to have more events throughout the year.

the circus in town this weekend. this is the 58th year the shrine circus has come to the roanoke valley. those who attended today's event were greeted by protestors. demonstrators say they are taking a stand and want to raise awareness about what they call - the abuse of circus animals. tammy britt/protestor a lot of people don't realize the treatment they endure to do these tricks for our amusement. i think if they knew maybe they wouldn't go. the group says they are not against circus itself ... meaning the acts such as juggling and high wires ... but oppose the use of animals. people are celebrating a huge milestone for donations. workers with united way southwest virginia celebrated with county leaders about surpassing the goal for the amount of money raised for this year. overall --- united way raised 1 point 5 million dollars this year. in the twin county area they surpassed their 100 thousand

a local fraternity in roanoke is working to help with the flint water crisis. the gamma alpha chapter of omega psi phi fraternity inc and que house, a community based organization kicked off a water drive today. the non-profit is collecting cases of bottled water to send to flint michigan. collection times will be monday through friday from 10 am to one pm. the chapter says they feel it's their duty to help those in a time of crisis. mike hamlar/fraterni ty member" we feel that it is our duty to help those in need and unfortunately it's not going to solve the problem but hopefully we can put a little bit of hope back that they do have some friends here in roanoke and southwest virginia that care about them and are looking out

some things to them." hamlar says they hope to be able to fill a semi- tractor trailer by friday february 26th. they are still looking for a means to transport the water, and monetary donations to the cause. hunger continues to be an issue across the commonwealth and right here in southwest virginia. each year - thousands of families rely on food banks to feed their children. wsls 10 is teaming up with feeding america southwest virginia and kroger to help. the annual "10 cares food drive" is thursday february 4th. from six a-m to 7 p-m we'll be collecting food at the kroger in bonsack... cave spring... lynchburg... martinsville and blacksburg. lots of college hoops going on.. virginia is on the road at louisville.. we have those highlights.. and some high school wrestling tournaments wrapped up tonight..
