in norfolk police are have not yet made an arrest in the recent rash of robberies at area 7-elevens. the four robberies all happened on wednesday - police say they know who one of the suspects is but is still working to find out who is responsible for the others and if they are all connected. clerks at the 7- eleven say tell us that the rash of robberies are concerning and makes them worry about their lives. customers outside the stores say they can relate to the situation the clerks were put in during the robberies and can imagine how they felt afterwards. outcue: ".. a former suffolk pastor is behind bars -- accused of sexually abusing a minor. this is 54 year old michael mcclain. court documents say -- he sexually abused a minor in this house for several months last year. it )s the same house where his website says he held church services. the details of it all are all laid out in this transcript -- where it says mcclain admitted to the sexual relationship. he also told a detective -- he let temptation get the best of him. he is being held in jail -- and refused to tell us his side of the story. the norfolk state community is coming together as one of their own is in the hospital fighting for their life. heads up if your route takes you around the downtown area. construction over the next few months will lead to some lane closures -- and possibly more traffic.

in norfolk the norfolk state university community is coming together for one of its women s basketball players -- who is fighting for her life. amber brown s family tells newschannel 3 -- her teammates found her unresponsive in her dorm room on new years day when she did not show up to get ready for practice. they tell us -- they believe the incident was diabetes-related. now the school is holding fundraisers to help pay for amber s medical costs at all home basketball games this month. amber s sister says her teammates have also started to raise awareness about diabetes. 45;19 everyone around campus even if they didn t know her or if they had one class they have commented and supported in some type of way

missing a team member but times like this i think the team has come closer together 28 they have a little bit more to play for now amber is currently at sentara norfolk general hospital in critical condition according to a hospital spokesman. her family has also set up a gofundme account to help pay for her medical costs. just head over to wtkr dot-com for the details. 10-people were taken to the hospital after an s-u-v crashed into a school bus in north carolina. police in charlotte say the driver of the s-u-v failed to stop at a red light hitting the bus the bus then crashed into trees near an apartment complex. the s- u-v was on fire when police arrived. the drivers of the both the bus and the s-u-v and eight students were taken to the hospital. at this time no charges have been filed. new details we now know the name of the driver whose tractor trailer went off the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel on wednesday. police have identified him as 33-year-old matthew killmon. killmon was driving a truck

coastal a-g transport when, police say he veered off the road and crashed into the bay. he was able to get out of the tractor trailer and floated until he was rescued. killmon was flown to sentara norfolk general hospital to be treated for his injuries. in norfolk-- construction could have an impact on your commute for the next few months. crews are replacing sewer lines near the intersection of brambleton and saint pauls boulevard. that )s already a very busy intersection. but the city says they )ve been planning for a way to manage the traffic. off duty cops will help direct traffic and the timing of lights has been changed. still --some drivers say they )ll try to avoid that intersection as this is happening. outcue: ".. a high school student is north carolina wiht a 4-point-7 g-p-a has passed up the opportunity to graduate early to pursue her new found love for wrestling. its a tough sport for anyone but this teenager has an added challenge--she can )t see her opponents. liana mutia has been losing sight since her sophomore year but that hasn t stopped her from competing. judo is her primary sport but liana wanted a new challenge so she started wrestling. in practice and matches her opponent is required to always keep contact with her--but on the mat there is no special privileges. outcue: ".. new details from hampton we now know that the man and woman found dead in a home on charolais char-lay run - were victims of a murder-suicide. police tell newschannel three richard garrity killed barbara caton - then they say garrity shot and killed himself. no one else was inside the home at the time. we )re working to learn more about this - we )ll bring you more as it )s available. police are investigating a man who kept his mother s dead body in his house for more than a month. police in houston texas found the womans body yesterday. detectives and a mental health unit later interviewed the son. his brother said their mom died around thanksgiving. investigators say they )ll have

hundreds of thousands of you may be voting for someone new for congress. federal judges redrew the boundaries of three congressional districts in hampton roads. their ruling came after a lawsuit challenging the way districts are currently set up. the judges new maps would mean congressman bobby scott would no longer be in a majority black 3rd district. congressman randy forbes 4th district would gain many more black voters. and congressman scott rigell )s 2nd district would now stretch west to williamsburg. this isn )t the last word. the u.s. supreme court will ultimately decide how these districts are drawn. on the military watch some big changes when it comes to titles in the navy. the navy times is reporting the military branch is now reviewing

"man" - like "fireman" and "seaman." the paper says it could bring changes to nearly two dozen specialties. the move comes as a directive from the pentagon - as it works to move more women into combat and into the navy seals. other branches of the military have been instructed to follow suit. later today -- the u-s-n-s kanawha finally leaves naval station norfolk. the ship was scheduled to pull out on wednesday morning -- but due to some weather restrictions it was pushed back until this morning. the navy )s fleet replenishment oiler will be out to sea for a 6- month deployment -- providing fuel to ships at sea, jet fuels to aircraft carriers, and other critical supplies. the ship will depart norfolk around eight this morning. virginia beach wants you to think twice before tossing your old electronics out with the trash. the city )s landfill and resource recovery center might be the better option. it )s been rebranded in recent years -- and won several awards.

the city )s recycling bureau manager says you may be surprised by what can take on new life. you can find a full list of items accepted on our website on wtkr dot com. more than three-hundred sea turtles are recovering at the north carolina aquarium. -- marine biologists say the turtles are experiencing a condition they call "cold- stunned". it )s from the drop in temperature last week. the aquarium is so overwhelmed -- turtles are staying warm in every spot imaginable -- even the bathrooms. so the aquarium staff asked for all the help they could get -- from medical supplies

newschannel three is taking action to warn you about a recall wegmans grocery store has recalled more than a thousand pounds of chicken products. apparently, they were packages without being checked by federal inspectors. the recall affects products sent to several states including virginia . one product is an ingredient in items prepared in wegmans stores -- and is not sold to customers. so far, there have been no reports of anyone becoming sick from eating these products. fit bit---a popular wrist band used for monitoring pulse rates is now facing legal action. consumers say it )s inaccurate and are suing the company for false advertising. the suit claims the device causes potential health risks.
